Sends good sound Nice range of low bass and clear high a very competent amp paired with good speakers and sub. Reliably transfers 4K and 3D from devices to tv provided you use 4K/3D HDMI cables.

After 40 years with a rock solid, great sounding, top shelf and still working JVC receiver / amp , I decided to go digital for a few reasons. I am very happy with the Denon amp/reciever. The sound is fantastic and I am able to hear notes and sounds I long since had not heard. However, I am sorely dissapointed it will not support my turntable. This will cost me an additional pre-amp. My fault for not doing enough research. Other than that I am very happy with the features, quality and the low price. I doubt it will last 40 years though. I doubt I will either.

Decent receiver. Purchased more for the price for the stuff you get with it. Sound is decent. A bit bigger than a couple of the other receivers in the same price range. I'd recommend it for the price.

This receiver was perfect for what we needed. If you build a new house and they have a 5.1 pre-wired system this is the prefect receiver for you! Easy set up, great power, great price. I have a 7.2 receiver that I use for my basement that runs that many speakers but this is great for my living room.

Hard to setup, hard to connect to an iPod

I bought this receiver to work with a newly purchased iPod Touch, having made sure that it had a USB input as well as RCA jacks. The receiver was priced in the middle of the range of models on display, and the salesman said that Denon and Onkyo were the store's two best brands. First step was setting up the receiver. I put batteries in the remote, and hit the Setup button. The display on the receiver responded, and asked me a question. I tried to answer the question using the remote--it didn't work. I tried to answer the question using the buttons on the receiver--it didn't work. I reread the instruction sheet furnished with the receiver, and didn't see anything wrong with my approach. I went on the internet and downloaded the instruction manual (one wasn't furnished with the receiver), and tried following those instructions--it didn't work. Finally, I called the manufacturer, who wanted to walk me through setup step by step. It turns out that it is not possible to set the receiver up unless you connect it to a TV or computer monitor. Arghh! Later that evening, I connected the receiver to my TV and completed the balance of a plain vanilla setup in less than a minute. Next I tried connecting my iPod Touch to the receiver via a Lightning to USB cable. Although the iPod would charge, the receiver said the device was unrecognizable. Arghh! Next I tried connecting the iPod Touch using an Insignia 3.5 mm headphone to dual RCA adapter cable. This didn't work either, though I tried putting the RCA plugs into Audio In, CD in, AC in and Aux. Arghh! Finally, I tried connecting the iPod using BlueTooth. After pairing the iPod, this approach finally worked. I did not test any of the other features of the receiver. The lack of a printed manual is somewhat discouraging in that respect. iPods have been making music for fourteen years. They are the world's most popular MP3 player. The difficulties I had connecting it to the Denon are inexcusable, in my opinion. I really wish that I had demanded the Best Buy salesman show me how the iPod connected to the Denon before I bought it. I'm pretty sure I'd have ended up with a different brand had I done so.. The difficulty connecting the iPod together with the lack of printed documentation and requirement for using a TV during setup make me recommend against the Denon receiver.

I purchased this to replace an older Yamaha unit to run a 5.1 surround sound setup. For the size of my room (15x20) it's perfect, and the bluetooth connectivity is a nice addition to the older technology I had previously.
