Solid low cost receiver, easy setup. Came ready right out of the box, and the Bluetooth was a surprise. Not a huge amount of power but enough to drive my floor speakers.

What a great product. Once it was connect to our surround sound it has provided excellent sound to our back yard and lounging around the pool. Connection to the radio can be a bit sketchy at times but the bluetooth is the best thing going.

For the price this thing sounds amazing. The surround effects sound perfect. The setup was quick and easy. Looks good in the av cabinet, and even the remote is better than I expected.

A little cumbersome setting it up. But after figuring it all out, a snap to adjust the audio levels. Perfect for expanding the audio and tv setup for my outside entertainment area. Would highly recommend for the clarity.

Disappointing volume, randomly rising and falling sound volume. Set up and overall function was easy enough and the sound was good, I liked the bluetooth and app for my phone. I liked all of the features. However, there was a major glitch with the volume rising and falling on its own. Unacceptable - returned it. I did read this in other reviews so this is not something too uncommon.

We're very sorry for the poor experience with the S540BT. That sounds like a bad Volume IC, which is not common at all. If the factory reset of the unit didn't clear it up, then we would've exchange it for you under the warranty. We hope that you consider Denon again in the future.

Let me start off by saying this is my first receiver I have purchased so not a lot to compare it to besides previous Home theater in a box systems. I am currently using it as a 3.1 system so I cannot speak to its capabilities past that. Setup is easy and the included mic did a pretty good job at setting up the speakers. Note that the amount of EQ settings is laughable as you can only adjust bass and treble so if you are wanting more settings you can just skip to the $400 range. I am using this with Polk T50 towers and a center Polk T30 and it powers them just fine. Using a Klipsch kw-100 subwoofer and also runs that great at half volume. Overall great receiver for the money if you are building your first home theater system.

Pretty good entry-level AVR - has all the reasonable features you would expect - bought as a starter for family and it has been serving them well since setup with no issues.

Very impressive with the sound quality and other features for the price. It was easy to install and setup. Unfortunately, if you want a HEOS compatible device this is not.

Needed an AV receiver for a place i am staying at part time. Tried using an old stereo no go. Have a higher end Denon so figured get this budget model and i am very happy. Easy setup, just follow the directions. Easy to hook up other items like tvs and dvd/cd players. I am very happy that i went with the Denon.
Would also like to give a shout out to the young fellow at BB that gave me information on a few AV receivers and listened and gave feedback on what i was thinking i need. GREAT BB employee.

Easiest setup experience ive had with any audio equipment. Full crisp 4k output, and impressive sound (even from my speakers which are far from top of the line). 10/10 would buy again.

I purchased this as a 4k replacement for my older Onkyo receiver that was beginning to go out. I upgraded to a 4k version so I could take advantage of my new 4k tv, and the 4k Apple TV I use for content.
Hook up was easy, as well as the setup. I cannot say for sure that I notice a massive difference in audio quality, but then again my old receiver was awesome too and I had no complaints about the audio anyway.
My only gripes with this unit are that I wish the input names were customizable so I don't have to remember which one is my Switch and which one is the X-box. Also I think the remote is clunky and cheap feeling. I expected a better remote from Denon and this one falls flat.

The unit has great sound and was very easy to integrate into my current setup (replacing a 20 year old receiver) However, it randomly turns on from BT connection from my phone which is annoying
