I recently purchased the Denon AVR-S540BT Receiver, 5.2 channel, 4K Ultra HD Audio and Video, Home Theater System from Best Buy, and I am absolutely thrilled with my purchase! Excellent sound (after all, that's the reason you buy a receiver instead of a sound bar)! Easy to set up, enough HDMI, RCA and digital optical inputs for my components and ARC. Having Bluetooth capability and the remote app on my phone is a slam dunk.

I am no expert but a friend suggested this receiver and I got it, set it up easily and had no issues. Followed the guide on the screen and bingo ez pz speakers make the boom boom.
Really tho it was simple. Feature wise it has everything you need to get the most out of a 5.2 setup and a 4K tv with HDR.
My setup is mainly focused for gaming. PS4 Pro and Xbox One X hooked up no problems and I experienced no latency issues or image quality issues. It passes through the 4k and hdr signals well. It doesn't do ALLM so you will still have to manually set your tv into game mode but that really isn't a big deal imo.

Wanted to upgrade my 5.1 because my old receiver did not have HDMI inputs, and I bought a new TV that runs 4k and wanted to consolidate all video inputs into one unit. This unit runs well, has all of the features I need for my purposes. Easy to set up with the on-screen instructions. Plenty of power to run my Polk Audio towers and sub.

My previous Denon receiver stopped working, so I bought this one to replace it. Setup is easy, price was great and how it works is even better. Great sound and enough power to fill my home theater. I might have gone for the 7.2 instead, but at the time it wasn't needed. I love Denon receivers... have had them for years.

Bought this on sale to replace a dead receiver at our summer beach house. Paired it with some Klipsch indoor/outdoor speakers and it sounds fantastic. The Bluetooth feature will get lots of use and functions flawlessly so far.
This receiver does way more than we will use it for. Surround sound capable, we just have the stereo speakers hooked up and the TV still sounds great thru it. The FM feature actually gets some use as there are a couple decent stations in our area. So far, it is working great and even though we aren’t using it to it’s full capability, we have the ability to expand if we want to. Great value on a great product.

What an impressive receiver for the money. Easily hooked up a smart tv, blue ray, play station, cassette deck, turntable, and an old-school equalizer to manger those couple of analog devices. Couldn't be happier! Also connected my android natively using Bluetooth and can play gobs of playlists from my phone. Lastly, the native Denon remote app allows me to control this without the supplied remote. I tell you, this is a sweet setup! Oh, I should mention that I've had a Denon surround system, 5.1 speakers, for years and this just makes them even better. And the ARC of HS HDMI port works perfectly with the smart tv. Thanks, Denon! But sadly I had to return it because I bought the Denon x3500h instead!

Does what I need it to! I have it connected to my TV for surround sound, and it's also connected to the Sonos Port. I like that it's strait forward, and focuses on the basics - best of all is the power it sends to each speaker - some of the most expensive receivers sent just 70 watts to each speaker, but this powerful little guy sends double that. Pretty awesome if you ask me - and it was less than half the cost. Great value.

I was using a Sherwood RX4105 2-channel Stereo Receiver, and upgraded to this DENON AVR-S540BT
5.2 CH. 4K ULTRA HD AV RECEIVER WITH BLUETOOTH ® AND DOLBY VISION. Sound is perfect, makes the Sherwood sound like it was made in the 60's, and by the way I was born in 1955 so I know 60's sound. Would highly recommend!!!!! 4- Fluance SX6W bookshelf speakers wired in series [front R&L]----------------- 1- AperionAudio Intimus 4C Center Channel Speaker.------------------- 2- FluanceSXBP2W SXBP2W

Bought this primarily for hdmi and 4K Ultra 5.1, plus normal ipod and pandora stereo input. Using bookshelf speakers and a Sony powered sub.
works great for all of that, and controls are crisp and clear.
the best part is the sound tuning: this machine comes with a microphone and setup software: it will balance all 5.1 speakers against the microphone, yes including the sub, for sound levels And Frequency. how cool is that? and its not faked, sit in that same spot as the microphone and the sound balance is great.
All that for $300? Awesome.

ENTERY LEVEL RECEIVER

This receiver is a great low cost unit from Denon. It has enough power for a 400 sq ft room. It has a 5.2 setup only so don’t expect anything else. One thing you’ll have to comprise is there is no banana/barrel speaker connectors in the rear. Furthermore, it serves it purpose with multiple surround sound formats and able to 4K/60htz capabilities. Denon has been around for 100 years and this is a great entry level home theater receiver. I would recommend this to anyone.

Went with this 5.2 as for our house we aren't going to have room for more than this. Impressive set of features and easy setup was great. The automatic tuning of the speakers was a pleasant surprise. The extra power to our bass speaker from this unit over our old one (Kenwood, 20+ years old) was also a nice addition.
This thing easily powers 2 bookshelf speakers used as surround, and 2 floor standing speakers, and a bass. More sound than one could ever need for an average living room!

Sound is great, but I run my TV through this receiver. I bought this unit to replace a Sony receiver that had a failed HTML connection. The Sony unit must have had a pre-amp for the HTML input, it had great sound with the volume under 40. This Denon unit must take the signal to the amplifier with no amplification. While I can't complain about the sound quality, I have to turn it up to 70 to get enough sound to hear clearly.

I got this for my living room as I only have 4 ceiling speakers. Set up and connecting wires were easy. Setup needed a TV to go thru the menu and testing. thereafter its was really easy to connect phones via Bluetooth. Sound is clear and crisp. Works for a small space. looks really nice on my console. Well designed and made.
Easily switch bluetooth connections btwn various phones. Only hiccup - would have liked a better connection option for speaker wires.

Great Stereo. My family and friends have all enjoyed the quality sound of my Denon Reciever since day one. Initial setup was easy, even for an amateur. The Bluetooth technology allows others to connect quickly so they can enjoy their songs of choice. Already had two friends buy same unit.

Denon is a great quality receiver. I also purchased one back in 2012 and that one is still going strong. This receiver is Blue-tooth ready and can be navigated easily from your phone. It has the ability to sense the room surroundings for optimal performance. I am using it with speakers already built-in to our living room.

I paired this receiver with the Klipsch 100 watt tower speakers and it starts clipping listening to music at high volumes. It does great for movies. Just wish I had gone with a more powerful receiver with my speakers. Setup was a breeze calibration went smooth. I can’t figure out how to pair the Bluetooth with the Google Home, but I can work around that.

I’ve heard many home audio components over the years. My father raised me on high quality audio gear so I’ve become a connoisseur. This thing has all I need and I don’t need to break the bank. The controls are simple and easy to use. Bluetooth is seamless. Calibrating the unit to a room is easy and seamless. Very nice unit. Well done Denon.
