    Waste of Money

Total garbage. I purchased this unit in December 2021 but did not install it until late February 2022. Everything worked well until tonight (September 8, 2022) when the volume, on its own, went up to full without any input from me. I would turn it back down and it would turn around and increase. I turned the unit off and when I turned it back on the problem persisted. I tried this repeatedly. I took the batteries out of the remote and the problem continued. This is unacceptable for only 7 months of use. I looked online and apparently this is a known problem. The Onkyo that this replaced lasted over 10 years until the HDMI Out died. Don't waste your money.

I'm returning not because of issues, But because there are better units out there and found kwerks with this unit. Not very much power, Does not have Hdmi pass though, have to have Bluetooth input selected on amp to use smartphone app then go back and select input for av you want to use, getting a Sony for almost same price more power and better features.

    Poor Sound Quality

If I had to do it again, definitely would have went with another unit. Do not expect theater quality sound with this unit. You have to almost put the unit at the highest setting. Just to hear your programming. I have bought numerous receivers from Best Buy and never had a problem. But this was an exception to the rule..Wish I could return the unit. But due to Hurricane Dorian and poor weather conditions. Could not return the unit in the 7 day time period.

the basic model, so it is what it is. Bad thing, is it cannot work with my old but good working 5.1 sony speakers. mainly the subwoofer. it has to be a powered subwoofer. I am taking it back, but other than that it is as advertised.

I feel this was an oversell- I told the Geek Squad that I was not happy just as the C Ovid shut down started & could not get help. This is the first opportunity I have had to seek help. I need hands-on help knowing what this device is - lots of sugar for a LOT of dimes!

Had a Denon receiver for years but starting making a buzzing sound so replaced it with this unit. Worked for a month (of course, couldn't take it back to store). The left channel started to distort and make a popping sound, had to PAY to send it to repair center, and they returned it but still had same problem. Sending it to another repair shop to see if they can resolve the issue. Very disappointed with this Denon product. I'll let you know if it EVER gets fixed. As of now, I would NOT recommend this product!

We're very sorry for the poor experience with the S540BT. The unit does carry a 2 year warranty so the authorized service center should be able to correct it. If not, we will replace it for you under the warranty guidelines. The warranty covers the diagnostic, parts, labor and return shipping once the repair is complete. It does not cover getting the unit to the authorized service facility. denon

Seems okay doesn't switch that well between cable and media streaming. Sometimes have to switch back and forth several times to get it to work correctly. The service at the store was good. Jury still out on receiver.

The switching issue is typically indicative of poor EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) negotiation between the TV, AVR and source. Try removing the HDMI output cable (cable between the TV and AVR) and leave it disconnected for testing. See if the audio is consistent when switching between cable and media with the TV's EDID out of the equation. denon

Absolutely the worst brand i have ever purchased. Not only did it take over an hour for a sound to come out, but then the center channel was barely audible. Now to top it all off I spent two hours trying to get a non existence Bluetooth feature to at least show up on any device. Trust me Denon is D.O.A Save yourself a headache and money $$$$$$ buy something Else!!!!!!
