Unit died after 2 months

Amplifier shuts down a few seconds after turning power on. Red protection light flashes. I've unplugged every connection and have tried multiple outlets. It's dead.

Posted .We're very sorry for the poor experience. The unit is going into Protect. This happens when the unit sees an abnormality and shuts down to avoid damage. If the unit is going into Protect with nothing connected to it, then it already incurred internal damage and will need to be evaluated under warranty by an authorized service center or replaced by your dealer.

Posted .We're very sorry for the poor experience. The S540BT is an entry level AVR, so it's possible stepping up to the S650H or higher may exceed your expectations.

Love this Denon receiver...

Paired with my new Klipsch speakers, I couldn't be happier! It is really a great value for the money... there are great options for tweaking sound to personal taste, and easily change options for different things... for instance there is a way to even out background and voice sound for very loud action movies, which is a great feature. I highly recommend it!

sub humming

Posted .We're very sorry for the poor experience. It sounds like 60 Hz cycle hum if it's consistent even when the volume is increased or decreased. This means the AVR and sub aren't grounded properly within the application and the two devices are causing a low frequency ground loop hum. Try plugging in the sub on a different electrical circuit and see if you get the same result. You also want to make sure the sub cable isn't close to a power cable as that could cause noise from interference.

Stuck a unremovable subscription on my BB card!!

Don't waste your time

Please make sure the AVR's HDMI output is the root cause of the issue and the issue is not rooted in an HDMI communication problem like poor EDID negotiation. To test for that, please use a different make/model TV and a short HDMI output cable to test the AVR's HDMI output. If that's not possible, then we recommend you have the AVR evaluated under warranty by an authorized service facility.

Posted .The S540BT has a built in Setup Assistant if you're able to get a connection to the TV. Please make sure you're using the AVR's HDMI Monitor Out to an HDMI input on the TV to get to the setup menu. Unfortunately, we don't offer physical installation as part of the warranty. For that, you will need an installer / Geek Squad to come out and help you.

Posted .We're very sorry for the poor experience. The unit was going into Protect. That means it was shutting down to protect itself from damage. This could stem from improper voltage, impedance dips below 2 ohms or internal heat reaching over 200 degrees F. It's also possible that one of those factors affected the unit's Volume IC, which would then cause the unit to shut down when the volume is increased.
