    Purchased with High Hopes. My First Denon Receiver. Sounds great Has issues changing to stereo and wont stay on surround sound. I will be returning this unit..Back to Pioneer. Just have to wait for product to return.

      Hello, I wanted to inquire on what sound settings you might be using. Is the receiver in auto? If so, the settings can be changed on the remote. Locate the movie button under sound mode towards the bottom of the remote. Cycle through the settings by pressing the movie button. Find the setting you like. When changing inputs, the receiver will revert to last sound setting that was used. Further questions please feel free to reach out to Denon General Customer Service

    Yup, Add me to the list of unhappy Denon Customers... I read the reviews of folks having the HDMI output cut out... Had been experiencing occasional issues of the video just cutting out for a second...since it was an Amazon Firestick I assumed maybe it was Network issues... Now, I have to preface the amount of money I spent on this unit and realizing we live in a world where analog audio connections are impossible to get..and Thus I had to convert my Home theatre to HDMI audio switching because I built my Audio center away from my Plasma... I thus Bought 25-foot cables and I moved equipment closer to the audio... This was a logistical hassle to keep my home theatre and audio room in same form and function... As my Bad luck would have it my Very Old Plasma TV that had been still performing brilliantly up until a few days ago, the Power supply died... As it was very Old and there was just a hint of Burn-in on the screen I decided I should Upgrade to 4K TV... Well, I hook everything up, and The TV senses that I hooked up a device but I get no display of any sort on the TV... the TV works if I put any device directly to the TV it works brilliantly but not with the Denon in the middle... I fired up Google, I performed a HARD reset to Factory.. Did soft resets...There is even a note from DENON that says sometimes you have to do it 5 times... How about 30 and still nothing... As I spent pretty much all night last night... I used the HDMI test utility that is built-in, Which you cant use till you figure out how to bypass the "Initial Set-up" that you really need a working screen to set up with... And it claims every single one of my HDMI cables as well as 3 brand new ones are defective and yet if I hook a device directly to the TV with any of the same cables it works... I should say at this point I work in IT and I have an extensive sales background in Audio and Video before I worked in IT... I can usually perform my own service if needed but I should not have to with a 500 dollar unit that is only lasting 6 months? I found the Tech notes online and went through them all...Only to be stimied that the Output does not work at all and thus a VD:01 code says my cables are defective... No, they work on everything else... This unit is defective... I bought this unit in October of 2020 (What a year that was.) when my 20+-year-old Sony surround unit died... 20 years out of a surround unit I'm kind of OK with it... But 6 months and the only thing that works is the FM radio? and Phono? That's ludicrous by any standard and to have to pay to ship it to get fixed? That's even more ludicrous... I read the reviews and I said to myself, Meh maybe there are just a few complainers and maybe they set them up wrong or used bad cabling... There is a quality control issue at Denon Best Buy's response is: "You didn't buy the extended warranty. Call Denon's Customer support first..." Not Cool... Extremely disappointed...

      We're very sorry for the poor experience. It sounds like you have what many people experience when using HDMI connected devices, which is an issue with the TV's EDID not negotiating well with the source(s) when there's an HDMI repeating device (AVR) in the mix. The permanent fix for this needs to come from the TV manufacturer as the EDID is generated from the TV every 3 seconds and the AVR has no EDID management built in. You can also try an after market EDID management device, but this is never a guarantee to correct the negotiation. denon
