    Denon Audyssey not working, Phono input distorted

    I had an AVR-X2000 for 5 years that died, wouldn't power up. After a bunch of research and some mixed feelings, I decided to get this Denon upgrade. My general impression of a Denon has been a high quality device and I thought maybe I got unlucky. If you've ever set one of these up, you know you need a TV and a beverage because it takes an hour or two. Thank goodness I still had my old Denon because the Audyssey microphone that is used for setup didn't work and I had to use the one from my old Denon receiver. The monitor connection, like my old Denon, is required for setup and it took forever to get it connected. Unplug/plug and finally a connection. After all of the setup, the phono input is highly distorted. Basically can't be used. I swapped inputs to see if if was maybe my turntable but no, it's the receiver. I want my night back, because this was a waste of time. I'm never buying another Denon again. Queue the Onkyo.

      Hello,
      We're sorry that you had so much trouble with the setup. The AVRs have a Setup Assistant menu that you can access at any time and makes the setup super easy, even for the inexperienced AVR customer. Regarding the Phono input, it sure sounds like your turntable's pre-amp or EQ was set to On. That would definitely cause distortion when using the AVR's Phono input, as you're then pre-amping the signal twice. denon

    I have now had two of them with the same problem. The HDMI output no longer works. This is my second device that did the same thing. I am in the electronics industry and have never seen anything like it. I bought one in June 2019 and it lasted 2 months before it stopped working. I sent it in for repair which took another month before they decided it could not be repaired. I got an email telling me to go pick up another one at Best Buy, so I did only to find out that I had to purchase another Plan. I bought this in September 2019 and it lasted until July 2020. No Thanks on another one.

    Extremely Disappointed in Denon

    I am extremely disappointed in purchasing the Denon AVR-S750H. When using the headphone jack sound cuts out every few seconds. Every morning when I listed to my surround sound through my Denon receiver it cuts out every few seconds, I have to pull out the receiver and disconnect and then reconnect the HDMI to resolve the issue which is most inconvenient and extremely annoying. Per You Tube reviews this seems to be a pattern with Denon receivers. I regret my decision in purchasing but too late to return per Best Buy policy. I would suggest considering another product.

      Hello JRCSF, we apologize for your frustrations. Let me try and provide a solution or direction to get this resolved. Does the headphone audio drop out with HDMI sources only?
      -The problem you are experiencing may be attributed to the TV's EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) dropping the negotiation with the sources when there's an HDMI repeating device like an AVR in the mix. Try connecting the sources to the TV directly via HDMI and use the TV's ARC feature to feed the audio back to the AVR using the already connected HDMI cable between the TV and AVR. This test removes the TV's EDID from the equation. Settings in the receiver can be changed to help with this as well. Please call our customer service team so we may help make this right.     Tuner does not display the station that the device is tuned in to. When we try to tune it, the channels change but the display does NOT display what station we are tuned to. Very frustrating.

    I've had Yama receivers in the past and liked them a lot. My last one (maybe 12 years old) started to get occasional pops so it was time for something new. Denon has been a brand that I have always wanted to try so I bought one. I have to say, Im a bit disappointed. I have tried several settings and watching movies and tv is lacking. Right now it appears that my center channel is not working. I havent taken the dive to trouble shoot yet, but Im pretty good at cabling/wiring so I don't think it's that.

    Not hapoy. It is the same one we returned. The guy we thought was very helpfil in ordering what we needed.we never were notified when it came in until we got a call thst it was sent back. We wrnt in the stire and the girl ssid she coukd order it to be deluvered ti our house we said that woukd be grest. But i think she ordered the first one we returned and not the one returned for us not pucking uo. We will be returnung ut and going thru a different company

    The startup menu looks ancient. Quality of sound was average. Setup menu was not easy. Bluetooth pairing was horrible. I returned this after 2 days of purchasing.

    The Denon that was recommended to me is a really good product and it is servicing it's purpose. I just need a better how to operate and function it, where I can get the most from this receiver

    It's a good stereo but if you have it in a cabinet or entertainment center make sure it is open and not enclosed because it will run hot and cut on and off.
