Denon AVR-S960H for home theater
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Denon AVR-S960H as a replacement for a Sony unit that had developed issues from a power spike, I needed to upgrade to a unit that would handle a 4k through put. This unit works just fine for my application and I really only use it for home theater with a 4k Appletv for streaming and an LG 75" 4k TV. The setup was easy and I really didn't have to do much tweaking after using the Audessey setup tool. I would have to say that I have not been blown away by this unit, but I also have not been disappointed either. I was concerned because the Sony unit I was replacing was a higher end unit for the time however this one works just as well.

Great so far, need more time to learn the functios
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like this receiver, over all options and capabilities are great. I feel it produces good sound through my klipsch speakers. Can’t wait to move to a bigger place and take full advantage of the speaker input capabilities. Only issues I have so far is a lag when media types switch from what I am watching between different apps and such. Once I have more time to dig into the settings to really fine tune it I’ll update this review for sure.

Happy with Denon
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A replacement for a Denon AVR-2313 setup was extremely easy and quick. Works great with plenty of function! The documentation is extremely sparse, covered setup, but it took me a while to figure out how to access the additional music sources. No good description about Heos and how that is the source for all the supported music services. I finally found it in an online search. Able to easily access a variety of music sources from my porch using the mobile app. I find that the mobile app is sometimes inconsistent in its reliability and I have to spend time restarting. Sound is great!

960H
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good mid priced receiver for 65 Panasonic Plasma TV (great video processing) running cable TV, Fire stick and Blu-ray through. Do need to adjust levels but 90 watts is more than adequate to power front floor standing Polk TSI,s Polk center, rear Polk OWM's and bass. Used Rocketfish wireless rear speaker kit to eliminate wires (works great). Tried HEOS app (works good for controlling receiver if needed) and Alexa but interferes with other Alexa products. Been using Fire stick instead to play amazon music and some internet radio. Came from old ONKYO which died but this receiver has much better sound. Setup was pretty easy but do have issues sometimes with the order of how equipment is powered on. Overall happy with purchase and Denon brand so far.

Serious performance receiver!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Highly recommend if u want some serious performance. My older Denon receiver was old and had better days so when I bought my new tv I thought it was time to get this as well I have looked at several and knew this one would do what I intended it for me. Everyone says it gets hot but I don’t really notice a huge difference than my older one but then again I don’t max out the volume for hours on end either at first it smell like it was burning a bit but what doesn’t on the first time using any electronic equipment!

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Switching from my 30 years old Onkyo receiver, because lack of connectivities, Denon as a great sound, multitude of possibilities at very competitive price point, Kicking butts with my JBL studio 590.

Great receiver for not breaking the bank.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far, this receiver has been a great upgrade from our old Yamaha receiver that we had the Geek Squad out three times to 'fix'. Finally, after the warranty expired (of course) by only a couple of days we decided to bite the bullet and get a new receiver. The Geek Squad came out to install it and we couldn't be happier. The sound is great with our five speakers in the living room, and the outside speakers (which can be operated separately) also work great. We're slowly getting used to all the new habits we had to develop to work this receiver but we love it. I would definitely recommend this unit to anyone.

Elderly Friend now in the 21st Century!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Denon receiver was just what I needed to get an elderly friend "up and running". She had never experienced surround sound while watching her movies... she had never streamed movies from the internet... she didn't even know she had a "smart" TV! I took her shopping at Best Buy for a few things she needed. The Best Buy team were customer focused and were very responsive to our questions and needs. The Denon AVR-S96OH *K Ultra HD was easy to set up and integrate with her cable provider and her WiFi. It was also easy to get my elderly friend familiar with using the remote to change listening mode and input!

The sound from this is amazing!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I paired this with my new Optoma UHD38 and it's absolutely stunning! Even the 1080i channels on TV are upscaled to 4k. It's not as good as native 4k sources, but it still blows 1080p out of the water. The sound is amazing and the options for each source are plentiful. Watching movies on my 3080 FTW3 Ultra setup with Dolby Atmos or DTS X is sooooo good. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good mid-range 4k/8k surround sound receiver.

Darn Good Receiver, and could be the one for you
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't like to review things with out giving perspective. I want people to understand where my experience is coming from when I write this. I currently run a 5.1 channel surround sound system in a living room that is less than 380 sq ft. My center is a Klipsch RP-504C, my left and rights are Klipsch r-41M's (will be replaced soon with RP 8000f's), my rears are a pair of Klipsch RP-600M's, and my sub is the SVS PB3000. Due to space and setup, the front floor standing speakers have to remain on hold. Because the room is small in size and SVS puts out so much bass, I was more content going with this receiver. Klipsch are known to come to life with lower amounts of wattage (it's quite true) and mine have an RMS rating of 150W. This is rated to be 90W per channel but it's not for all seven channels, and I am not 100% sure it is actually 90W being produced. I think all receiver menus for tuning such and are so behind the times so I am going to complain about that but the rest of the world is also annoyed at that. Anyway, I have yet to run into any issues with using the menus, it is relatively navigable, and easier to learn using, so that is a plus. The room correction doesn't work really well for my personal setup, perhaps your experience will differ, so I decided to just leave everything standard and just tune my subwoofer accordingly so it's balanced. It's not a perfect solution but it has made for an amazing experience. It has most of the features you're looking for in a receiver, Dolly Atmos, supports up to 8k 60hz, it has plenty of HDMI ports for multiple devices, supports ARC and eARC, supports Dolby Digital, DTS, HDR10 and HDR10+, it is capable of supporting two subwoofers (not individual channels), and more. I bought this while it was on sale for around $549, so if you are looking for a receiver in this range, I would try and wait for a good sale. Otherwise, I would you keep your eye on other receivers around this price range from Denon or Marantz, you might find something much better all around if you stretch your budget. I recommend this product for purchasing but I personally recommend you save the full retail amount and then wait for a big holiday sale. Then, with that $849, see when higher tier models you might be able to get your hands on with the money already allocated toward the receiver. Regardless of your own situation, it won't disappoint.
