I did a careful study on the specs this S960H presented. I needed no more and no less, PERFECT, at a favorable price. This S960H replaced my 5+ year old Denon S910W. The previous Denon was working just fine, but I wanted a new Denon with an updated processor along with software improvements. I was NOT disappointed. Sound from my 5.1 speaker set-up, is much improved! I am a 98% DD movie watcher and this new Denon fits the bill...long story short. I highly recommend. It has a 2 year factory warranty and don't forget to register it on Denon's website

Very impressed with this receiver, with one exception, it has a frustratingly small amount of 8k/4k 120fps inputs: 1. Otherwise, sound quality is fantastic, works well with CEC and has all of the surround sound options I could ask for. Denon quality.

This Denon AVR has excellent sound quality. The setup was a little more complicated than expected, but the result was worth it. The added feature of a setup microphone to balance and adjust speaker performance worked great. I would have given an over all 5 stars except for two minor inconveniences. 1. The controller while programmable to a point, would not control the FIOS set top box channel selections, and 2. The system could have come with written setup instructions and troubleshooting support. These issues while minor were disappointing for the dollar spent.

The Denon S960H has Denon's traditional high quality sound, available now in even more formats than earlier models, including Dolby Digital Surround Sound (love it!). It has the current grade of HDMI connections and even has connections for a CD player (I still use one) as well as a phonograph. This is my fourth Denon and is the best one yet. The earlier models all still worked, but became obsolete as new sound and video formats became dominant.

I actually bought this as a gift for my nephew so that he could play his Xbox Series X at 4K and 120 fps through it and out to his OLED 4K HDR TV while getting support for the latest audio codecs. He reports that it was easy to set up, has a ton of music streaming services he's just beginning to explore, has all the bells and whistles he could ask for and is very happy with it. He might well give it a higher rating than me, but I'm a bit of a video and audio snob and am not as easily impressed by Denon.

Absolutely love it! For this price point, you really cannot go wrong if you are not exceeding a 7.1 or 5.1.2 setup. I have this paired with klipsch speakers set up as 5.1.2 Dolby atmos. It brings every movie and game alive. Knowing it is 4k @ 120 and 8k capable, I’ll see myself keeping this unit for several years before needing to consider upgrading. If you want more then 5.1 with atmos, you will need to consider a higher model with more channels.

I thought upgrading to a new AV receiver with my new 8K TV would be necessary since the 960h has 8K support. As it turns out, passing input signals through the Denon just confuses the setup and makes switching between inputs (Blue-ray, PC, Security Cams, etc.) a slow, clunky operation. For example, when I hear something outside and I press the appropriate input for my security cam NVR, I expect to instantly see my security system...like I was able to with my old setup. Not so with the Denon. Evidently this receiver needs to figure a bunch of things out before it decides to let the user see anything at all, and then when you do get your input device showing, there's a full-width black box across the bottom 1/3 of the screen confirming source info. Frustrating! So I simply plugged all my inputs directly into the TV and I'm using the eARC channel to return the audio to the receiver and out to my surround speakers. The TV is way better at handling this simple task. In short, I spent over six hundred fifty bucks to add bluetooth connectivity to my setup. There are other disappointing things like HEOS (a complete joke), the 1990's style on screen interface, and the inconsistent way certain buttons operate on the remote, but my biggest complaint is the input switching which any AVR should excel at. I do not recommend this product.

This was a last minute purchase due to my receiver having a dead rear channel. This was all that Bestbuy had in stock that fit my needs especially a receiver that had 2 channels and offered airplay. What I got was a super easy to use receiver, great easy to read back lighting and easy to use remote control. It works wonderful and for a receiver in the $500+ range you can’t go wrong. AND it has a very user friendly iPhone app and if you want you can use the HEOS app.
