I usually dont leave 4 stars. This is an exceptional receiver but its definitely difficult to understand. The set up takes some getting used to. And if you want the best sound you are gonna have to go into setting and go auddussey calibration. That is definitely time consuming. And it comes with a mic but you cant calibrate your speakers without it. It sounds great. It just takes a lot of figuring out. Nor i never know what setting to put it on during movie or music.

Set-up with my audio/video system was very difficult because the assumptions of such systems have changed since last I made a radical modification. The new Denon item is not just a tuner/amplifier, but a central audio/video control item (whereas I had set up my previous arrangement with a laptop computer as the central "brain" of the system, that computer now being just another input to the Denon). It was worth all the frustration. The sound quality is phenomenal!

Easy set up, lot to play around with. I have an old not HDR capable TV with 1 HDMI 2.0a port of 4 (the others 1.4) and with everything plugged into the AVR with one output to the 2.0a, I think the AVR is upgrading the signal to one even this older TV displays as HDR. 5.1 sound is fantastic but I think I need a couple of new tower speakers for front left/right. Echo Dot is plugged in for music streaming from Spotify. I have also listened over blu tooth ear buds.

Great especially for the price. Setting it up was easy with audyssie set up and after that I dialed the sound in through the menus. The dolby atmos sounds great and it powers my twin Polk subwoofers for amazing bass when playing music and thundering sounds when watching movies. The Heist app connecting through Bluetooth is also great for streaming music from my phone. I recommend this act received highly and it was a great replacement for my old sony avr received.

I purchased this to power my Klipsch Reference setup. It has so many features that I probably won't use. However, just setting it up out of the box and juust testing it without doing any room calibration using the included mic it sounded like I was in a movie theater. Once I get it configured with the included mic and software it will get even better. Definitely worth the money.

My previous amp was a Denon as well and is about 10 years old and still works but I had to upgrade when I bought a new 4K TV so I'm sure this will last a long time as well. This Denon AVR-S960H does so much I am still discovering what it can do. The speaker set up is the easiest with the Audyssey Mic. It does a great job balancing your surround system. Adding different components is a breeze with the menu. So fat I am very happy with this item and at a good price.

Replaced a Denon AVR-3300 that I had for 20 years. This sounds fabulous. I love the Zone 2 for my pool area and really enjoy the wireless control and HEOS app to play music from my apps while I am outside. The auto setup for the surround sound sound has so much better clarity than my old surround setup. Still trying to figure out how to have full control of Zone 2 with my Alexa.

I got this specifically to pair with my PS5 and LG CX OLED. When changing the input to 8K (which is also default for 4k 120hz) it usually does not have display on the TV or audio through surround sound for PS5 initially. I have to turn the receiver off and back on then it works.
I contacted Denon about it and they advised it's an issue on their 2020 models. Not a big issue, just annoying. With more receivers coming out this year with HDMI 2.1 I'd recommend passing on this one and getting something different which works 100%.
Also, the remote doesn't have lights for the buttons which is an inconvenience for use in the dark.

This receiver was easy to setup and sounds great. It replaced a 4k Onkyo receiver and I can tell an improvement in picture and sound. This Denon has an EQ that allows adjustment by individual speaker or all which really improves audio quality though you need to experiment with settings. The menu's are very user friendly and take little time to navigate where you want. This is my second Denon AVR and couldn't be any happier.

4stars here because I am still figuring it out. New to home theater and there is a bunch to go through with crossovers and settings alike. Easy to set up, but for me loudness is an issue but I am sure it’s how I have the audyssey program settings with the speakers. I am doing more investigating and research on how to use this thing. I’m sure a 5 star will be in the future if it doesn’t break down in two months like other reviews.

Demon receivers are in a class of their own, sound quality is above the rest, and setup is very simple.
