There was an installation learning curve to understand the features and how to tweak them. Most documented, some through trial and error. The setup program was highly useful in that it identified several speaker wiring issues. Once corrected, the 7.1 surround sound was brilliant, clear, and full!

Love this receiver! Paired it with my def tech towers,center channel and surrounds. The sound is amazing and integrates well with my Firestick.

First time trying a Denon, I love it. A decent price for a very nice av, so easy to set up and tune to your room. I would do it agin.

This is a excellent receiver, i replaced a older onkyo receiver that i had for over 15 years and the quality of performance of the Denon vs the onkyo is a big difference , i went from a 5.1 to 7.2 and wow the quality of sound and seperation is great

This replaced my avr-3311 which was a great amp, this one is a quality piece, but just has way too much crap in the software which most people will never use or need for any system, after the last firmware update I literally had to start at square one again and was not pleased, the phono imput is a preamp which if you have a newer turntable is useless, my pro-ject is one of the best I’ve ever owned and when I dropped the needle for the first time I thought the stylus had been broken, then after another thirty minutes on the phone with the manufacturer I was informed that the phono needed to be switched out to an auxiliary input, once that smoke cleared everything was back to somewhat normal, but there’s more, the simple fact that you must run the audio setup to access fifty percent of the functionality of the receiver is nothing more than a joke, also note that to properly run a 7.1 surround you are guided to use both zones,? Which I still don’t get, but I’m no sound engineer, just a simple stagehand who has delt with some of the largest and loudest systems on the planet, lol but it is what it is… for the most part this is a decent receiver, just be forewarned that there are a lot of hoops to jump through to acces some items, and be ready to call the manufacturer during setup at least a few times….

Very good sound system. Sound is very high quality. This system makes the area a theater atmosphere.

Great unit! I've had it for about 6 months now and I have no complaints Great sound and lots of features.

So much easier to setup than my previous Sony receiver. Works great and sound output is more than enough for surround sound setup.

Very pleased with the Denon AVR-S970H. Remote capabilities and user interfaces work very well.

This is my 3rd Denon Receiver. I got this to replace one of two 5 yr old unit Denon AVR 2700 receivers that died as I was very happy with the one I had I was happy to buy from them again. i have had this unit for 3 months now and so far I am happy with it (it does not play the audio from Oppo players) but for everything else it has perform flawlessly. Woke up this morning and my 2nd 2700 appears to be dying the same way as the first one did. make me wonder if the life of these units are only 5 or 6 years. but for the price I paid I am going with another company due to no sound on my Oppo (Just video).

Sets up relatively easy. Walk through process, just make sure you go into all the settings to make the playback as good as you can. Otherwise, set it up with some towers and a separate in wall set up and it does wonders for both!
