This AVR does everything I need it to with so many connections. I’m using my old AVR as my xtra speakers with connections back to the original AVR hookups of DVD, phono and DVR!! Love it!

Not what I expected

The user interface is kind of cryptic. It really seemed to compress music when the music has loud parts. Just not what I thought it would be. Ended up returning and getting the 1800.

Posted .Hello MrRT, First, thank you for your support and constructive feedback. I want to provide you with additional setup advice that applies to both the Denon AVR-X1800H and the AVR-S970H. Both receivers offer Dynamic Volume and Dynamic Compression features. In the service manual for the AVR-X1800H, please reference pages 155 and 164 for assistance with these features. Based on your needs, I recommend turning the Dynamic Compression feature off and setting the Dynamic Volume to Low. If you require additional assistance, please get in touch with Denon support at 800-497-8921.

Posted .Hello, and thank you for your purchase. You can set the power-on volume for the Denon AVR-S970H to a specific level. In the settings, navigate to Audio > Volume > Power-on Level. There will be three options to choose from: Last, Mute, or Specific. Great Receiver, but

The only reason I can't give it five stars is because after turning it off it occasionally turns itself back on. I've mentioned this to technicians, but no solution has been found. I have the very same issue with another Denon Receiver purchased two years ago. Not a problem if you remain at home but is a problem if you are leaving the house.
