After replacing my Harmon Kardon receiver that was 18 years old. This unit really woke up my Klipsch speakers! They never sounded so crisp and alive! I up graded to 5.1.2 ATMOS Surround. This unit handles it well.

I am running multiple consoles and a PC though it onto a 85 inch TV, typically it knows when to swap to the next input when i change what console I'm using. I use it for surround sound for streaming and in house multi-player gaming. Love how Denon products can connect to each other so when you are hosting a get together at home in my example i can group both recievers so both my upstairs and downstairs surround play the same with no delay or difference! Some settings take a little to figure out but with help everything can be dialed in.

Surround mode clarity depends on audio track quality. It do not improve sound in old movies, but really crispy and punchy in new films recorded in full Dolby Atmos.

This is awesome and my wife noticed that its alot louder and better sound quality. I mainly purchased it for the passthrough fory PlayStation 5 and xbox serious X. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants a good quality receiver without the large price tag

Posted .Hello JoesS. Thank you for taking the time to post your findings with your new AVR-S970H. Since the addition of surround sound features and video signal support, AVRs have been able to offer a long list of conveniences. Now we are also able to stream, and communicate wirelessly with external devices, the list gets even longer. For those who wish to only connect 2 channel audio sources, we have stereo integrated amplifiers which are the same as a traditional stereo receiver, but without the analog tuner. Analog tuners are much less in demand these days due to the popularity and convenience of internet radio, which can be added to any of our stereo integrated amplifiers which do not already have a HEOS engine built-in.

A Really Nice Receiver

My older Pioneer died so I was forced to upgrade. It's great to be able to finally connect my Apple TV 4K through the receiver rather than having to go through the TV / ARC. I also have a Pioneer Elite LX305 in my basement and I would have considered saving some money and going with this in that room as well if this model had been available.

I returned a Onkyo Tx-NR6100 and bought the Denon AVR-S970H instead ONLY because it had a better remote and DAC (32bit vs 24bit with the Onkyo). The sound quality is absolutely amazing!! I would have given this item a 5 star if it wasn't over-priced. However, what that said, I highly recommended this product .... especially for you Sony PS5 people like myself!

This receiver really impressed me with the on-screen setup features, the integrated smartphone app, the sound quality, and the ability to seamlessly work with my television and my Apple TV. Admittedly, this receiver has more features than I will actually ever use. If you have a big format 4K (or even 8K) television and want great audio to match, this is definitely a worthwhile purchase.

Great sounding unit!

My only problem comes with listening to the dialog on movies and shows. The sound quality in that comes from the center channel is flat and a bit muffled at times. I will play with the sound and see if I cant add some some clarity and brightness to it. Otherwise, i am pleased with my purchase.

I want to point out that the AVR-S970H has a Dialogue enhancement feature that may help.
