All the specifications as noted on the best buy website are accurate and works as expected. One of the only downsides, if you’re just upgrading your really old full Home Theater system, you will need to buy an active Subwoofer to meet the specs of the speakers; not a downside for those with a better receiver than an the average Home Theater. Good product and performance overall!!

Posted .Hello, and thank you for your purchase. You can set the power-on volume for the Denon AVR-S970H to a specific level. In the settings, navigate to Audio > Volume > Power-on Level. There will be three options to choose from: Last, Mute, or Specific. Not what I expected

The user interface is kind of cryptic. It really seemed to compress music when the music has loud parts. Just not what I thought it would be. Ended up returning and getting the 1800.

Posted .Hello MrRT, First, thank you for your support and constructive feedback. I want to provide you with additional setup advice that applies to both the Denon AVR-X1800H and the AVR-S970H. Both receivers offer Dynamic Volume and Dynamic Compression features. In the service manual for the AVR-X1800H, please reference pages 155 and 164 for assistance with these features. Based on your needs, I recommend turning the Dynamic Compression feature off and setting the Dynamic Volume to Low. If you require additional assistance, please get in touch with Denon support at 800-497-8921.

Posted .Hello. We appreciate you posting your review of the AVR-S970H. We recommend checking to make sure you have CEC (HDMI Control) engaged. This link explains how: https://manuals.denon.com/AVRS970H/NA/EN/GFNFSYkfayrqor.php If that doesn't solve the issue, to try doing a soft reset (unplugging from it's power source for at least 5 minutes) and checking to make sure you have the latest firmware for smooth operation.
