Excellent receiver, 9 channels, plenty of power, and easy to setup! Highly recommended. Would purchase again. Light years ahead of the Pioneer Elite Receiver I replaced

Denon, the makers of some of the most reliable and high performing AVRs in the AV space, really hits the sweet spot with their AVR-X3700H. Nine channels of amplification built in for a 5.1.4 setup without any outboard gear. And if one wants to go 7.1.4 the AVR allows for a 2-channel amp addition. Plenty of power/channel (105W although this drops when more than one channel is playing but don't let that scare you), All the bells and whistles one could ever want. And I should know—I'm a professional AV consultant/installer.

Decided to give Denon a try after being a loyal Onkyo fan. Was ALMOST about to do Yamaha but the Audyssey setup of Denon swung it for me. Couldn’t be happier. Easy to set up and runs cool.

For the price, it does what I need it to do. If you’re willing to spend an extra 1500 to get the 6700 model… That gives you 140 W per channel and it allows you to power 11 speakers and two subwoofers without use of a preamp
With the 3700 you can hook up additional ceiling speakers but you need a preamp for two more, all that being said it’s an incredible receiver and Atmos is just hard core
I also appreciate the 8K compatibility, the 4K 120 Hz capability and the sound quality.

Bought this to replace a slightly outdated denon that only had hdmi 1.4 and ARC instead of eARC and hdmi 2.1. The eARC works great. I paired this with a newer model smart tv and the surround sound works flawlessly. Set up was very easy using the denon setup menus and included microphone.
If you run this unit with a smart tv and 4k bluray player, plug the bluray player into the receiver instead of the smart tv and relying on the eARC if you want surround sound.

Overall great sound quality, good selection of ports supports additional speakers with external Amp (9.2 or 7.2.2 on its own, if you add a stand alone amp it will process upto 9.2.2, 7.4.2 or 11.2). Room correction is good at this level of product.
Helios and alexa smart interface is buggy (do not let that be the reason for purchase). Only 1 8k input (also used to be cheaper - Denon raised MSRP)

Had to replace my Outlaw Audio 990 after 14 years of service so I decided to use a AV receiver as a preamp to go with the model 7125 7 channel amp I still have. Night and day difference! The sound quality took a major step forward and running video thru to my TV also improved. This thing works great as a preamp. It’s been said that it runs hot when using the built in amplifiers, but in preamp mode it’s barely warm to the touch. 7.1 channel outputs means this can grow as your system requirements grow.

I will start off by saying that when I first set it up, I did have some issues with it. Those issues turned out to be a bad HDMI cable though. Once I replace that, the receiver has been absolutely amazing! The step by step set up of the speakers and the auto speaker leveling program were easy to use and understand. It feels like I am at the theater now and have since spent most evenings in the home theater watching whatever I can.

I bought this Denon receiver to help support the use of an external amplifier that I use for my front three speakers. I still use the Denon for the rear surround speakers and it works great. The quality of sound coming from this receiver is awesome and I really like the mobile app used with it for playing music from my smart phone and streaming services.
Highly recommended!

Receiver is unstable with RTX 3000 series GPUs.

While the sound quality and setup are excellent, the receiver does not correctly pass 4K120Hz 10-bit signals from NVidia 3000 series GPUs.
Setting up the receiver and the GPU according to the sound united video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blWc3MDwD8k) does indeed yield an image on screen, however that image is not stable. After a while the entire color palate will become corrupt rainbows.
The corruption doesn't always occur immediately, but it is especially pronounced when enabling VRR in the form of G-sync. However the issue does occur even if no VRR has been enabled. Bypassing the AVR, and connecting the HDMI cable directly to the LG OLED TV resolves all my issues. Setting the refresh rate to 60Hz also works, however, VRR isn't available at that refresh rate.
I wouldn't recommend this for anyone looking to pair an NVidia GPU with an HDMI 2.1 receiver.

This is a top notch receiver and it's economical as compared to other receivers in its class. The setup is super easy, and the suod is great. After running the setup (Takes a little time, but easy), the surroud sound is terrific. It follows the action from front to back. I've only had it a short time, but I'm impressed.

Traded in a Yamaha 2070 because the hdmi board was acting up. Glad I did. The denon sounds much better. I also like the menu better then the other. Only gripe is I prefer to see the speaker layout on the front display, but I can't seem to get this option on the Denon.

So I love this product. I only give it 4 stars because honestly it was pretty expensive in order to get what I wanted. I just feel like this could have been cheaper but you get what you pay for. I wanted all of these features and the only way to get them all was a high end receiver. I saw a lot for $700 range and I wanted to spend that amount. However I'm please with the purchase and it's only money right?

Lots of Options, but Lacks Power

If you have a smaller surround sound setup, put together primarily with bookshelf speakers, this Denon will work very nicely. It has a ton of options, including a phono input, and it'll be future-proof for quite a while with its 8K passthrough and HDCP 2.3 HDMI connections.
However, if your system is setup with large tower speakers that crave power, this receiver just isn't powerful enough, and you'll be doing your theater room a disservice.
I returned this receiver and instead purchased a used Denon AVR-X7200WA, their 2015 flagship receiver with power to spare. It still runs HDR and Dolby Vision. And with no 8K content on the horizon, a receiver than can passthrough 8K is essential useless for the time being.
If you need power, at least go for the 4700H. But if that's not an issue, the 3700H is perfect.

This is a great AV Receiver. It improved our sound quality considerably compared to our previous AV receiver. This unit is very easy to operate and I like the fact that it has various sound settings. The remote is great. It has the ability to control various other pieces of equipment with ease. It has various streaming site built in and they are very easy to access using the remote.
