    I Really like the versatility of the unit. I was able to add my Sonos speakers to play in the theater room as well

    So far so good. I had just bought the s970 denon receiver amazing product but i wanted more options and a reasonable price. Has a great processor. And a wide range of speaker setups.

    Receiver is Complicated Computer With Glitches

    The receiver is now a computer. You can no longer just hook it up and it works. The settings are a challenge to get right. The interface is frustrating. The automated set up would not work, unless you already had it hooked up and working. (?!?!) The manual (300+ pages) does not make sense at many points. For example….it took me 45 minutes to do the FM/AM presets. It is almost easier to get the the right area and then just play with the remote/interface and learn it as you go. The worst thing was the speaker configuration settings. So complex it took me four hours to get the system to recognize the back surround speakers. The trick is that you must select that you have side surround speakers (even though they do not exist) in order to get the option to have back surround speakers. Also note the sound types on the colored buttons at the bottom of the remote. You might need to set them every time you change inputs. Generally, it could use more power. Plan to spend hours every weekend for a solid month to get this receiver fully up and running.

    I was so excited to finally upgrade after many, many years with my current receiver. The new Denon worked great, sounded great with my new Klipsch speakers, for 19 days until the network error. This must be somewhat common as it was easy to find the 2B02 error online. BuyBest was completely useless because the unit is outside of the 15 window and I did not purchase the expensive extended warranty. This was extremely disappointing since I have been a long time BestBuy customer and credit card holder. Denon is going to honor their warranty but it does not look like shipping is included for the return to the service center. I think all future purchases for electronics will be through Crutchfield since the customer experience and customer service has been top notch. In fact, I should have purchased the receiver through Crutchfield since it was the same price but I was impatient and deceived to pick it up at a local BestBuy store. This has become a painful and expensive reminder that customer service is dying.

    DO NOT BUY THIS OR ANY OTHER PRODUCT FROM BEST BUY. I have over the last several years tried to support my local BestBuy buy making purchasing from them when I could. So I bout this product on 3/29 but was out of town when it arrived. I out it together on 4/14 for my wife's birthday which is on 4/15. As we were watching a show, the unit shut down going into "protection mode" as it was either overheating or had some other issue. I replaced an older version of this unit which never had those problems so didn't think it would be an issue. So I woke up this morning, 4/15 and immediately went online to the chat with BestBuy to start a return. They refused to take it back. I never though about the fact that the return policy would be 15 days because nobody in US retail would have such a terrible return policy UNLESS they were desperate. In my experience, and this reminds me of when restoration hardware almost went bankrupt years ago, companies with bad customer service and return policies are at the tail end of their profitable existence as they have had to make the choice between hanging on to margin at the expense of losing customers. I suspect, this is where BestBuy is headed. What they don't realize is that this return policy will only expedite the exodus from them. IF you want to by this product, make sure you have a ton of space around it for cooling and that you only want 2 zones for speakers, because while it has 9 channels it only allows 2 zones. For 3 you have to pay up even more. But again, don't buy it from Worst Buy, Buy it from AMAZON.

      Hello,

      We’re sorry to hear about the issues you’re experiencing with your receiver. To help you troubleshoot, we recommend calling our Product Support team for assistance. As a helpful suggestion, please check all connected speaker wires. A frayed wire touching another speaker wire or terminal can cause the receiver to go into protection mode. Make sure to inspect all speaker wire connections at both the speaker end and the back of the receiver.

      Additionally, proper ventilation is essential for heat dispersion. We recommend maintaining a minimum of 6 inches of space above the AVR and 2 inches on either side. This will reduce the risk of the unit overheating, especially when playing at high volume levels.

      Regarding the addition of extra zones, the Denon AVR-X3800H features HEOS built-in, allowing you to add additional wireless HEOS speakers. Up to 32 zones can be accommodated with HEOS.
