Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the AVR-X4700H's sound quality, ease of use, and setup process. Many appreciate its powerful performance across multiple channels and the inclusion of Dolby Atmos. While some found the price high and noted that the unit can get warm during use, the positive feedback on features and sound quality outweighs these concerns. The receiver's extensive features and capabilities are also frequently praised.

Oh I thought i was in love.. but.. NOPE! Packed with everything I ever needed. A real powerhouse. Phenomenal on paper. Sleek. Smart. I would even say sexy. And then after a couple weeks of pure honeymoon bliss, with normal use, this receiver started getting crazy on me. Video on and no sound, random input change clicks, video going in and out. Weird faint ticking and buzzing noises through my speakers is all it would do. Tried all troubleshooting known to tech mankind.. nothing. As i was sitting there in near rage due to the price point, i heard a click and a pop and sound on! ????? So like any good tech nerd i thought, ah ha! An HDMI issue.. powered unit off and swapped out all HDMI cables with crisp clean new 8K ones. Sat on the couch smiling again thinking of all the great times we are gonna have together and .... Denzel was practicing his mime skills? no sound. AGAIN! I moved the unit to look at the back and heard another pop.. the audyssey menu comes up on my LG C9 and... sound back on! Like, what??? I went to my room with tears and turned on my 7 year old Yamaha who greeted me warmly. Sorry, with the return window winding down, and the Panasonic HDMI 2.1 conspiracy that DOES affect this receiver, Im not taking any chances with $2K of hard earned money ... maybe when you do a little quality control Denon/Sound United I will think of you. Until then back to swiping right and left. RETURNED!

Sorry to hear that. The problems you were having sound like mostly EDID negotiation issues and CEC commands switching sources. Those CEC problems are generally corrected by disabling the CEC in all source devices and then disabling the AVR's TV Audio Switching menu option to Off. This disables the AVR from responding to another device's CEC commands. The EDID troubleshooting is a little more tricky and involves testing with a different make/model TV. A different TV will produce different EDID, so the logic says the results should be different as well. You could've also disconnected the HDMI output cable from the back of the AVR and then tested for any audio cut out leaving the HDMI output cable disconnected. This test removes the TV's EDID from the equation and only allows for communication between the source and AVR. At that point, see if the audio cut out still exists. Regarding the 2.1 issue with the chip set, that currently affects one specific 8K source device. We will have a correction for that in the near future. All other 8K source devices have been tested to work with all of our 2.1 version AVRs. denon
