Customers are saying
Customers are impressed with the AVR-X4700H's sound quality, ease of use, and setup process. Many appreciate its powerful performance across multiple channels and the inclusion of Dolby Atmos. While some found the price high and noted that the unit can get warm during use, the positive feedback on features and sound quality outweighs these concerns. SoundDropper
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Big disappointment. The sound would constantly drop out and the only way to get it back would be to turn things off and back on again, change channels, change sources or reset things. Returned it to my local Best Buy store for a refund. This model also suffered from some kind of a chipset bug which affected the 4K/120 pass through requiring the addition of an adapter or another component or bypass. Went back to using my 4 year old Sony, with no issues, while waiting on my new Pioneer to arrive. Setup was easy. Controls and user interface was easy to use.

Posted .We're sorry to hear about your experience. It is unfortunate we didn't have the chance to speak with you regarding technical assistance. Many issues of this type can often be resolved over the phone. Not least so both parties have the chance to discover where the issue resided.
We're always keen to maintain faith in our equipment from people such as yourself wishing to get the best out of our products.

Great sound but horrible quality
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great sound but horrible quality.. Just under five months into owning it and the Heigh 1 channels are making static noises.. Denon wants me to ship it back for repair (in the meantime, I had to reconfigure the Amp-Config back to 5.1 to disable the channels). Had an issue with a Marantz SR7012 before, so it is clear quality control is way down for Sound United (parents of D&M holdings - owners of Denon and Marantz among others)

Posted .As we are unable to be in front of your equipment to see where the problem resides, we do require the product make it's way to one of our service centers so we can see if your AVR-X4700H is responsible for the symptom you have described.
It could be one of a few things in your system. Your AVR-X4700H is just one possibility.
We shall do an evaluation at our service center to see if your receiver behaves the same way when put through the same type of test.
We do inspect a lot of equipment where the result is no fault found, but we do cover the cost of shipping the product back to you.

Prof.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good but not easy to set up. Had a problem with the sound. Took a long time for me to fix it. Also, problems with setting up the connection to the device that beams the signal to my hearing aids. Had to get the audiologist come over to fix it.

Horrible customer service!! Broken receiver!!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am massively upset with a failed device! I got to east buy for all of my electronics purchases. I was in contact with both chat customer service and via telephone call and I got disconnected and dropped both times. I bought a brand new $2200 Denon home theater receiver. I just first connected this to brand new speakers and brand new speaker wire only to find that my right speaker channel has failed and came like this from Best Buy. I was told that I can no longer return this item and they cannot help me. I am furious and I can’t believe this is the level of customer service I’m receiving on a pretty significant investment from this company. I have been loyal to Best Buy and have spent thousands and thousands of dollars with them. I even purchased a geek squad protection and did not even get offered a solution to them. It seems to be that this company has lost its integrity in good customer service and how they handled my first request for assistance ever on anything. It’s a joke they said I’m out in elite customer. I don’t care what you call me replace this failed item with a new device as one would expect when they surprisingly purchase something given as new but is actually broken. So please be warned and be aware that this is how these people are operating. I’m very disappointed and very upset. I will no longer purchase anything from Best Buy for myself personally or any of my companies.

Broken after 2 weeks
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Audio and video randomly shuts down about once an hour. Only lasts 2s like a reset but receiver stays on. Speaker icons flash off and back on like loss of signal. Happens on multiple inputs. PC. PS4. DTV. Might try exchange if they ever come back in stock. Or might go back to Onkyo or Yamaha. This is 2 broken Denons in 2 years.

ALMOST A KEEPER
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First setup went flawless everything seemed good until a few weeks later when I rearranged some speakers and then did Audssey to recalibrate the system it didn't work. Audssey had gone out on it as a few more menu items totally screwing up, would not respond.

DO NOT BUY!
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a terrible waste of money. You have to go through multiple extra steps to turn the system on with Samsung products. Also, it works intermittently requiring repeated visits by the Geek squad(if you are lucky enough to get a hold of them). Basically at this point, I am not using this item and just relying on the TV speakers. I have give-up trying to get help from Best Buy. It's impossibly difficult.

Spectacular!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fantastic purchase. Upgraded Denon AVR-3805 that is 15+ year old; still sounds great but didn’t have HDMI connectivity and didn’t support 4k video. Got all that I needed/wanted for today and for near future (Considered previous gen AVR-X4500H but wanted to be futureproofed with 8k capability). New AVR-X4700H is spectacular. Sounds as great as expected for music, plus noticeable improvement in home theatre sound due to support of latest surround sound formats, particularly height virtualization. Video improvement is huge; finally can see 4K video on my TV, and even 1080p looks better ( even on my mid-level Vizio M55 TV). Upgrade in functionality is massive. FYI: compared 4700H to 3700H in person @ local Best Buy Magnolia. Glad I did. Sound difference is not big but noticeable. That combined with improved capabilities made it worth the extra $$ I paid. Not cheap but worth it.

A great receiver you should not buy in 2023
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If your researching the 4700 just get the Denon 3800 instead. The 3800 has the new Denon user interface, has an upgrade path to Dirac Live room correction, has outputs and individual support for 4 subwoofers, has an update roadmap that is bringing some great new features and has 5 fully features HDMI 2.1 ports. The 4700 just doesn’t give you the value you’ll get out of the 3800h.

Insanely Happy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So happy with the quality from this. Paired with Klipsch RP 8000 center, RP 5040C center, RP 12" sub, and a couple surrounds and atmos speakers, I have been so impressed. Went with Denon over Marantz from the recommendations on Audio Science Review. Plays very well with my LG c1 77".
