Poor quality sound cable and head weight. 1 star

Purchased Jan 2022. First used in March 2022. At first the turntable worked well. After a couple months, the arm weight stopped working and would skip across the entire record. Adjusting the weight did not work so I tapped a nickel on the head. That worked. Then the connection failed on the left, nothing but static. The connector is built in so you cannot replace the cable. Its junk.

After less than a year, the player stopped playing records at a steady speed. It is under factory warranty, so we'll see if they can fix it, but this is something I did not expect from Denon.

Unfortunately, this belt driven turntable worked fine on 1st couple of albums but then started to slow down and speed up. After a total of about 3 hours of using, I decided to return it. The belt is a VERY thin material. I tried recalibrating the tone arm counterweight and a different power source and could not correct it. I will probably look at direct drives after this.

Pure Engineered Crap. I thought Denon would be a solid turntable brand, especially at a 400-500 dollar price point. Looks nice. The first thing I did when setting up the turnable was to find the feet DO NOT level. There is no way to level this turntable, unless you slide Beer coasters under the feet, which obviously doesn't go with the look. Set up was not too complicated, but I watched a video on it. Sound is fine and the auto-mechanism is nice. I'm going to probably return this item.

We very much appreciate your feedback. Customer satisfaction is a priority for us because valued customers like you help us continue to be one of the leading brands in quality sound products. If I may recommend leveling the stand that the TT will be placed on to help prevent having to use beer coasters. If leveling the stand is not possible, consider using small felt pads under the record player's feet. However, I will be sharing your feedback with our customer support team. If we can be of assistance in the future, please do not hesitate to reach out. denon

I took it out of the box and hooked it up and it doesn’t work. I’m trying to find time to do online research to see if I can make it work. Since you have a 2 week return policy, I will probably have to eat the cost of the turn table if I can’t get it to work.

Product delivered Dec 23rd. Set it up on Jan 15th. Played a few albums. Turntable speed decreased for some unknown reason. Took it to a my local store for an exchange and found out that I was outside of the exchange policy. Store said to try another store or bestbuy.com. Bestbuy.com said sorry you have to deal with the manufacturer. Sorry Best Buy, I can no longer do business with you based on this experience, my business policy is not aligned with yours . Sad after spending 1000's with you over the years. -Goodbye and Goodluck

Hello, the Denon DP-300F Turntable allows for internal phone EQ or external phono EQ. If connecting to a device with an internal phono EQ, disable the built-in EQ. Be sure to activate the EQ within the DP-300F if the connected device does not have one. denon

Great turntable - solid design and function

Turntable is fully automatic which makes playing 45s and LPs super easy with just a press of a button. The setup took a bit of tweaking with balancing the tone arm but I was playing my old records in no time. You really can't beat this great turntable for the price. The needle cartridge that it ships with is plenty good you won't be disappointed with the sound. It has a solid feel and modern design, I am very pleased with the Denon DP-300F turntable.

OK if you're willing to work for it

I bought this turntable for two reasons, one: it's fully automatic, two: I got $50.00 off through a price match. At first,I was thrilled to hear my old vinyl records again, but the more I listened, the more it just sounded off. I researched before I bought and read about the speed issues with this turntable, but I decided to take a chance. I eventually downloaded and printed up a strobe mat and sure enough, this turntable was running fast.So I ended up having to adjust the speed which was pretty much a pain in the keester. The adjustments are made underneath just behind the left front foot. Once I got it dialed down into the neighborhood of 33 1/3, it sounds much better. I'm sure with a cartridge upgrade, it'll really shine. If you're willing to go through the hassle of adjusting the speed, you'll have a sweet little entry level fully automatic turntable. In retrospect, I would have just purchased a ProJect turntable and lived without the automatic feature and enjoyed the better cartridge out of the box.

I found set-up pretty easy, it only took about 5 minutes, You just need to put the counter weight and phono cartridge onto the tone arm, balance the arm so it floats over the table, and adjust the weight and anti-skate control to "2". You need to put the drive belt onto the spool, and turn on or off the phono preamp button, (it depends on what you are hooking the table up to. It's really much easier than it sounds. The table functions automatically, at the touch of a button the tone arm moves to the record, and at the end of the side it lifts and returns to its rest. IMO the stock cartridge sounds pretty good, producing excellent imaging. Bought this table for personal use inside my condo, so I can't say how it performs at extreme volume. I subtracted one star because the plastic power buttons seem a bit flimsy, (they work fine). Also, I'm used to a more heavy platter, though there are tables on the market way less substantial than this one. This seems to be a very good table for the money.

I got it on sale for $200. At this price, this is the best automatic turntable on market. This is a very nice (looking) turntable with excellent (in my opinion) sound even with built-in phono amp and supplied cartridge. Yes, you may get slightly better sound with more expensive (>$200) cartridges, but for me the supplied cartridge seems very good. Setting-up this turntable was very easy and it took me no more than 10-15min to set it up from the moment I opened the box. The needle drops smoothly when using either the automatic mechanism or the manual lever. The only drawback that I can see is that RCA cables are hardwired (not a major issue however). I also wish it had a built-in ADC. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase.

My wife commented during the Christmas season that she'd love to have the Sound of Music album. I ordered that and knew I'd have to get a better turntable than the garbage cheap Bluetooth one we have. Grabbed this Denon because it had very solid reviews everywhere. I was not disappointed. Simple plug and play in a regular line level Denon receiver, with the "EQ" switch off since I had phono-level inputs. I was shocked at the sound quality. Expected pops and hissing (it's been years since i heard a decent turntable). At nominal listening level, it was incredibly quiet as far as noise goes, and again, sounded great. I would recommend.

I should be showing up as a "verified purchaser" as I have had this turntable for a few weeks now. Normally Best Buy sends an email asking me to comment on my purchases but so far I have yet to receive one. If it comes, I will simply update my experience with this fine piece of equipment. Being handicapped I sometimes just want to sit there a few minutes after the record has ended before rising to turn it over and this fully automatic 'table allows just that. The Best Buy sales associate that helped me out is Anthony at the Santee, CA Best Buy. A great young man that takes pride in his job. It also powers off upon the return of the arm so that I I choose to activate the sleep timer on my receiver, everything shuts off at the end of the record! It is very easy to set up and plays perfectly on both old and brand new albums. Don't let anyone tell you that a fully automatic turntable is not "good enough". This one does the job and makes life a little easier in the process. On sale or not this turntable provides high end sound for a real world price.
