Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.After looking at a $300 budget for a player that I could upgrade I picked this player up on an impulse, my options where Pro-Ject or U-Turn originally but Best Buy had this on the shelf. For $199 I am extremely pleased with the sound running the onboard pre and out to Klipsch 2.1 channel set up. The options to upgrade are great and do put it on par with my other options cost wise but the auto play/stop on the Denon is a nice feature the others do not have. For entry into the hobby this is a great option.

The sound reproduction is superb, cartridge replacement is simple and it has anti-skating, an important item missing from many turntables out there these days.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.If you're after an automatic turntable (start and stop without the need to handle the tonearm manually), then this is quite a good deal. I like to put on a record and listen to it many times. So the automatic action of the tone arm is wonderful. Also the dust cover plastic "lid" is very nicely made and fitted. It's a very good buy and I see that Best Buy has an insanely low sale price right now.

Denon customer service is terrible. I would look into the Fluance turntables. They have a couple with a built-in preamp and are less expensive. Or, for just a bit more, you can really upgrade the cartridge, etc. Sure, it's not automatic, but it does stop on its own when the album is finished, so if you forget or fall asleep, you don't have to worry. Plus, Fluance customer service is outstanding.
