I wanted to like this speaker. I really did. I'm a big fan of Denon. I've had numerous receivers and amplifiers of theirs over the years and Denon always made a quality product. So when this speaker came available I just knew I was going to love it like my previous Denon gear. Unfortunately this ended up not being the case. The speaker is a good size, but not too big to fit on a shelf. I put it on a wire shelf in my kitchen. Set up wasn't too difficult. You just download the Heos app and add your music sources. I started out with Sirius XM and added my favorite stations. This is a fairly straightforward process. My wife had more trouble than I did since she just uses Sirius XM in her car and didn't know what her password was. But she was able to connect to the speaker by accessing Sirius on her phone and then streaming to the speaker via Bluetooth. After adding Sirius XM to the homepage of the Heos app it was time to do some listening. Unfortunately the sound modes available are pretty bare bones. You can only select Auto, which uses the Atmos soundfield processing or Pure, (I believe it is), that gives a more direct audio presentation without any processing. The bad news about the Pure mode is that plays at about half the volume as the Auto mode. So even though it might be a more accurate representation of the music you are listening to, it is so anemic that I always ended up switching back to Auto. The only parameters you can adjust is Bass and Treble. But even with me turning up the Treble all the way, the high frequencies are pretty lacking. The speaker does put out a very good amount of mid bass, especially for its size. But as far as sound quality, the old saying about Bose speakers, "Got no highs, got no lows, must be Bose" unfortunately applies to this speaker. It has good midrange and good mid-bass, but does not produce good low bass or high frequencies. This is probably fine for the Tik Tok, streaming crowd, but for an audiophile such as myself this speaker doesn't quite scratch the itch. But for what I will be using it for, just a source of background music when I'm working in the kitchen, it is adequate. However the price point is a bit out of line in my opinion for what the speaker accomplishes.

The Denon Home 600 is the first product I've used from Denon in a long, long time. After about a week with it, I've come away with an extremely favorable impression of Denon that has me tilted their way for future home audio purchases - both from an audio quality perspective and from their excellent HEOS app. ## First impressions ## Unboxing wise, the Denon Home 600 wasn't particularly noteworthy. The speaker comes well protected for shipping, but the unboxing experience didn't have the kind of extra thoughtful packaging that you sometimes get with high-end mass market brands. It wasn't bad, just nothing unique to the experience. Build quality wise, I love the Home 600. It feels super nice, from the rubberized ring around the entire bottom edge of the 'stand' to the feel of the grille and the weight of the speaker in general. Everything about it feels quality, including the buttons along the top. Which is a shame, since I never actually need to use them since the app works so well. ## Setup and using the Home 600 ## Setup was a breeze. I plugged the thing in, installed the HEOS app on my Samsung phone, and had the speaker up and running within a minute or so. Even the first firmware update went very quickly. There was no issue getting it connected to my home network - no quirks related to what frequencies to use, no connect and disconnect, none of that. Very smooth process. Setting up the HEOS app to use my music services was also very easy. The Home 600 doesn't support Google Cast, but it does support Airplay 2 as well has having several music services that work directly from the HEOS app. I have a few extra Chromecast Audio dongles, so I wasn't terribly concerned about the native Cast ability (the app allows you to easily switch inputs). However, I really wanted to listen to Atmos on the Home 600, so I set up Amazon Music Unlimited directly in the app. I already use AMU for Atmos music on my home audio receivers (from a different brand). What I really liked about HEOS is that it made it so easy to get this up and running on both my Galaxy S25 and on my iPad Mini. Just super easy to add the service and start streaming Atmos directly through the Home 600. And holy crap - this speaker really sounds great. I hate the cliche of "room filling audio" but that is really what it is. In the app you can easily adjust the bass response for how close the Home 600 is to any rear or adjacent walls, and it makes a big difference. Sitting on a deep shelf, about 24" away from any walls, I set it up in the no walls mode and it just sounded amazing and powerful. The "height" presented by the Atmos sound stage is incredible. Despite being one speaker that isn't even as wide as a soundbar, it produces very wide, non-directional audio that makes it easy to listen to even if it's sitting off to one side and you're not perfectly situated in front of it. It's just amazing. I ended up putting the Home 600 in my kitchen in a corner location, and I immediately noticed that the bass seemed a little too boomy in this spot. That's when i remembered the app having a setting for this, and sure enough, once adjusting the setting for corner placement it made the Home 600 sound EVEN BETTER. Now that the bass wasn't boosted as much, it sounded cleaner and tighter. ## Final thoughts ## This is a great product through and through. Denon have a fantastic app that has a classy, modern interface, integrates easily with several music services, and the speaker itself is exceptionally well made and sounds fantastic. Two big thumbs up for me. I'll be looking for a Denon AVR soon, I'm sure.

Hello Abhaxus. We appreciate you taking the time to provide your comprehensive review of the Home 600 wireless speaker. It's great to hear you are making the most of it and set-up went well using your Galaxy S25 and iPad. The Home speakers (including the Home 600) can be paired with any of our AVRs which have a model number ending in the letter 'H' (determining it being powered by a HEOS engine) and can work as additional zones throughtout your home. Thank you for your loyalty to Denon. denon

I love "smart speakers." I have them throughout my home. Also have some audiophile-level separates that are my "go to" for music. I actually happened to be watching a promo for the Denon Home 600 the very day I got a chance to order one! I was super excited to try this. I tore through the box on delivery day like a man in the desert digs for water. I couldn't wait! Set-up was a bit of a headache. For whatever reason, the Denon would disconnect from my network mid-handshake. Took a while, but I finally got the two connected. Great! Put on some music and.... sounded echoey, overprocessed, and vocals were dead. My wife, who has no interest in my tech hobby, even asked me if it was supposed to sound like that. I was flabbergasted. Dug through all the menus I could find on the app, looked on the Denon website for advice, and nothing. Finally, after playing around with menus, I found once a song is playing, go to that song's screen, there is a dropdown menu for Sound Mode: Auto/Pure. Select Pure. WORLD of difference! Brought the Denon out of it's shell and it sounded like a premium speaker. It's easily a top-tier "all in one" speaker. Bass is boomy, mids are decent, and the highs are slightly faded, but decent. It's really solid with most modern pop, 80's rock, and most country music. Very much reminds me of the sound of the "mini systems" that were so popular in the late 90's early 00's. Any music that is very precise, such as orchestral or jazz, the soundstage sounds very compacted. I'm sure it can be remedied by connecting two together, but at that point you are better off with separate speakers and a receiver. The Atmos music is an interesting gimmick, but I wasn't as wowed by that as I expected. Tried Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, and Tidal. All sounded great on the speaker. Fills a medium sized (25ft x 15ft room) really well. Still refuses to connect to Apple Homekit. Tried everything, but it just idles while "connecting" then my Homekit hub says it cannot add the device. Not a dealbreaker, since I usually have my phone in hand when listening to music, but it's nice to be able to say, "Hey Siri, volume to 50%" or "Hey Siri, next song"... Overall, if you have a vested interest in Denon as a brand (I have a Denon Receiver, and have had multiple products of theirs over the years) or really plan to connect to the other sold separately speakers in this Home system, this is a good option. It's biggest weakness is the lack of customization of the sound. If I'm listening to AC/DC, give me the ability to kick up the bass. Likewise, I don't need Enya booming. If you are a hardcore audiophile expecting the detailed sound of a separate amp and speakers, keep looking. This will not be the speaker you are looking for.

This speaker is fantastic. Most everything is controlled from an app on your phone. You can select input device, streaming options, etc. Connection types with my descriptions of how they work: - AUX input : connect to the headphone jack on a PC or laptop. This is the only way to connect via a wire to a computer. This can also be used to connect a turntable or other items with headphone jacks. - Bluetooth : Connect phone, PC or any Bluetooth device. The connection from PC or laptop has a slight delay, which makes this an imperfect connection for watching video. - USB connection : This only work to connect storage devices, PC connections do not work. - Wi-Fi : This is used for streaming services Like SiriusXM, Amazon, TuneIn, Tidal, Spotify, Pandora, IHeartRadiio, Deezer, Soundcloud, Qobuz. At least one new service was added in the last update. These streaming services are connected to by your phone, but then the actual streaming is direct to speaker. You have to stop from you phone or the controls on top of the speaker. Server : I do not have a DNLA setup, so I can not speak to this. Overall, this is a great speaker for streaming. I have the headphone jack connected to my PC. It is a very full and rich audio experience. I will stream over the internet while working. This also will work with Google Home, my preferred assistant, there is a built in mic that will interact with Home. I would like to see a couple improvements in future releases of the speaker. HDMI would be a nice to have, but being able to stream from a PC over the USB connection would be something that may be possible to added via a firmware update. I am not sure if the hardware would support a USB PC connection. Overall, this is a really nice addition to my setup. The build quality is top notch. The speaker is very heavy, surprisingly so. Having it in an open space will provide the best audio experience, but you can adjust if close to a wall or in an enclosed area. I definitely recommend.

Best Smart Speaker You Will Ever Buy

The Denon HOME 600 Wireless Smart Speaker completely exceeded my expectations. From the moment I powered it on, the sound quality was impressive. The bass is deep without sounding muddy, vocals come through crystal clear, and the overall balance makes every genre of music sound rich and detailed. Whether I’m streaming jazz, rock, podcasts, or movies, the audio feels immersive and room-filling in a way that smaller speakers simply cannot match. Denon clearly focused on premium sound performance, and it shows immediately. One thing buyers should absolutely know is that this speaker is a lot bigger in person than it appears in the product pictures. The photos make it look closer to a compact tabletop speaker, but the HOME 600 has a substantial size and weight to it. Personally, I see that as a positive because the larger cabinet helps deliver the powerful sound output and strong bass response. Just make sure you have enough shelf or counter space ready before it arrives. Another important point is that this is not a portable speaker. It’s designed more as a serious home audio component rather than something you casually carry from room to room or take outside. There’s no built-in battery, and honestly, the sound quality is so robust that it deserves a permanent spot in a living room, office, or entertainment setup anyway. The setup process was straightforward, wireless connectivity has been reliable, and the overall build quality feels premium and durable. The charcoal finish also looks sleek and modern without drawing too much attention. If you want a wireless smart speaker with true high-end sound, powerful volume, and excellent clarity, the Denon HOME 600 is absolutely worth considering.

If you are searching for a speaker that not only delivers outstanding audio performance but also makes a strong visual impact in any room, the Denon HOME 600 Wireless Smart Speaker is an excellent choice. Its substantial size and bold design command attention, making it more than just a functional device, it becomes a centerpiece in your space. The Denon HOME 600 features the dimensions of a medium-sized box with a robust build. Upon powering it on, it's clear that the design goes beyond aesthetics; it reflects thoughtful engineering. The speaker feels like a ready-to-use instrument rather than a simple gadget, offering a deep, rich, audiophile-grade sound. This "serious" speaker has the capability to fill large spaces with powerful audio, appealing to those who appreciate high-quality sound. Getting started is straightforward: only a power cord is needed to activate the device. For enhanced functionality, downloading the HEOS app is recommended. The app provides comprehensive control over the speaker, including managing the Bluetooth connection, updating firmware, and streaming a variety of audio sources. It is especially convenient when browsing through numerous music channels and podcasts, and can also function as a remote control for the device. If you prefer not to use the app, the speaker is equipped with two physical controls that allow you to adjust the volume directly. Connectivity options are excellent, supporting USB and auxiliary input for external devices. However, the absence of an ARC connector means the speaker cannot be used as a soundbar. With all these features, the Denon HOME 600 stands out as a high-quality sound system housed in a stylish, box-shaped design, making it a visually pleasing addition to any room.

Whether it's entertaining guests in your home or just spending a night alone enjoying some incredible music, the Denon Home 600 wireless speaker is your go-to for your audio needs. With a massive sound and an eye-catching design, this device is more than just a wireless speaker. It will be the focal point of your entertainment area. Setup is so easy with Denon's newest smart speaker. Position the speaker where you want it in your entertainment space. With the speaker on, simply use a mobile device connected to your home wireless network to download and launch the intuitive HEOS app and follow the onscreen instructions to add the speaker. It will ask where in the room the speaker is located, be it near a wall or in a more open space, in order to configure the perfect audio quality. Afterwards, it's just a matter of deciding where you want your music to come from, whether you want to pull from a network PC, a USB flash drive, or any of several music subscription services easily connected through the HEOS app. Denon makes accessing your music library so simple. With eight drivers and a built-in subwoofer, the sound pumping out of the Denon Home 600 is wide and all-encompassing. You can hear but also feel the Dolby Atmos surround you with its precise, targeted sound, whether it's music encapsulating your party or the cinematic sound coming from all directions during movie night, especially when paired with the Denon Home Sound Bar. I placed my speaker in the dining room adjacent to an entertaining/living room space on the first floor of my split-level home. The sound reaches multiple levels of the house with ease; this speaker really handles all of your audio requirements. The Denon Home 600 sounds amazing, and it's easy on the eyes, too. Instead of pulling out that same tiny Bluetooth speaker you use at the beach, impress your guests with the this remarkable machine. With astonishing audio and straightforward setup and accessibility, this speaker will be the highlight of your entertainment space.

The Denon Home 600 Smart Speaker is a noticeable step up from my current Home 350. It brings Dolby Atmos, AirPlay 2, and Siri support (though oddly, no Alexa at this time), along with the ability to stream through the HEOS app from services like Spotify, TIDAL, TuneIn, Pandora, and iHeartRadio. Setup I was genuinely surprised by the size of this thing—it’s big. At 21.8” (W) x 13.2” (D) x 12.48” (H) and 26.5 lbs, it’s not exactly subtle. Setup, however, was easy. Since I already use the HEOS app for my other Denon gear, I just added the new device and followed the prompts. The front white LED is brighter than I’d like, but thankfully the app lets you dim it—or turn it off entirely. My music sources (Pandora, Amazon, iHeart, and my NAS library) were already linked, so everything synced right up. Design-wise, the Home 600 is understated. Clean, simple, maybe even elegant… but part of me wishes Denon had taken a few more risks to make it visually interesting. Sound Quality Now for the fun part. Once everything was connected, I queued up some favorites—Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman, classical albums, Imagine Dragons, and The Greatest Showman soundtrack. The sound quality is outstanding. The subwoofers dig deep and deliver the kind of bass you expect from a much larger system. This “somewhat small” (relatively speaking) speaker easily filled my 29’ x 17’ room with rich, full sound. No matter what I played, it handled it beautifully, and even at higher volumes it stayed clean and impressive. Conclusion For the sound quality alone, the Home 600 feels worth the price. It performs like a larger, more complex speaker setup. The biggest drawback is the loss of Alexa support—Siri is your only option, and only if you already have a HomePod on your network. The HEOS app remains easy to use overall, though one long-standing annoyance persists: albums stored on my NAS with many tracks still show up alphabetically instead of in their proper order.

Limited ATMOS support and vendor lock-in

The Denon Home 600 is part of the Denon HEOS line of connected home audio equipment. While it has the solid, full sound that you would expect from Denon, it has some shortcomings that are difficult to impossible to overlook unless you are fully committed to the HEOS ecosystem – and one or two that are impossible to overlook even then. Starting with setup, you must download the HEOS app and go through the setup process. This will connect it via WiFi to other HEOS components from Denon and Marantz, allowing for multi-room playback. Connectivity is through Bluetooth, mini-jack, or USB-C. Note that there is no HDMI eARC connector. The HEOS app allows you to set the bass responsiveness of the Home 600, but only by specifying if you are placing it away from a wall (full bass), next to a wall (medium), or in a corner (least bass). Even at its lowest setting, the Home 600 if very bass-heavy, which means you’ll have to reset the equalizer on your source device, as the HEOS app has no actual graphic or parametric equalizer. Once set up, the speaker sounds very clear and full, with decent stereo separation. While sold as an ATMOS speaker, ATMOS only works under very specific conditions. ATMOS playback comes through the HEOS compatible receiver or, if you are streaming through the HEOS app, ATMOS music from Amazon Prime Music or Tidal. ATMOS music on Apple Music will play only as standard stereo. This is where the missing HDMI eARC connector comes in. This is an industry standard that would allow the Home 600 to play ATMOS music from and ATMOS source. Masimo, the parent company of Denon and Marantz, has opted for a closed environment rather than embracing an industry standard connection. This is a smart speaker that supports Siri, Alexa, and Google. I was able to test it with Siri, and this part worked well. You can also turn off the smart speaker feature completely or limit it to only the services you want to connect to. Overall, it’s a solid sounding speaker, but the lack of meaningful tone controls take it down a notch, and I am not willing to change out my entire audio system for HEOS (and be locked into a single vendor from that point forward), nor am I willing to switch from Apple Music to Amazon or Tidal just to get ATMOS sound. This is the lesson of vendor lock-in and poorly executed apps. It's how you turn an otherwise solid product into one that's hard to recommend.

I Expected Much Better From Denon

I have never owned a Denon product before but I have always been conscious of their brand quality and popularity. So I was excited to experience their sound with their new Home 600 Wireless Smart Speaker System. My excitement turned to disappointment pretty quickly, though. Initially, my greatest problem was with crazy equalization that overemphasized the bass with thready treble. I was finally able to resolve that problem with the HEOS app (a truly terrible app) where I found that the sound for this speaker was defaulting to a surround simulation setting that was butchering the sound for every type of music I fed to it. The sound controls allow for very simple adjustments to your “acoustic environment” by controlling bass, treble, width, and height – but all settings inserted audio characteristics that were unbearable. Sound quality between Bluetooth and aux inputs were similar to one another but I found that my Bluetooth connection was always very sketchy. My good Bluetooth headphones can connect to my phone with no degradation of quality over the expanse of my gym, but this speaker was constantly getting patchy reception from 6’ away. And I found this to be the case using three different Bluetooth sources. Finally, I found the sound to be very good at best – never excellent. I expected much better sound from Denon. But the Bluetooth problems I experienced are shockingly bad – I absolutely do not recommend!
