Steve Carrel is not my favorite comedian, but the minions in this movie really help him out. He comes out as the most lovable villain as he inevitably surrenders his heart to those adorable little orphans. And those minions are sooo funny. Overall, this movie is not all about Steve Carrel, thank Goodness, as most other of his movies are. But the whole movie is pretty darn funny. My teenagers and I loved it, and we've watched it over and over again, and we recommend it to friends whom we think need a good dose of laughter in their life. That's it.

i was a little hesitant because the trailers were so darn funny and thought that was all there was going to be for laughs but i was surprised and moved by this film. my daughter loved the characters and she has her copy on dvd so she can watch it on repeat and i have the bluray so it can be kept aside and the digital copy is nice because when we are out and about she can watch it to keep her occupied. . worth every penny

A superb sendup of superspy villains. I didn't know what to expect when this started playing, but about 10 minutes into it I knew I was hooked and it was a wonderful ride for the next hour and a half. The minions are cute, but the little girls are something special to melt even a wannabe Blofeld's evil little heart. I expect Disney to be good, I expect Pixar to be off the scale great, but I really wasn't expecting this to be as much fun as it was. Kung Fu Panda caught me by surprise in much the same way and I'll take either over most of the Shrek universe.

This movie is so wonderful--easily one of my favorites! It is very well written and well scripted. I love the way that Mr. Gru's character is introduced. He is an unintentionally funny, quirky man. There is a lot of hilariously awkward humor in this film since Mr. Gru is a very awkward character. Some surprising elements make this film memorable too from Mr. Gru's decision to adopt all 3 girls, Mr. Gru's surprising compassion towards his minions, and the 3 girls' distinctly different and entertaining personalities. Definitely worth owning!

Seriously this is currently one of our favorite movies...entire family loves it. Initially my wife didn't get it but now she catches all the adult humor mixed in to the story. Bank of Evil formerly Lehman Brothers? Laugh out loud funny. Agnes: Why are you wearing pajamas? Vector: [scoffs] These aren't pajamas! This is a warm-up suit. Edith: What are you warming up for? Vector: Stuff. Margo: What sort of stuff? Vector: Super cool stuff you wouldn't understand. Agnes: Like sleeping? Vector: They are not pajamas! Loved it.

This is by far the best 3D movie that I have saw so far and I have several! The 3D effects were outstanding! If you want to blow people away with your 3D equipment this is a must have! I just wish they would have some good adult movies out in 3D like this! But it still is a good movie that adults will enjoy as well as the kids!

the minions and Gru's fued with Vector are hillarious! Gru's modern lingo he uses in his accent and his response to simple kid friendly phrases are clever and heartwarming. I enjoyed it just as much or more than my kids

Very funny, adorable little minions, and some belly laugh moments; I thoroughly had a fun time watching this movie. The discs include some good extras including 3 short minion cartoons. It is a great movie for family viewing along with some references that will go over the kids' heads, but are very funny for the adults watching.

I bought this movie mostly to satisfy my recent 3D Blu-Ray addiction, since there's not that many out there to begin with and this one came highly recommended. I'd never seen it prior to my first viewing of the 3D version. The movie itself is certainly entertaining. The characters are memorable (to this day I still quote "It's so fluffy I'm gonna die!"), especially the three girls and the minions. The 3D angle is a minor enhancement, although the film would probably be equally as enjoyable in 2D (unlike the Legend of the Guardians, whose 3D version is far superior to its 2D counterpart). My only criticism is that while the movie was good, I think the various reviews I'd read online and heard from friends hyped it up a little higher than it needed to be.

I also bought this $9.99. It was a great deal because it came with a fandango $7.50 for the 2nd movie. I was going to watch it with the kids anyways but wanted to buy this for the kids. Plus, they loved the first movie, but its been a while since we saw it. It was a great family night for us with the kids laughing throughout the movie. I cant want to see the next one with them

The movie story is good but not the best. Some sense I was kinda bored but then other sense came out so great. I'm a big Disney, Dreamworks, Pixar all around fan. So, no I'm not dissing the movie b/c is family or something. The colors and pictures were awesome, bright and pretty. 3D? Was pretty decent. If you seen Toy Story 3 in 3D then that is about how this movies is in. I give the 3D a 4 out of 5. I do recommend making the purchase and adding it to your 3D collection.

This was funny, heartwarming and fun. The message I got was children bring so much to our lives and can melt even the coldest, despicable heart. What we give them and what we get in return can't be compared.

I received "Despicable Me" for Christmas and had not seen it yet. Honestly, at first I thought it was dumb but it turned into a very good movie. I fell in love with the characters and found the minions to be cute. The sarcasm in the movie is lost on children but I found it humorous. I am not big on DVD extras so I didn't watch them which is why I didn't rate it.

I am a college student who has seen this movie four times. When I first saw the movie I thought that it was good, but not great. Then I watched it a second, third, and a fourth time. Each time that I watched the movie it got better and better. You seem to notice little subtle details after the first time watching the movie that are very funny!

Gru's story is the focus of the movie. We go on a journey with Gru where he adopts 3 kids and together with his mom and the minions makes a whole family. Gru's transition from villain to father is endearing. With the help of the loyal and mischievous minions, Gru accomplishes his goals in more ways than one.

I was a little skeptical at first, after things that other people had said about this movie. But we rented it first and my 4 kids (ages 4-8) absolutely LOVE this movie. They want to watch it every day! My husband and I enjoyed it very much as well. I would recommend it to anybody who asks, and even those who don't!

What can I say? I just love it. It is my favorite so far. I think it is more intended for adults rather than for kids. Well because I think for kids it is just a cartoon with an ugly man, what my kid said (well she is three). But for adults it more like a moral of revealing your true you.

I haven't watched this one personally yet, but on a recent road trip I had a 6, 9 and 11 year old boys glued to it, chuckling away and even putting down their iPod and DSi's to watch it more than once and even back to back. You can't say that about every movie.
