Could have been better, but nothing else beats it

I'm too old to be playing these games, but I do play Diablo 3 on occasion. I can't seem to get into similar PC adventure games, but this one I did. The light splashing graphics and sound are addictive, though it can be somewhat annoying to pick up absurd item drops -- e.g., barbarian belt with no strength characteristics on it. The developers did a fine job, but I think they left a bit too much of the game to 100% random-generated items. They should have skewed the loot drops a bit so they were a bit more appealing for the character you chose to play in game.

Not a bad game, but not the continue of the legend

If ignore those harsh criticisms, it is a good game. Of course it above average level, but, unfortunately, its former is Diablo 2, a legend on the history of PC game. May be this comparison is unfair, but I do not think Diablo 3 worth $60, $30 is a reasonable price.

    Actual Information about the game

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I've noticed people pretending to give out information but here's ACTUAL information. Beta is being launched at the end of September 2011. (Closed Beta) Each class has a different mana pool. I.E. Barbarians run on fury, Demon Hunters run on discipline and hatred. Each their own color and recovered in multiple ways. The landscape changes everytime you log in and out. Making it seem different but, oddly familiar. The weapons can be imbued with runestones but the runestones may actually give certain abilities. I.E. Vamp D3 does not let you spec your attributes. I took one star from that simply because it's a RPG that doesn't let you RP. Um Blizzard? really? The "Followers" are pretty cool. You can actually dress them up and change how they look.. unlike your own character. (Fail) Your "Stash" of gold can actually be shared among all your characters. Looks like it'll be a awesome follow up for D3. But there are things that are off putting about it. Generally, when I RP, I want to be able to customize the face and attributes myself. But with this new wave of game makers... It seems it must all be about hack and slash.

Not a bad update to the series

I never played any of the Diablo series until my friend showed me their previous version. When comparing them to this latest version, it blew my mind. However, I recommend buying the game from a brick and mortar versus trying to buy it from Blizzard. Ugh that was a disaster of customer relations.

Shaky launch doesn't hinder a great game

By the time you're reading this, the vast majority of the server issues will have been settled. What we're left with is a great game that takes the core elements that many of us loved about Diablo/Diablo II and brings them into 2012. If you are looking for a game with a great story, excellent cinematics and engaging combat, then Diablo is definitely a good fit. Many people will boil down the gameplay to "click, click, click," but Blizzard has managed to move the game outside of that- while also still staying true to what made the game great in the first place. Yes- you'll be clicking your mouse a lot, but you'll also be mixing other skills in to your rotation to keep things interesting. Some old school Diablo players may lament how the game feels so "easy," but this is the gamer equivalent of telling the neighborhood kids to "get off my lawn!!" Some of the parts that we used to love about Diablo II simply wouldn't translate all that well to today. Endless level grinding, "inventory Tetris," potion-stacking and the like may seem fun through the lens of nostalgia, but those mechanics would get old very fast. Blizzard has taken out the stuff that used to get in the way and boiled the game down to its essence. What we're left with is a great experience that delivers the never-ending pursuit of loot, a dangerous environment (people who claim the game is "too easy" don't really remember what DII was like) and an engaging story.

I remember playing Diablo II and how addicting that was. Diablo III is just as addicting. The graphics are great, the sound is great and the gameplay is just as addicting as before. The only real problem i had was disconnection issues since you have to be online at all times even when playing the single player campaign. I was using my wireless connection and once i ran a ethernet cable and used the wired connection i have had no disconnection issues.

The skills system is simplified. While some may dislike it at first like I did, after using it I really really like it; I don't have to spend another 30 hours to create an ice wizard if I already have a lightning wizard. I need more hours in the day to play this. DO NOT GET THIS BEFORE A TEST! I got this after my USMLE Step 1.

This game will be epic. A must have for pc-gamers! I played the first 2 diablos and it was really good. it took them more than 10 years to put this together. so it must be that good. I'm a huge Blizzard fan considering my first ever pc game was starcraft 1..and I played all their pc games and they are all well-polished and balance.

    OK game

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The game is fun for casual players and maybe those who have not played the previous Diablo games. Lots of fun fighting random mobs and killing demons. The new skill system is pretty nice letting u choose up to 6 skills to use instead of 2, it gives u more variety of skills to use and create more different ways to play. Giving each class a different source of power instead of them all using Mana pools was a great idea and makes more sense. It makes the game a bit more unique adding different power sources like fury for a barbarian would make more sense for a bashing type of class to build of rage instead of using mana? The AH is ok, needs some improvement as some people sell things for ridiculous prices. The REAL CURRENCY AH is not out yet, but I expect it to be a bit more of P2W (pay to win). At least it will secure you from not getting BAN from buying items/gold from third party websites, unlike D2, where people would often buy endgame items from spamming sites. Overall the game gets repetitive and can get boring. Fun for casual players, people who only play games once a while for fun, have a life and go out with friends, etc Hardcore games who stay at home and play games all day. NOPE don't but this game

Horrible, do not waste the money. No offline mode makes the game terrible with the terrible servers blizzard has. Blizzard put making money over the customer which is complete fail. I would not recommend this game to anyone, what a disappointment.

Pushes diablo vets to the waste side

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Too many core elements removed that were present in previous series and too many new elements introduced that include the influence of WoW. Things like an easily achievable level cap of 60, skill swapping at any time. Now every schmuck out there will be a max level character swapping skills at will. Unlike previously where most people didn't have a max level character and those that did actually had to work a long time for it, thus bragging rights. Also, decisions use to matter with skill points because you were bound to them (not any more). Who cares what you do now, no need thinking about it, just change your skills at will. Lack of world pvp, bad public game finding system and public chat, real money auction house, WoW influenced graphics, removal of religious symbols, and to top it off a secret level of unicorns and rainbows. I really feel the last one rubbed salt in the wound of long time diablo fans. In my mind the only thing activision (blizzard) has had in mind while developing this game is how to squeeze as much money as possible out of it. As a result, the game has suffered tremendously. I have been a long time diablo fan, but this game kind of ruins it for me. It is sad to think my run with diablo (and blizzard for that matter) is probably over.

Great game, pros and cons over D2

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Mana generation and spending is interesting, and fun. Online servers are dependable but that you need them is frustrating even though it is to prevent hackers direct access to their own 'playground(server)' of testing. Auction house is silly because to make valuable weapons well valuable they must keep drops very low. Team play is awesome. Rough startup, but now everything is rock solid stable which is good. I would completely recommend this game to a friend. Character creation is more 'forgiving' than D2, encouraging experimentation but doesn't rely on spell choice for shaping a character. Sadly, everything concrete comes down to items, hence driving the auction house. That aside, it is an awesome game, and I have gotten along fine having a blast while still completely ignoring the real money auction house (used the gold one twice). Kids 13+ Violence is gory, and well detailed, but I wouldn't say it's shocking, it's just not realistic.

http://eu.blizzard.com/diablo3/ here is the diablo 3 website Diablo 1 and 2 are good rpg games which many people play and realy enjoy it but Diablo 3 will be totaly different than diablo 1 and 2 . To sum up diablo 3 have a good story as u can see the website above and the story is that the game takes place on Sanctuary, a world of dark fantasy. Unbeknownst to most of its inhabitants, Sanctuary was saved some twenty years ago from the demonic forces of the underworld by a few brave and powerful heroes. Most of those warriors who directly faced Hell’s armies -- and were fortunate enough to survive -- went mad from their experiences. And most of the others have buried their haunted memories and pushed the horrors from their thoughts. In Diablo III, players will return to Sanctuary to confront evil in its many forms once again. i wish they will put the release date of diablo 3 =) thumbs up for first writing review

On line requirements and latency problems

I have been a fan of Blizzard's products since the original Warcraft, and I have played both previous Diablo games beginning to end (many times). I could not believe how dissapointing this product is. I am not a WOW player, but I have to believe they were trying way too hard to mimic its success. I usually play the game solo exclusively and was perturbed by the online requirements. At game release you could not even get on the servers. I even gave them months to remedy the problem, to no net improvement. DO NOT waste the $60 on this game, it is maddening to try to play and make reasonable progress between disconnects.

This game was pretty much what I was expecting; a lot of violence, gore, and a lot of fun. The story is pretty weak, and predictable, but I doubt that anyone that is familiar with the series is looking for a strong story. This game is fast paced, and is designed to move you quickly from one area to the next, killing countless baddies as you go. It fun, entertaining, and it is worth the play through. I would recommend this game to anyone that likes action rpgs.
