It was like a small plastic bump that was suppose to hold the two hoses together and the second I moved it they came apart. I guess if you tape them together you could use the hose but I wasn't interested in having to tape my new vacuum.

As this was the most important factor for me because all of our carpets are short, I returned it immediately. Avoid Dirt Devil and spend the money to get a better vacuum.

Posted .Hi Whit, thank you for reviewing the Dirt Devil Endura Max Upright Vacuum. Here are some helpful tips to improve the suction: check to see if the filter or nozzle is clogged. Turn off the unit and disconnect the nozzle to remove the debris. Also check the hose for any built up debris, and use the handle of a broom to remove. We also recommend checking the filter by removing it from your vacuum and tapping out any built up dirt/debris that could be resting on it. Rinse the filter with water until the water runs clear and allow a dry time of 24-36 hours. We hope this improves your suction!
