the camera work and acting was good to very good but there were a lot of explanation holes and some scenes went by too fast and others too slow. I read the book and saw the film in the theater and oddly the video seemed like a different cut than in the theater. The plot, thoughts and emotions from the book were glossed over, left out , or played too broadly. It seemed that playing to the teen movie audience, even though it was a young adult book, made the characters and the whole story more trite and shallow. The angst of maturing into a deeply flawed society was there but lacked sophistication and verisimilitude.

Was watching online and froze up. Went to best buy and saw it was on sale because the 2nd movie was out in theaters and was happy that I could go watch it before I saw the second one.

I was expecting to be entertained but wasn't expecting much. In some ways it is similar to Hunger Games but my opinion slightly better. The end left me with anticipation for the sequel.

This movie flows pretty well, there are some variations from the book that I think had they kept like the book would have made the movie even better, but that happens all the time in movie adaptations of books

After taking my niece to all the Divergent series movies....bought all the books and starting to add the movies. I caught the first in series Divergent at a great price!

It was a decent movie for the genre. Nothing over the top, but allows for expansion. Decent action, and although there is romance, it didn't feel like it was taking away from the story.

I think this movie has a similar concept like The Hungers Game, society divided in different casts who united at the end to take down the elite group who is governing the place.

Really loved this movie. One I would watch over and over and I'm not normally the type to do that, that's my husband! Great plot with plenty of action, love the main characters.

The movie has a great story and as for quality you can't beat it back up with a Sam sung blu-ray player and the Sony 4K HDR Tv The picture is unbelievable colors come out at you. Can't believe it.

This DVD movie follows the story as closely as can be expected given the shortcomings of converting from print media where characters can be fleshed out more than usual in film media.

Never thought I would like the movie but was pressured into buying it and since this was on sale I got the steel book edition and honestly the movie was pretty great so pretty glad I got the limited steel book copg

I do not get in to this new popular book turned into a movie because a bunch of teenagers tweet and fb and instant oatmeal graham cracker about it but it is an original story that is entertaining for an hour or so.

If only Hunger Games' first installment was as good as this film. I must admit that Hollywood's (and many novelist's) vision of the future of the world can be pretty bleak, but it makes for interesting movies. (I think it would be a better movie as an R than a PG-13, but money talks over art.) They did a good job on the story line so you don't have to have read the book to get what is going on here. Although the film is a little slow in the beginning it makes a steady and unapologetic ramp up to a suspenseful and exciting finish. Can't wait for the next one which comes out in 3 months (March 2015).

I expected a predictable movie and not so great acting as I can only picture Shailene Woodley on ABC Family, but she was a great surprise. The move flowed well and I look forward to the next 3 movies of the series.

I love this movie! I saw it at a drive in theater when it first came out and watching again on BluRay was so much better! The story is awesome and the sets were authentic. Great movie.

Saw this movie in theaters. Great to have it as part of our collection. The steel case is great. Enjoyed watching the deleted scenes reminding me of parts of the book not in the movie.

This is a film with some very unique ideas that I have enjoyed watching repeatedly. The second and third movies in this series are not nearly as good in my opinion, but this one is worth owning.

This was very entertaining and fun. Can't wait for the next movies in the set to come out. Little slow in some parts, but my kids really enjoyed it...just not as much as Hunger Games.

This movie was really good and held my attention. It has some older and younger actors and actress in the movie. If you haven't seen it you need to see this one.

I really enjoyed this movie & the steelbook is a cool touch. The story stayed true to the book. As always, some characters are overlooked, but the acting lived up to my expectations.
