Do not buy this camera it has nothing but problems it gets very hot to the touch and overheats after 10 minutes in 4K mode what a disaster

Let me start straight from the get go I was hoping this camera to be a strong competitor against another action camera line, especially due to the asking price for this combo dual screen package. Let me start with the good things. The quality of the video both day and night is impressive. I tested this while flying my aircraft during the night to get city skyline video along with daytime to see how the brightness and contrast of the sun to my interior would look. The auto exposure was smooth and rapid and performed as I expected. The rocksteady feature performed quite well during turbulent flight however when using it on a day today from a vlogging perspective, I noticed it very clearly trying to compensate for bumps that didn’t exist while panning. It seem to lag behind just slightly as though it was trying to detect and over smooth footage. Regarding battery life with the add on display, while shooting 1080P I was able to get about 2 and a half ours out of the battery with both the MOD connected and the main unit . Now let me list some of the serious concerns of the design of this camera. First off you have to buy a combo unit the base Camera itself has no ports available to charge the camera or put in an external SD card. The only way to do this is to buy one of the mods. One of the biggest drawbacks and concerns is the lack of protection of the camera lens and overall body of the camera. I couldn’t help but worry while I was using the camera that I would drop it and smash the lens. Another drawback is the fact that I must have another mod connected to have the ability to charge the main unit and the mod this also applies to additional storage. Due to the fact that the main camera is waterproof because it has no ports, and the mod add-ons that are magnetic are not waterproof had me scratching my head a bit as to the design intent. Action camera design should always be durable tough and able to withstand the hardest conditions. Unfortunately I don’t believe that this meets the mark of what the purpose of an action camera truly is to be.

The DJI action cam has a good premise. what's included is the action cam, the 2nd screen, a lanyard, a USB-C cable (No brock btw), and accessories that allow you to hold the camera in different ways. First, in order to use the cam, you need to download the smartphone app. Once downloaded, you have to register an account, The instructions on the action cam were in Chinese so that initially freaked me out. Once the firmware on the cam was updated, it switched to English. It took three tries for the app and the cam to connect, so that was a bit frustrating. The app itself is pretty bloated. It is broken down into a marketing section for more devices, a user update portal, and the editor and album. The camera itself is pretty small and compact. You can change the framerate, resolution, zoom, voice controls, full screen or non full screen, and some other minor options. The main theme for the camera is magnets. The camera and touch screen attach vertically via magnets, and the lanyard attaches to the camera via magnets. You can insert a micro SD card for great capacity. During my initial test, I learned of a pretty big flaw. The camera itself gets very hot. I was holding the camera in my hand while recording, and it turned into a mini heater. With it getting so hot, you have to use the lanyard, or get a gimbal to record. The camera and app have promise, but I think the app should be cleaned up a bit, include a basic gimbal, and figure out a way to keep the camera from reaching hot temperatures. All in all, an okay camera. It also bugs me that there's no power brick. I guess I'm using my laptop to power everything from now on.

Camera came non functional. This is the first DJI device I’ve owned that came “out of the box” broke. Disappointed is about all I’ve got on this one. Loved the Pocket 2

This is another great product by DJI. So many great things about this camera. First off, I love the dual screen capability. It allows you to record what’s in front of you or record with you in front of it without losing image quality like you would when switching between a front and back facing camera on a phone. Couple that with the fact that the image quality on phones, at least the ones I have used, don’t compare. And the beauty is it is small where people don’t even notice it. I find I bring this everywhere now and haven’t used my phone as a camera because it just can’t compete. Thankfully you can transfer videos to your phone through the app if you want to show off your work and everyone I have showed said the image quality is amazing. Battery life on it is no problem even at high res 4K although it does get warm so you can tell at the highest resolution there is significant battery usage. I’m already a fan of its cinematic mode which is my go to now. Just the look of the videos alone in cinematic is great. Images are detailed and color is very accurate. DJI hit it out of the park with this camera.

Nice camera. The magnetic mounting is clutch. Tends to overheat and battery doesn’t last long enough. Recommend getting the battery pack instead of the monitor.

DJI Action 2 Camera The Good: Waterproof down to 32 ft (camera body only, not the fwd screen attachment) Controls. Either on camera or on the app, they all work great and are easy to manipulate. Setup was easy enough although, I had some issues with the camera dropping connection with the app on my phone during setup, I haven’t noticed any issues since the initial setup. Picture/video quality, its very good and the app gives you plenty of control over white balance, exposure etc… which is a great feature. I didn’t even bother to shoot video in anything other than 4K after testing all modes out, its very good quality. Lightweight and slim. The DJI action 2 has a minimal footprint and is very light. Magnetic connection, this is a great feature and it definitely helps out in the dark or if you worry about a secure connection to an accessory. The Average: Battery Life is average and although I wasn’t blown away with it, I wasn’t upset by how long it lasted. You’ll run out of the internal storage faster than the battery… I started at 100% battery and recorded video in 4K/120, the camera overheated at the 2:52 mark and stopped recording, battery life was at 73%… The Bad: It will get hot. I consistently experience the camera overheating and going into safe mode (unable to record) when shooting Video in 4K/120… to the tune of 2 minutes 52 seconds worth of video… then you’re waiting for it to cool off. This happened within a 65 degree room. Pretty bad in my opinion. It took about 10 minutes to cool down at room temperature and allow recording again. Internal storage, while its nice to have about 22gb of internal storage you will blow through it with video, especially in 4K and quite honestly, we aren’t thinking about NOT shooting in 4K if its available. The bottom attachment does allow for use of an external micro sd card, but you can’t go into water with it… Price. At the price DJI is asking for the Action 2, you really shouldn’t have the overheating and internal storage issues. Its a nice action camera but it has to many flaws that limit your ability to create.

I returned it the same day I received it. It gets so hot you can fry an egg on top of it.

This is the most beautiful tech camera I have found. I love it so much but I do have to say that the software is lacking. It really only shoots at 4k 60FPS. When I tried to record in 4k 120FPS the video files were all converted to slow motion for some reason, This is perfect if you have a phone that cannot shoot 4k at 30fpr or 60fpr.

First thing only one charging port on both devices. Pulling the videos out to the phone in most cases it's not working. Also camera gets hot really quick. Sorry but I cannot say anything good about it except size and many options on the resolution and timeframes rates.

Video quality is amazing, I personally love the voice command. the only issue i found was the magnet is on the bottom on the camera and that make the camera be upside down when worn on the neck with the neck band, it is only a issue in the fact that the camera is upside down but you can still record as if it was upside up. The camera has a clean sleek look easy to work but does take a little to get used to it.

I've used both this and a GoPro and I don't think I will be able to go back to the latter. The DJI Action 2 offers so many applications with the different adapters that can be connected to it. The 4k videos are gorgeous too and allows you to capture some really stunning shots. This camera is worth every penny and I would recommend it to anyone looking to create top of the line videos.

The camera begins to heat up around 7 minutes of recording in 4k60, and gets extremely hot around 16 minutes of recording in 4k60. The camera lens side of the action 2 will burn your skin after a few seconds of holding the camera. I have a 6 month old and can't use it around him in the fear of him getting burnt by it. This camera is only good for about 20 minutes tops, before needing a recharge. Save your hard earned cash, because DJi doesn't even want it back lol. The return process is brutal for this poorly designed camera. 4k120 is good for about 4 minutes, seems like DJi has increase the temperature threshold through the latest update. Buyer beware

This small beauty is really cool camera but I don't need to impress anyone at trail or vacations I need camera that will be dependable, you can't truithis one! You record and as soon as overheat stops so you never know when that going to happen!! Everything is promising minuse battery life but for what I am recording its ok! Other thing that strikes me! Someone Must to test this camera before releasing it, and despite heating problem DJI decided to released anyway. What they thinking about Customers?
