To fly this drone, you need to authorize it using a compatible device. Which I do not own. And was not told. So now I have to go but a new phone. Please note - the phone is not USED to fly the drone at all, just to authorize it or check for flight restriction areas before take off. Idiotic.

Connected to controller and flew off on its own. Without touching controls beyond the takeoff button and crashed. Needs improvement on connectivity for sure. Not sure if it was a software issue or interference but I returned the product after the first issue.

Yet another terrible experience with Best Buy, and thankfully this will be the last one. TL;DR: Cannot customize controls with DJI, and Best Buy charges restocking fee even though DJI does not. Buy direct from DJI. I thought I did enough research going into this purchase, but it seems as though I made some rather basic assumptions that turned out to be false. If you are trained to fly in a different way than the standard for US or standard for EU, then you are essentially out of luck. What is absolutely a simple inclusion, for whatever reason has been left out by DJI. No inversion, no mode 4; you use one of the three pre-made modes of controller configuration or not at all. The icing on the cake is a $150 restocking fee imposed by Best Buy, when if bought direct from DJI I would not have incurred. Best Buy is great if you need something immediately and Amazon same-day is not available. But, God forbid something goes wrong or you need to rely on professional services to install. You are going to run into a nightmare. Also, waited in line for 25 minutes, watching countless employees strolling by, while there were just 2 customer service desk employees tending to about 20 people in line. If I was running that store I would be livid, and also behind the counter until that line was clear. There are better places to spend your money.

Bought this item here on July 11th 2022, Received the Drone. Battery didn't work. Rapidly Blinked red. Wasn't able to turn the motors on because of this low battery error. But everything else worked. Returned the Drone and got a new one. Same exact issue. Not Best Buys fault, but I would stay far away from this Drone. Very problematic dji battery.

WARNING*** You are required to update the firmware on the controller, googles, and drone itself. I recommend that all three items be fully charged prior to updates. You will need to download the DJI Fly mobile app or the DJI assistant two via laptop. The process takes a long time, almost to the point that it feels it's not updating. Make sure all three items are turned on and fully charge. I had an issue where I had to use an iPad, iPhone, and laptop to update. After the update, everything was working fine. I haven't flown a drone in more than two years since the Mavic 2. I didn't own it; it was my friends. Due to the price tag, I did not want to fly the drone immediately. DJI has a drone simulator you can download on your phone to practice before the real thing. I logged in several hours of sports and manual drone flying before the first flight. The drone comes in three different flight modes: Normal, Sports, and Manual mode. The normal mode provides navigation flying. It pretty much flies itself; you adjust the drone to move vertically and horizontally; under normal mode, the sensors are active beeping when you are near an object. It is recommended for beginners. Under Sports mode, the fastest it can go is 30 mph and offer a little more versatility. It not that hard to control, but the sensors are disabled, unlike in normal mode. Sports mode is recommended for intermediate users. Finally, there is Manual mode: no sensors, all manual drive. I've only driven the drone once in manual mode, mostly in simulator mode. I don't think I am comfortable enough to fly in manual mode as the top speed is 60 mph. I am still practicing manual mode in simulation. I just want to say the video quality on the googles is excellent. I believe the specs are 4k at 60 fps and 120 fps at 1080p. You'll need an SD card to video record; then, you can transfer images and video via DJI fly app to your phone. FPV or First Person View feels like a bird flying in the sky. I cannot get enough of the views. The view inside the googles provides the battery life of the drone and googles, and if there are piloted aircraft nearby, it also notifies you of drone flying restrictions. The DHI FPV drone doesn't feel like a complete racing drone but provides a hybrid between a "hotrod" and a "van," as some of my friends put it; either way, you'll get a lot of benefits from this drone. I forgot to mention: the battery life is pretty good, fully charge it gives me more than 20 minutes of the whole flying, which is better than average. Overall, this drone is amazing and very simple to use. I haven't flown a drone in 2 years and having a simulator option before flying put to rest any fears I've had of crashing it. I don't think I would consider it a racing drone, but it definitely good enough for any beginner and intermediate user. The drone has a lot of safety options which makes using this drone a breeze, and the H button on the controller pretty much makes it land by itself. My little niece is 11 and has never flown a drone before; she now knows how to use it in normal mode. I recommend it to anyone who is known to drones as this drone makes it easy.

READ THIS im gonna give it to you straight here because I read some reviews and they didn't really feel fair. this drone is not for everybody. if you are a seasoned FPV pilot you might like a normal fpv drone more then this. if you only want to fly slow and cinematic there are better options for that. This drone is for someone who wants to get into the FPV scene without having to learn how to build/fix one, how to tune a real fpv drone, and even how to charge the batteries. (yes that is something you would normally have to learn how to operate on a hand-made drone) THE GOOD: This drone has a learning curve but it also gives you the ability to learn with the three different operating modes. you can slowly transition between normal, sport, and then manual mode in order to get a feel for how it works. this is not possible on other fpv drones. also the pause button is a life saver for someone learning to fly fpv and it simply doesn't exist on other fpv drones. I also see a lot of complaints on battery life but they aren't really accurate. a lot of people are getting 10 minutes in full manual mode. that is a lot of battery compared to any other fpv drone, normally you would get 3-5 minutes. if you want 20-30 minutes of flight time, you are not going to get that out of an fpv drone. if you lose connection it doesn't just fall out of the sky, it will return to home on its own. lastly, it always shows you the home point in the hud and even tells you when your battery is low and starts returning to home on its own. THE BAD: the drone has flaws of course, the geofencing can be annoying when you want to fly somewhere, if you crash it you are probably gonna break it because it doesn't have the rigid frame of other fpv drones, and trust me, you are probably gonna crash it (YOU SHOULD REALLY GET INSURANCE). it also doesn't fold up like other models so its not as portable. this drone could use some updates to its software, but I trust dji to get it done correctly as they normally do. lastly, you will probably have to crop out the props in edit. you can see them depending on your flight and camera angle. for me, this drone is great but I also own a mavic air 2. they are completely different drones for completely different things. realize that.... precovid I did travel photography, I like to be on the go a lot so this appeals to me over the standard fpv drone. I don't have time to build and tune. this is easier for me and it will get the shots I want as I transition to more videography. id recommend it as a solid stepping stone into fpv, and as something that can capture nice video. you can disagree with me, that's totally fine, but I've flown many different drones, and this is just my opinion.

This drone is absolutely incredible - a fantastic unit for newbies, those with moderate experience, and those who are experts at flying drones. To start, set up was a little tricky due to the DJI app from the App Store not supporting the unit yet. I was able to activate the drone and set it up successfully using my iMac, though. It took me maybe 20-30 minutes. Flying the drone is a breeze and to be honest, quite fun. The controller reminds me of an Xbox controller to some degree - very ergonomic and comfortable in your hands. The goggles allow you to see as if you were flying above and they do not disappoint. We are in the middle of purchasing land and I was able to use the drone to map out our land and get a birds eye view of what we are purchasing - so very cool. The battery is my only complaint (though from my understanding still better than other competitor drones), and it lasts for around 20 minutes. You can buy extra batteries and a triple charger which is something I plan to do in the future. All in all, an excellent drone. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an FPV drone (or someone just looking to have a lot of fun).

When researching this drone everyone said its a blast to fly but if the drone doesn't work from the factory your on your own unless your willing to take a 15% restocking fee. Not Best Buys fault but DJI has no customer support for this drone and if you research problems with connections on you tube, "plenty of pictures of people pulling their hair out". I tried all recommendations and it's says it has connection even can see picture but no matter what I do, the drone will not fly. I've gone through 2 batteries re-linking and trying different approaches and nothing.

It is a good drone. This drone it is easy to use for beginners because it has the *N" and then you could change to S or Acrobat. I am not happy with the battery because they only last like seven minutes of flight and they said like twenty minutes. I been flying my drone for a couple of weeks and I haven't see the battery to last more then those seven minutes. Dji needs to fix that and the battery are pretty big on side. So I think they could do better than that.

Quite the kit for a fast, light, acrobatic drone!

The DJI FPV is really something. Its not your typical drone and I get questions about it whenever I fly it. Not only is the drone itself a unique industrial design, but the overall kit is quite involved when flying, consisting of the drone, the FPV headset, the controller, and the associated parts. Everything you need to fly is included in the complete kit. The experience itself is pretty amazing, and I’ll try to itemize both the quirks and likes from each of the components, then talk about the flight and use experience later in the review. Lets start with the drone - As I mentioned before, its a unique look - The drone was widely anticipated as something totally new from DJI - It doesn’t look AT ALL like its Mavic or Phantom predecessors. It’s a forward-leaning posture with arms that DON’T fold up yet have an almost wing-like aerodynamic look, and a tall body that seems to be optimized for gimbal positioning and airflow during flight. The entire thing looks like its designed to flow best in a “lean forward” posture, which makes sense for some of the speeds this thing is capable of, but gives it a “grasshopper-like” appearance when sitting on the ground or when idling/hovering in position. The drone itself proves this design by being extremely nimble. I was amazed at just how maneuverable this device was, although my experience is primarily with larger drones, so this was my first FPV/racing-grade drone experience. I don’t have a lot of experience with DJIs smaller drones, such as the Mavic Mini, but this one still seems like a departure in the maneuverability department. What also impressed me was the speed and controls capability. This drone is FAST. You’re offered 3 flight modes. Normal, which brings all of DJIs safety/object/obstacle detection intelligence into play and limits flight speed to roughly 30mph. That’s right. You’re LIMITED to 30mph in Normal mode. Thats just the starting point. Sport mode is next, which eliminates some of the restrictions of Normal mode, but continues to practice object/obstacle detection, more in a warning mode. You can crash this drone in Sport mode. As a highlight, this mode has a top speed closer to 60mph. Double the Normal mode speed. I got some amazing footage (attached) in this sport mode over a local lake that’s been reduced in depth for upcoming rains and had some cool things going on. I was able to fly VERY quickly in some cases over the lake and around the shoreline and practice some fast turn maneuvers and quick-swing/drift acrobatics in Sport mode, The final mode is Manual, which disables all of the safety and automation in the drone and gives you the full power of the unit for speed and maneuvers/acrobatics. In this mode you now have the ability to do flips, barrel rolls and make adjustments to the controls to suit your needs. Many will think that it’s the mode you would want to fly on if you have drone flight/acrobatic experience, but this mode is COMPLEX and with NONE of the drone’s helper features, it can be VERY difficult to master. DJI offers simulators to practice with that are REQUIRED to unlock Manual mode, so even they understand that only tried and tested pilots should attempt this mode. This mode also releases all speed limits, and its been documented that some have achieved speeds of almost 80mph with this drone in Manual mode. This thing is noisy, and its motor sounds can be heard on recorded video, but is also VERY pronounced nearby when flying, more so than with other drones I have flown. This drone has tri-blade rotors for speed and as part of the lightweight design, and these are prominently heard and seen in video footage from the drone’s camera. Nothing a little video cropping in post can’t fix, but a little disappointing. On to controls specifically, the controller from this kit is top-notch. Not only does it have an impressive layout and GREAT axis controls, the radio range as it communicates with the drone is amazing. I was able to fly 1km away and was only 1-bar down from full signal strength… This was outdoors and with line-of-sight, but still impressive. The controller also has excellent heft and size - I have big hands and heard from others that the controller seemed HUGE to them. The controller has some interesting tricks up its sleeve for manual mode, including the ability to adjust the tension/tightness of the flight sticks in the back with the included Allen wrench. I adjusted mine a bit tighter to try this out, but found the factory setting good for Normal and Sport modes, while there are many advantages to adjustments based on your fly preferences, this removes the 'return to center’ behavior of the controller that is quite useful for beginners/casual pilots. On to the really unique element: The DJI Goggles V2 included in this kit are an unusual looking but work fantastically to give an immersive experience to the pilot, and to give a frame to the videographer using the drone to capture unique footage. I’ve got a pretty big head and the straps allow for adjustment well beyond the size of my melon! I’ve also been impressed at their signal range, which is just as good as the connection between the drone and remote controller. One strange thing about this headset is that it works with an external battery. This is accomplished by a USB Type C to 12V DC barrel proprietary 6ft connector cable that doesn’t seem to make much sense. Why not just integrate the battery into the headset? Why not use USB Type C for both ends of the connection so that non-proprietary cables could be used? There’s no attachment mechanism for that headset to the battery, so it needs to be carried separately, the cable run from a pocket or a table nearby, and no other USB Power packs or chargers can be used in lieu of the included battery pack. This kind of proprietary-for-the-sake-of-it approach is mildly infuriating as there is no technological reason for it. Its a shame too, as the headset itself performs beautifully. The only feedback Id give, and this is coming from a large-headed, wide-eyed fellow, is that the shape of the foam on the mask portion of the headset allows light in below my eyes that can be distracting during flight. If you have the ability to try on a DJI Goggles v2 headset before buying, I highly recommend it. So who is this strange-looking, lots-of-accessories-required drone made for? Its not quite light or nimble enough to compete with the custom racers out there, and its 1-axis gimbal prevents some of the acrobatics from delivering smoothly and creating exceptional content, so its not for content creators specifically, so I’m guessing its a unique attempt by DJI to do what they do best in the mainstream enthusiast market - Create a new category: Drones for people who want a jack-of-all-trades experience, but without the need for mastery of any of them. Impressive flight dynamics, video quality, and quirky output all characteristics of their core brand, but not the end-all-be-all of any one market - So that they attract the laymen of interest in all segments. It is a truly interesting drone and a fun kit to play with - Particularly with the immersion of FPV experience and its excellent range. I just don’t know how long it will be until v2 comes out taking on some of the shortcomings. I also don't know how much I'd recommend this to someone that has $1300 to spend on a great drone, but its the only current offering that bundles the FPV experience and is ready-to-fly right out of the box.
