I really like the drone!! It appears to be very durable because I have hit numerous things and it is still working perfectly. It flies really well in windy conditions. The only thing I wish was better on it is the distance it can fly away from you.

My review is aimed mostly at beginners but I hope to be helpful to everyone reading. Note: I received the DJI Mavic Air 2 (Fly More Combo) at no cost for an honest review. I have never owned a drone, and this is my first in-depth experience with one. The drone was packaged in a high-quality 100% polyester carrying case and even the way the zip-line is also insulated by a permeable material. Upon opening the case, I noticed a lot of parts included, so I immediately opened the quick-start guide to ensure I do things right. As a flight enthusiast, I noticed that the box says ADS-B, which, in lay terms, is a system that allows the drone to detect and avoid nearby aircraft and increase its positional accuracy. Looking forward to that. I also saw that there are 3 batteries included (Fly More Combo) and if each one is rated at 34 minutes max, that should provide me ample time to get some sweet videos and shots. There is some assembly required, but the step-by-step quick-start photo instructions made it easy to put the pieces together. You essentially put together the propellers and have to charge the battery first, but the propellers go on specific sides. (they’re labeled). Once it’s assembled, you can store it like that, so this is a one-time setup. This drone has 2 different types of propellers, (one type goes on front left/back right, and the other on front right/back left). You get 8 extra propellers just in case (4 per side). Installing them is easy, just push in and twist. I also had to assemble the remote, which comes with the joysticks tucked under it, and you screw them on the controls. You have to download the DJI Fly App which I’ll talk about later. Whether you have an iPhone, or an Android, DJI included 3 different types of cables for you to hook up to their USB-C remote (Micro USB, USB-C, and Apple’s Lightning). Once you plug the phone cable in to the remote, it can tuck away easily within the remote itself. I measured the phone holder and it goes between 2 inches to almost 4 inches. I have a Galaxy S9+ and it fit perfectly. Assembly took me 6 to 9 minutes once everything was out of the box. Upon picking up the Mavic Air 2 with a 11.55v, 3,500 mAh battery installed, it has some weight to it! Again, this is coming from someone who hasn’t flown one before. The drone feels like hard plastic, and seems durable. However, what looks a bit delicate is the gimbal which comes with a protector for storage. I really liked how all three batteries and the remote can be charged simultaneously (photo attached). The batteries and the remote have 4 lights each to indicate how charged they are, though I noticed that even with all 3 batteries on the charging dock, only one of them was indicating that it was charging. However, once that one charged, the lights on it went off (it was between 2-3 hrs) and the next battery lights went on, so it looks like the charging is sequential and not simultaneous. The Fly More combo also came with a USB charging adapter, to which you attach the drone battery, and charge 2 devices to it via the 2 USB ports. It is recommended that you turn off your phone’s Wi-Fi. Do not fly it in winds faster than 10m/s which is 22.4 mph or 19.4 knots (also watch for those gusts). The DJI Mavic Air 2 is NOT waterproof, so don’t expose it. Before flying though, I looked up regulations on where I can and can’t fly, so I downloaded these 3 apps: DJI Fly, B4UFLY, and Kittyhawk. They will give you all the info you need to fly safely, and if you decide to fly in controlled airspace First, I flew it by my house, and the DJI app has a real time tutorial which tells you exactly what to do to safely fly it. I used it the first time and it was very easy to follow. Coming back to land it though, I was a little nervous because when I hit the “home” button on the remote, the drone got close to my house (I was about 6-9 feet away from my house, but when the drone was descending, it started doing too close to my roof). By the way, when you tell it to fly home, you can either have it come where the remote is or update that location through the DJI Fly app. So next, I took it out to a beach, set it on a clean flat (sand-free) bench, connected my phone to the remote, pushed the drone battery button twice to turn it on and then the remote button twice, and it connected. Then, I held the fly button for a second on the phone, and it lifted off. The sound of the propellers reminded me of a swarm of murder hornets, so be careful flying around people, as they may get a little startled. At about 300-400 feet it’s hard to hear though (400ft is the highest I could go). Flying it is incredibly easy and stable. By default, with the left stick you climb, descend and yaw (rotate left/right). With the right stick you go forward/backwards and sideways. On the left shoulder of the remote there is a spring-loaded wheel that operates the camera angle. On the right shoulder of the remote, there is the photo/video button, depending on what you selected on you phone, so when you push it it’ll either start/stop recording or snap a photo. The drone is pretty fast, especially flying forward. It’s rated for 42mph and though I didn’t measure its speed, it was easily doing that when I pushed it in sport mode, maybe faster. There is a video of the Mavic Air 1 keeping up with a nearly 50mph vehicle so I have no doubt the Mavic Air 2 is even faster. NOTE, make sure that you have a good landing surface. I took off from a bench but the drone didn’t want to land back on it because it was barely big enough and because it got windy. Its sensors had detected an area “unsuitable for landing” so keep that in mind when you want to land it back. I was tempted to just grab the drone as it was hovering but ultimately it landed and its 2 rear arms were hanging out from the bench so that also made me a bit nervous because I thought it was going to fall into the sand! After 1 hour of flying, the remote was still showing a full charge, so the remote seems like it has really good operational capacity. The battery lasted me the 30+ minutes with hard use and in 60 degree weather with 10knot gusting 15 winds. The Mavic Air 2 is definitely good even if you are a beginner, though once I got into the DJI flying settings, that’s when things started to get much more in-depth. There are some settings I changed to make it easier for me, like I changed from metric to imperial system so I could go by feet instead of meters for altitude and distance (you can also do km). You can enable settings like “Advanced Pilot Assistant Systems” which will help you avoid obstacles. Then there is “Air Sense” which will alert you live if manned a/c are around and it’ll tell you what to do to avoid it. You can also select your transmission from your remote to 2.4ghz, 5.8ghz, or dual band (default). One neat was that you could check the number of times the batteries were charged, since each battery has its own serial number. This will help you if like me, you want to evenly use all batteries. You can also edit the remote button/joystick functions and there are 4 settings, including a custom option if you don’t like the default flying controls. THE BEST FEATURE in my opinion is the track (ActiveTrack 3.0) mode. The Mavic Air 2 tracks like a BOSS. So long as there are no lengthy obstructions of the object it’s following, it’ll do it well. It followed me as I ran through an open area with ease, and it captured it in a cinematic style. The videos are weird with no sound so add some music in the background when editing and they will look awesome. You can make it so it tracks you and follows you, or make it so it stays in one place and follows you with just the camera. Alternatively, you can have the drone circle around a point. I just had to use one finger to make a little box around whatever I want it to follow, and it did it. The object just has to be relatively well-visible, because it wouldn’t do it when the drone was high and I was but a few pixels. Things I desire from the drone: 1- I wish you could change the settings on it on the app, so that when I was ready to fly it, my desired settings would be ready. However, you have to connect to it if you want to see and change those in-flight features. However, if you won’t be messing with the settings too much, once you change them, they stay that way until you change them again. 2- This combo came with 3 neutral density (ND) filters. I could not remove the stock filter to install these because I was afraid I was going to break the gimbal. What I did, was try different photos with the filter on top of the current one by holding the filters with my hand. What I found was that you probably really only need it if you want to take manual photos under certain bright conditions. However, leaving the photo mode in “Auto” was perfect for my needs. If you figure out an easy way to remove the ND lens, please tell me. 3- A more comprehensive tutorial/instructions of all the features. It was hard to find these (and sometimes I didn’t), though maybe I wasn’t looking in the right place. (Like how to properly attach my ND filter). Things I like about it: Practically everything else. If you have any questions, please ask away. I hope this review helps. By the way, if you do decide to buy it, I would highly suggest the Fly More Combo – what you get with it is fantastic. I am now officially a DJI Mavic Air 2 enthusiast and if I ever upgrade, it will definitely be a DJI product. Don't forget to get a micro SD card! (256 GB max) The drone only has 8gb internal storage!

I wanted something that can take me to heights I can't reach and be able to see the world in a way that you can't from the ground. This drone will get you up and flying with no knowledge of how to fly right away. I have taken it out for a couple hours already and have only had it for a few days and couldn't be happier. If your looking for a drone get this one. Especially if your looking at the mini, spend a little more and get the better deal with the Mavic Air 2.

super cool drone. works super well and is dummy proof. comes with everything you could need. except a memory card. but it has 8 gigs of internal storage. definitely isnt enough for 4k vids. they can be saved in the dji app but they are kinda bad quality. thats why you need a good memory card or just remember to download then delete the vids/pics off the drone so you could continue to get good quality stuff
