Horrible DJI
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I want to express my horrible experience with DJI and their products. I warn anybody to think twice before they purchase any products from DJI. Last Christmas my wife as a gift purchased the DJI Mavic Pro drone for me literally a stretch for us for 1k. In that span of a year i must have flown it only a matter of five times and taking care of it so carefully just like all my things. On the last flight i notice a smudge on the screen thinking it was on the lens i clean it and nothing, i even changed phones to see if it was the screen and nothing. So it pretty much was something internal in the lens. I call customer service literally the next day and they came to conclusion i need to send it in. I send in the drone and they themselves said the drone was in perfect condition and that in fact the problem was with a faulty lens. So i said ok well i know I'm out of the warranty for two weeks they will help a customer and repair it free of cost. Boy was i wrong everything with customer service and how employees treat you was a nightmare. They said i had to pay $166 dollars to fix it and that the product has warranty for a year but that the gimble only had 6 months warranty. I argued and said im only two weeks away from warranty and i only flew the drone 5 times its not supposed to be faulty after such little use and good care. They didnt care. They never tell you that the gimble has a different warranty. Then i escalated to have a manager call all to tell me he couldnt do anything. I said well your a manager connect me with someone higher that can do something. They said he was the highest in authority but couldnt do anything. Wow a faulty drone and they dont want to honor up to their bad products and to top it off if they do fix it then its only protected for 30 days and it breaks again repairs are my responsibility again. WOW. And let me add few weeks ago i bought the DJI Osmo pocket only to have audio problems and sound delays and it was literally a brand new product with a lot of problems. I returned it in a heartbeat few days ago. Garbage. Make the long story short its a money pit and it almost seems they want these problems to happen so you can continue to fork out more money. I never had this issue with any electronic company in my life. I suggest sticking with other companies that are consumer friendly like gopro etc. And better believe it i will escalate this through a legal process. I'm sure Im not th only one going through this.

Great for beginners

Yes for rookies this drone is awesome and will for the most part keep you out of trouble. As for the geo fencing? Efffing frustrating. My father is a helicopter and sport plane pilot for I have regard and well educated on aviation. What I find annoying is I can't even fly 30 ft AGL in my area. The restrictions are bull. I shouldn't have updated the dam thing. Does dji really think all these restrictions help? Now Im driven to build my own and I am going big. 80mph, 4k, dji sucks.

Posted .Hey Mike, we understand the frustration that users that find that the places they most want to fly are within a no fly zone feel. However, GEO was developed to ensure that as many pilots across the country and globe are flying confidently knowing they are not a safety hazard to other aircrafts. You may be able to contact your local airspace regulator to see if you can get the authority necessary to fly. DJI is flexible in that regard.
We are working our very best to be a compromise between safety and freedom, and users' and airspace regulators' specific needs. Thank you for your input as these types of comments are heard loudly. Have fun and safe flying!

Warning DO NOT WASTE YOUR $

On the first attempt to fly, in beginner's mode, the drone popped up hovered at about 4 feet for a minute, was unresponsive and then shot up 50 feet in the air where it hovered, disconnected from the remote, unresponsive until the battery died and then it fell straight to the ground crashing into pieces. Best Buy DOES NOT stand by the products that they sell!!! Took it back with in 24 hours of purchase and they told us we had to contact the manufacturer. DO NOT PURCHASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DJI Mavic is a DJI Mess!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased my Mavic Pro November 3rd and received it December 15th. I opened up the box and saw this beauty of a drone. It was very compact, sleek, and did not have a cheap feel to it. I thought this was thee drone. Before my first flight I got an ESC warning, or Electronic Speed Control, this is considered a very serious warning. I rebooted the drone and the error went away. I flew my Mavic and loved it. I flew that drone a total of 9 times and received 4 ESC warnings. I contacted DJI and they said that was abnormal. Rather than wait for a long replacement I decided to just return this drone and buy one again when Best Buy had them. When I took mine in to return it, Best Buy informed me they had 2 Mavic drones in the back!! Unbelievable since they are backordered!! I was so happy, I exchanged my drone for a new one and took it home to fly. I updated the latest firmware, Calibrated the IMU and Compass. I took it out to fly, as soon as the Mavic lifted off, it took control of itself and flew right in a wall.That was my first drone crash ever, I own another DJI drone... I tried to regain control over the Mavic but the drone would not respond. 2 Mavic Drones with 2 major problems. The Mavic was perfect for everything I wanted, but 2 for 2 is enough to make me walk away. If you do purchase this drone just be careful, I recommend your first few flights to be in an open field to see if it has any issues. Best Buy was vey professional and took back my drone without a hassle, I think I am the first person to return two Mavic drones in one day. It has a great design and idea behind it, but it just did not work out for me.

POOR CHOICE FOR A DRONE

The drone and controller do not communicate, The remote displays UNACTIVATED. Their site says you need to register an account and activate the drone. Tried that earlier, Very difficult to get onto their site and after registration still get the UNACTIVATED If this is not resolved to my satisfaction I will be returning this item and going with a different brand.VERY UNHAPPY

We really want you to have a delightful experience with your new aircraft like the multitude of Mavic Pro enthusiasts around the globe! During the activation process, do check that you have a good wifi connection at home/work if your smartphone is connecting to the Internet via wifi. Also check that the small 'Control Mode Switch' on the right side of the aircraft is securely switched to 'RC' (see page 8 of the user manual for a pic - http://bit.ly/2p4OMyx) . Confirm that your smartphone is on the approved list of compatible devices found under 'APP/LIVE VIEW' at http://www.dji.com/mavic/info#specs . (In very isolated cases, some smartphones may require you to go into 'Developer options' and turn 'USB debugging' on). Instruction Manual

Seriously, what were they thinking. So annoyed with just this part I returned it. I know, I know, I know. But if you pay 1k for something that you can't do the first step on (i.e READ, I mean actually be able to SEE the words directions then why keep it) . I'll end up crashing it....ha ha.

Posted .Hey Flyguy, although you're right that the included paper manual is not as great as it could be, we have created a large amount of incredibly detailed instructional content and tutorials guiding new pilots through the entire process of setting up, safely flying, and using all the great features packed in our drones. No Android products allowed

If you have an Android phone you need to find another brand, DJI does not work with Android phones and you will be forced to get an iPhone.

Posted .Sorry you did not have success using an Android phone. It should work perfectly with a large amount of Android phones. Please contact customer support if you are having issues. (I personally use and LG V30 and have been nothing but successful).

Terrible drone! Doesn't work still after days!!
