This is my first drone. I love how complete the package is with all of the extra blades, the carrying case, extra batteries, and the charging hub. It has made getting up in the air much faster, and less stressful! I'm so happy that I purchased the Fly More Combo!

Of all of the great things I can say about this wonderful drone is that there is a feature that was the decisive point to choose this little fella. Because it weighs just under 249 grams, it falls within the weight limit that exempts it from certain drone regulations in many countries, and you don’t have to worry about current FAA with registration. So you will be able to fly without a license and over urban locations. This is my first drone. I have some RC Balsa planes that I love to fly, and I also love taking pictures and videos, so this “Toy” was the perfect combination for me. Easy to learn how to operate and fly. I have seen other drones from friends of mine, that are bigger and obviously require licensing and registration, but this little one is fast, way more agile, quick response, and has excellent flying features. Another thing that caught me off guard was its size. When I received the box, I thought there was a mistake. You can easily carry with you without even notice it. The protection for the blades and the gimbal protector is very useful for safe transportation, reliable and clever idea. Since it is my first drone, I was concerned about how long it would take me to learn how to fly, record videos and take pictures all at the same time. But I was able to understand immediately how to operate it and fly. I would say its design and features are very intuitive, so I would say it’s a drone for beginners. Another thing that stands out for beginners like me is the “return Home feature.” So, in the case you lose sight of the drone, it will automatically return to you. Despite its size and weight, this thing is incredibly fast, its quick maneuver response is very pleasant. I think this drone is missing obstacle avoidance (I haven’t tried to crash it) but this missing feature is compensated by the other wonderful features like ultra-light weight, easily carry anywhere, you can fly it in more places than the larger drones, is very quiet, and because it has sensors on the base, it will perform auto take-off and landing actions. The Combo package is definitely a bonus. Bag, propellers, and 2 extra Additional batteries will get you ready for extended flight times or unexpected situations. And even if you are running out of the 3 Batts, the charger is fast enough to get back the drone in the air sooner. The DJI Mini 2 SE offers an exceptional user experience from the moment you receive it. The packaging is well-organized, making locating all the included components effortless. One of its standout features is its incredibly lightweight design. This makes it the perfect companion for all outdoor adventures, whether hiking, going on a road trip, spending a day at the beach, or looking to capture stunning moments from the sky. The DJI Mini 2 SE is a breeze, with user-friendly tasks and a handy Return to Home feature for added peace of mind if the battery gets low. It impressively allows for video transmission up to 10 kilometers, enabling you to extend your flights and capture more while maintaining a stable connection throughout your adventures. You'll also love the Quick Shots and various intelligent features that are easily accessible with just a few taps, allowing you to capture aerial footage that rivals that of a professional cinematographer. The flight time is around half hour, the drone comes with one battery and there are 2 more included, so you have enough time for more fun experience. However, while having fun with the DJI, there’s no need to worry about the battery running low and maybe the drone becoming unreachable. Thanks to its built-in Return to Home feature, the drone can autonomously return to its takeoff point with precision, ensuring that it safely lands, even if you’re a bit too far from the controls. This feature adds an extra layer of peace of mind to your flying experience You can capture more aerial moments, whether exploring, recording captivating footage, or simply having fun, all while enjoying increased confidence and peace of mind. Even when faced with strong winds, this drone remains impressively stable, ensuring you can confidently soar and capture content in a broader range of locations with unparalleled reliability. The DJI app is easy to learn and use and it will take care of all firmware updates for the controller and the drone. Your screen display is your phone, I have a Samsung Galaxy and it fits perfectly in the spot of the controller, and obviously everything will be recorded on the phone, which is good thing. I added an extra 256Gb microSD so my phone can store all the videos and pictures the drone will be recording. Drone and controller feels and looks high quality, solid and durable, with an ergonomically design for the use. The Mini 2 SE films in 2704 x 1520, and the camera is 12MP. The 360 Camera is amazing with an outstanding video quality, no matter how far the drone is located, pictures and videos looks amazing! If you love making videos and flying drones, like I do, you will love the DJI Mini 2 SE. It is a game-changer due to its lightweight design, ease of operation, and impressive features making it a must-have for anyone that is looking to make videos and capture memorable moments. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced pilot, this drone will unlock your creativity and let you take your aerial photography and videography easily and with excellent quality.

The DJI Mini 2 SE is my first camera drone from this brand, and my first high-end UAV as I would consider my previous experiences with drones to be “toy-grade.” Drone users are required to register with the FAA for a small fee though an exception is carved out for recreational use if the drone is under 249g; a criteria this drone would meet if not using in the context of a business (like content creation, marketing, or real estate). Note that even unregistered drone users must follow all FAA UAV regulations, and there are apps that’ll help you find unregulated airspaces where you can fly the safely drone within those rules. I like that this Fly More Combo edition comes with a shoulder bag that has compartments for all the extra included accessories, like the 3 sets of replacement rotors (6 pairs), charging dock, and 2 extra batteries. The joysticks for the remote control are removable and stored in its base to make it more compact and less susceptible to damage. All components charge via USB-C including the drone, remote control, and dock which require the use of an 18W QuickCharge or PD charger (not included). The drone itself is well-constructed, about the size of my hand, and very lightweight without feeling cheap. It’s also pretty durable, able to sustain occasional brushes with tree leaves and small branches being no worse for wear. The three batteries can be charged together in the bi-directional dock. Note that when charging, however, the batteries will charge one at a time in sequence rather than simultaneously. This ensures that at least 1 battery will be fully charged in the shortest amount of time. After you install a battery in the drone, the two remaining batteries in the dock can be used as a power bank to charge your phone or the remote control, though it only has 1 output USB-C port. Each battery can power the drone for up to 30 minutes of flight time. Unpacking and setting up the drone for the first-time was pretty simple. The arms and blades on the drone fold in for compact storage and are secured and protected by the removable rubber band propeller holder. The gimbal is also protected with a semi-opaque cover that must be removed prior to flight. To turn on the drone and controller, short press the power buttons once, then press and hold them for a few seconds. This sequence helps prevent accidental start up. The remote and drone will pair with each other automatically once on. You’ll need to download and install the DJI Fly app to a mobile phone. Android users will have to download the app directly from DJI’s website, as it does not appear in the Google Play store. Your phone is then placed in the phone holder that extends from the top of the remote control, and you’ll connect the two using the built-in USB-C cable just below the phone grip. Just be mindful that larger phones may be a tight fit as mine just barely fit even after I removed its case. Three short USB-C RC cables are included for different phone models using USB-C, Lightning, or microUSB connections. Make sure to note which side is marked for the remote controller. Once activated, you have 48 hours to bind a Care Refresh policy, DJI's extended replacement warranty, if purchased separately. The app shows you a first-person view of the camera footage from the drone as well as gives you some on-screen flight controls like auto-takeoff, return to home, and landing. You can also change the settings, for example safety measures like max altitude and distance, and auto-return altitude. The app provides access to camera modes, settings, and controls, gimbal tilt, and file playback. The camera saves files directly to a microSD card up to 256 GB capacity (not included) with a recommended speed of V30 or higher. You can download files wirelessly at high-speed from the drone to your phone through the app. As I’ve flown drones before, I'm somewhat familiar with the controls, though I’m by no means an expert pilot. The controller plus the phone was just a tad heavy for me at around 1.25 lbs. The handling of the drone was smooth with instantaneous responsiveness to joystick movement. Safety settings like max altitude, range (geofence), and RTH altitude worked great, stopping the drone at the limits of your parameters and announcing it in the app. The Mini 2 SE is rated to resist wind/gusts up to 10.7 m/s or 24 mph, though I found at high wind speeds, hovering in place was a bit of a struggle for it and ate up battery life faster. There are three flight modes you can toggle on the remote. Normal mode uses GPS signal and downward vision system (DVS) to locate and stabilize itself. There are intelligent flight modes called QuickShots that perform preset aerials, like ‘Rocket,’ ‘Circle,’ and ‘Dronie’ which allow you to focus the camera on a subject then record a video while automatically performing the selected action, keeping your subject centered in the frame for a cool cinematic effect. Check your surroundings for potential obstacles in the pre-programmed flight path before activating these modes, though you can stop the automation using the pause button, control sticks, or on-screen control at any time. In Sport mode flight speed and agility are optimized with quicker, more aggressive responsiveness to controller stick movement. The drone will also travel faster up to its max speed of 16 m/s. In the third mode, Cine, the drone’s movements are slowed down while braking and rotating, resulting in more fluid footage, eliminating sudden stops and jerks. Be wary that the drone may drift slightly after you let go of the control sticks, so leave a bit of extra room for clearance. The Mini 2 SE lacks 4K video, topping out at 2K at 30fps, though 60fps is achievable at 1080p resolution. At max resolution, I found the video footage to be adequate for social media and B-roll footage as it has decent color and contrast, but the footage can look a little smeary during faster movement, especially while rotating. The gimbal does a nice job with stabilization keeping the horizon level and motion buttery smooth. The camera lens has a nice wide angle and 12MP quality when taking still photos. Overall, this drone is a great intro unit for me to familiarize myself with piloting a UAV. It’s simple to setup, handles well, takes nice photos and videos, and has a number of safety and automatic features that make it fun and easy to use. The three batteries give you up to 1.5 hours of flight time and charge quickly. I did end up getting DJI’s 2-year care refresh plan as it seemed a small expense for peace of mind while I become more proficient at flying it.

Fantastic little drone to get you started in the world of DJI. It has great performance and features for the price. Do not expect it to have active tracking, it does not. It is a basic drone but out performs most other non-DJI products! Photos taken with drone.

I’m fairly new to flying a drone, but I’m a fan of DJI minis. I currently own the DJI mini 2 and enjoy the ease of use. I didn’t find much of a difference between the mini 2 and the mini 2 SE. The DJI – Mini 2 SE Fly More Combo Drone with Remote Control includes a charging case, 3 batteries, and a nice carry bag. The kit also includes extra propellers, mini screwdriver, and phone adapters that will fit any type of phone/chargers. My iPhone 12 mini fit in the remote, but the phone needs to be placed carefully inside the holder. The springs press against the volume and power buttons and interfere with the phone functions. The app was easy to download on my phone to begin use. The functions of the app were easy to understand and maneuver. The app locates where you are and suggests popular spots in the area to fly the drone. The drone and remote with additional batteries are very packable. I have purchased a fanny pack (in place of the included bag) for the drone to carry on bike rides. When stopped for a break, I’m able to capture awesome footage while out on an adventure. I’ll get the drone out and ready to fly. It’s quick and easy to take off and land. The drone can be quickly packed away before heading out again. The footage is very clear and the stabilization on the drone is surprisingly well for such a small drone. I have received several compliments on the footage and pictures taken from the drone. Since I’m not a great pilot of the drone, I appreciate the quickshot functions offered on the app. The mini 2 SE has additional quickshot options that make the video smoother and more professional looking while recording. I also appreciate the “return home” function since I seem to “lose” the drone while flying. As I said before, I’m pretty new to flying a drone, so I don’t have much to compare the mini 2 SE against. I would highly recommend the DJI-Mini 2 SE if you are looking to purchase a new drone, especially if you are new to flying a drone. It’s compact, lightweight, and easy to use.

I love shooting video for work and even more so for fun!!! My home movies are works of art that my family and I love watching over and over reliving our vacations and really cementing the memories in our minds. For work… they add to my value standing as an employee and help accomplish professional goals for me and my organization and to document that through media. My work has some older drones that we use that are “huge” compared to the DJI Mini se 2… which means they are difficult to use and a pain in the rear to lug around to locations and to transport. I knew the new drones are small…but I really had kind of written them off as toys….Until I met the DJI mini 2se. First the size…I was quite frankly shocked with how small and light weight it is…I mean I can pack it in a jacket pocket….I’m not exaggerating. And you know the cool thing about the design is it is safe to do so. I love the gimbal protector they provide (be sure to take it off before you fly) and the blade protector…BRILLIANT! It folds up and it is solid and safe for some rather serious hiking or climbing. The case it comes in even has a little foam padding on the bottom and top where the drone sits and the case is really awesome. It’s small…but plenty or compartments to keep the drone safe and allows you to carry the battery charging station and all the cables with you and the remote too!!! The whole drone and accessories fit in a case that I slid into my backpack along with a vlogging camera, a 360 camera and a couple of actions cameras… I mean I had a whole studio production unit in a backpack!!! Just amazingly helpful. A great vacation should not be interrupted by me always lugging around a ton of cameras or just not taking them out in the first place due to the size…Not so with the DJI mini 2se!! The Charing unit is worth a little more review time… It comes with one battery in the DJI mini and two more in the charging case… each has 31 minutes of flight time. I went up for about 20 minutes each sortie…plenty of time to get the establishing shots or general transition shots of sights. BUT.. when one of my action cameras ran out of juice …you can plug the action camera into the DJI charging station and charge it!!!! It uses the juice of one battery then the next as needed…you can also plug in your phone or anything else for that matter that can charge usb. No laptops ect but any usb style small device…no problem. SOOOO versatile for multi media geeks like me!!!! The first vacation I was able to use it on was a perfect venue for a drone…Glamping trip at a resort in Branson Missouri! Beautiful lakes and wooded trees everywhere you looked. A majestic scenery that is hard to catch and get the scale of from a single camera. I was a little nervous about taking the drone out over the lake… it is small and light weight and there was 11mph breeze going… The marketing said it could fly in about 23 mph, so I was in a pretty safe margin to use it…but it made me nervous. I wanted to get a fly in shot from the lake to our glamping tree house tent. I set it on the concrete picnic table… I put my phone in the remote control holder and pushed the assisted take off button…I really like the assisted take off button and assisted landing button. It really makes it so much easier to get it up and down with minimal freak out urges to push the sticks wildly lol!!! Up it went and I carefully navigated left and right and through the trees and canopy out to open lake waters… It’s breathtaking to watch the screen and see cinematography magic happen on your phone!!! So much fun!!! I got out to the lake only a few hundred feet ( marketing information says you can go about 6 miles!!! FAA doesn’t want you to let it out of your sight though) and I turned around and flew back in. The record button is on your right side top and super easy to hit. Butter smooth gimbal and just the right speed to really get you movie quality shots!! Really amazing! The control are responsive and the DJI just handles spectacularly. I fly toy helicopters and older larger drones… the DJI is a sports car… left right up and down, spin, hovers rock solid even in a pretty stiff breeze. It also has the return to home and some other “intelligent modes” but the thing that really came to mind was just how easy and fun this thing was to fly. I mean I will probably fly it just for fun and not even to shoot work or home movies! It’s just fun!!!! The DJI fly app is one of the best apps I have ever used as far as its form to function rating and I forgot that I was using my phone as the monitor/controller and that it didn’t come with the DJI. I was not sure if I would like that …How well would my phone fit it ect. It fits great and I have a sleek case on mine Iphone promax 12. the DJI controller is designed not to have a phone case on your phone so if you have a big phone case you will probably have to take it out of the case. My phone has a thin case so it doesn’t fit like a glove but it solid and like I said I forget about it being my phone! I also like that as I upgrade my phones….yep…my controller gets an upgrade too!!!! You can record to your phone if you want or to an Micro SD card. I like both. I’d say it’s a dealers choice on which to use. If I am shooting a tone of stuff for work or home I would use a Micro SD card. If you want to have some shots to show quickly I would record to my phone. Just depends on how you edit and like to truck the media around. The controller feels solid and sturdy in the hand. Back to the brilliant design. The left and right thumb sticks screw in and out and then store in the base of the controller for safe and easy transport!!! I love that. The camera can be lowered and raised to get a strait down shot or forward looking shot with an easy to use scroll wheel. You can also access other settings on your phone while flying to change the settings you want. Just depends on how much tweeking you want to do. And then the last thing…is the video quality is awesome! I cannot believe you can get the video quality and the ease of use from such a compact powerhouse!! I didn't spend a ton of time talking about video quality because that's a staple now... you have to have the quality or it's game over before you leave the gate! DJI knows video quality!!! I mean, I am just really impressed with what DJI has created with this unit!!! If you love making videos, vlogging or for any occasion…you really need to have an air presence these days. There is no one doing it better than DJI and the DJI 2 SE really packs a punch with features and performance. You can’t go wrong with this drone!

    ## What's the difference between the DJI Mini 2 vs Mini 2 SE? The main difference between the Mini 2 vs Mini 2 SE (not to be confused with the Mini SE, which does not have a "2") is the video quality. The SE reduces the video resolution from 4K on the Mini 2 to 2.7K on the Mini 2 SE. Photo capabilities are the same with the same 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor with a 12MP resolution. Other than the lack of 4K video, the DJI Mini 2 SE has virtually all the same features of the original DJI Mini 2 at a reduced price tag. # What's included in the Fly More package vs the "regular" DJI Mini 2 SE? The Fly More package includes 2 additional batteries for over 90 minutes of flying time (the "regular" version only includes 1 battery). It also includes a charging hub, extra propellers, and a shoulder bag. However, a Micro SD card is *not* included which is needed to take full advantage of the camera’s quality. ## Design The DJI Mini 2 SE is meant to be smaller and more portable than some of DJI's other models. The Mini 2 SE folds up nicely in a small "brick" formation that fits nicely in the shoulder bag included in the Fly More version. This makes it easy to travel with the drone because precious carry-on space is usually at a premium. There are also protectors included for the delicate gimbal and propellers. ## Performance Like most of DJI’s drone, the Mini 2 SE is easy to control, however it is missing the obstacle avoidance sensors on DJI’s larger drones. The app provides a nice tutorial and allows you to limit the maximum height the drone can fly. The drone also “remembers” where it takes off from and will attempt to return home if the battery gets low, or it loses signal with the controller. The remote has no built-in screen and requires a connection to your smartphone. It took some finagling to get my iPhone 14 Pro Max (with case) to fit in the controller’s phone clamp, but it did fit with very little wiggle room. However, I find using an older, smaller phone (like the iPhone X) to be much easier to quickly pop into the phone clamp. The bundle comes with both a Lightning, Micro USB, and a USB-C cable that can be stowed away underneath the clamp when the controller is not in use. The DJI Mini 2 SE is missing some of the photography features of the larger Mavic Air 2, such as Smart HDR photos and HDR video. However, it still offers most of the popular features most drone pilots would want: panoramic shots and “dronie” selfies (where the drone videos you as it flies backwards and upwards). Annoyingly, the Mini 2 SE has no onboard storage and requires a Micro SD card to save your photos and videos in high resolution (and not even the Fly More package throws in the needed Micro SD card). Without a Micro SD card inserted, the drone can save lower resolution photos and videos to your smartphone via the DJI Fly app. Although the video resolution is lower than the original Mini 2, the SE version still takes crisp photos and buttery smooth videos (thanks to the 3-axis gimbal). ## Battery Life Each battery pack gets you up to 31 minutes of flight time. There is no wall adapter included, but the batteries can be recharged with a standard wall charger from a phone or tablet using the included USB-C cable. ## Summary Despite the lack of obstacle avoidance sensors, the DJI Mini 2 SE is still a great starter drone with its ease of operation and great photo and video quality. Although the Fly More combo comes with extra accessories, it lacks a Micro SD card, which is needed to take full advantage of the Mini 2 SE’s great photo and video features.

So having flown drones before (starting with a self-built and Phantom 2), you quickly appreciate just how amazing the form factor is on the mini. With it being under 250 grams, it allows you some extra flexibility in the US and really the star of the show is the fact that you can just throw it in a bag. I can't tell you how often I'd hesitate to take a Phantom with me because it meant lugging around a large box or having to store it and put it away. This is as simple as it gets, unfold the arms (in the correct order), attach a phone, and off you go. Love that the battery charger include will take care of all three batteries (one already loaded and two in the charger to start). In terms of flight, it's not quite as stable as the larger drones which makes sense considering its weight. It does a great job of staying stable and combating the wind though and really the biggest concern is when it's fairly windy, you'll have to be careful about landing as it can definitely be blown off course if you have a smaller solid piece of ground to land on. Due to the propellers being so close to the ground, I'd be hesitant to land on grass and keeping a folded pad handy does wonders for providing a stable landing spot. I think the most unique thing about the propellers is they're not fixed when not in use. As the drone starts up, centrifugal force will position them correctly but it definitely gives you pause for a moment when you see them sliding back and force. Camera on this setup is perfect for what this drone is meant for, which is more of an introduction to the drone space or a quick jaunt to grab a shot or scene. There's definitely better cameras out there but I'd only worry about that if you're delving into getting the perfect shot, shooting movies, etc... Stuff on that level in terms of goals. With the ease of use and cost, I'm happy to let my younger family members try this out and getting to experience their first foray into the drone world and I have a sneaking suspicion it will be on a lot of future gift lists.

I am have been waiting to get a small drone that had longer than 15 mins flight time. Then this gem came along and I am so happy I waited for it. I wanted to share some highlights and not so highlinghts with you on this device. Good: light small easy to fly (with practice) easy to store with included prop straps and camera cover dual signal controller, so you will almost never have drop outs extra batteries and charge case is a fun saver. letting you fly longer and therefore have fun longer. perfect video and pictures (when set to your specs in settings) 3 fly speeds (cinema, sport, and regular) so the noobs and experts can enjoy equally. low weight (mine is 246g) of less than 250g. so no need to register to fly. easy to follow onscreen instructions to assist you in getting airborne. control of drone is smooth and fluid with great stick response. pictures are high quality with the ability to capture in jpeg and jpeg/raw. video is fantastic for this size drone. With 1080 and 2.7k resolutions available with 4:3 and 16.9 ratios. it is so much quieter than other drones I have heard/tried. charging time is good, but depends on your power source. I use a power-strip USB port which charges the drone and the controller in about 3 hours. However, it you use a direct plugin you I am sure you will get quicker times. sticks are easy to reach when controller is held. controller weight is nice as it does not fatigue your hands like some other heavier ones out there. Bad: IOS offers phone charging via the controller, but Android does not Android app needs to be downloaded from DJI website, not the App Store requires registration before you can get updates or fly unable to change led colors on device with android app So as you can see, the highlights are great and the lowlights are more or less related to the app itself and not the drone (which can fly with out app or phone if needed). So get it and have some fun,

The DJI Mini 2 SE Done is a fantastic done for those who want to take high quality aerial photos but are not experienced in flying drones or those who want a light weight camera that can go anywhere. Setup is straight forward, the Fly More combo comes with the drone, carry case, remote controller, 3 x batteries (only one required to fly the drone, the other two are for extended flying time), charging hub, spare propellers and screws, and USB-C / Lightning connector, / mirco-USB connectors for connecting the controller to the phone. To get started plug in the charging cable to the battery hub, this is used to charge both the batteries and the controller. Note, the batteries need to be charged to activate them for the first time. Next scan the QR code in the quickstart guide to download the DJI Fly app. Lastly, power on the drone and pair to the app and ready to fly. I've piloted this drone with both an iphone XR and an android Samsung S22 Ultra, the software is seamlessly compatible with no issues or lag. Two items to note, a micro SD card is not included, but required, and there are repair / replacement plans and cinematography editing packages available on DJIs website. The repair plan must be purchased within the first 48 hours after activation. Flying is incredibly straight forward, while the Mini 2 SE does not have all the features of the full sized DJI drones (lacks collision avoidance, lower camera resolution) it wins in portability, responsiveness, and ease of use. The drone weighs in at 0.5 lbs and fits in my hand at 5.5" long, 3.2" wide. The done is advertised to fly up to >9 miles away, however I haven't been brave enough to go that far, and typically stay within 2 - 3 linear miles from where I'm located. The drone has some serious power with a max ascent rate of 16 foot per second, and max speed of just under 36 mph. Flight time is advertised at 31 minutes based on environment, and with gusting wind (15 mph gusts recorded) and frequent videos, I had the drone up for 20 continuous minutes with no low battery warning. One nice feature is the battery warning that will give alerts when the battery is low based on the software determining the amount of battery required to return home. This drone is easy and intuitive enough to fly that I was able to let my 12 year old fly it solo on his first attempt. I do wish collision avoidance was available on this model, as that is the one feature that would make this drone beginner proof. Otherwise, it's easy to launch, control even in windy conditions, fly, land, and the auto film modes lets any novice produce high quality, visually stunning, content. As far as cinematography, the done has three modes, normal, cinematic (slow and smooth response) and sport mode (fast controller response, faster acceleration). The lens offers an 83 degree field of view, f2.8 aperture, 12 MP resolution, and live view from controller of 720p. The still photography modes (see attached photos) are single shot, timed shot, automatic exposure bracketing, and panorama in sphere, 180 and wide angle modes. Videos are 2.7k resolution, MP4 format, with automatic filming settings of dronie (back and away selfie style), helix, rocket, circle, and boomerang. These features allow anyone from an entry level user, hobbyist, up to avid content creator to produce high quality videos and opens up a whole new level of aerial cinematography. With the drone being slightly lower resolution and lacking collision avoidance, I'm not sure I'd recommend this for a beginner trying to capture low hovering filming. When considering the portability of this drone, I see it really excelling in landscape, adventure activities, and other activities where you don't want to carry around large cases or heavy cameras. Overall I love how user friendly the Mini 2 SE is, the portability, and the ease of use. This is a fantastic drone that will suit any beginner while still offering features that will impress even the most experienced drone pilots.

I have always wanted to get a drone, but was never sure what model would be best, so I perpetually waited on a beginner model but not a low-end no-name-brand drone. DJI has an ironclad reputation as a drone manufacturer, so logically it had the most promise vs. the other drone choices in the market. I’ve always associated drones with potentially bad behavior, like flying without registration or violating rules. I’m happy to report this model is perfect for someone like me; someone who wants quality, but not $1,500 quality. Enter the DJI Mini 2 SE, their entry level model. It’s small enough to not require FAA registration, but of course you still need to adhere to all FAA and local/state laws. Fortunately, the drone software handles these hurdles on its own as it’s more than capable of following the rules on your behalf. Despite the Mini 2 SE being the entry level model for DJI, the experience using it makes me feel like a pro within a few flights. It has a nice camera that provides clear shots and footage, albeit not 4k, etc. That’s fine with me since taking aerial shots and video is something I’ve never had the opportunity to do before. It goes very high, but stops at the pre-set limit that will keep you out of trouble. You can manually override this max setting, but the software warns you to be cognizant of local laws as you are on your own if you choose to ignore the safety-net setting. Maneuverability is impressive and after a few hours of flying, I’ve only “crashed” it once, which was a simple propeller swap for one “leaf”. It’s definitely not the fastest drone out there, but as a beginner level device, that’s to be expected. For me, it is plenty fast and frankly a blast to fly around. It’s like an RC Car, but in the sky. Fun times! I read that you should definitely enroll in the DJI protection plan, which has to be added within 48 hours of first use. It’s really reasonably priced at $59/2 years ($39/1 year). You can, of course, also get Geek Squad, but at a higher cost. Despite my successful flights so far, I just know I will slam it into a tree at some point, so an accidental damage plan was a must for me. Footage wise, the photos and video are crystal clear, especially on a bright, sunny day. I did fly it at night, which was awesome, despite the video/photo quality not being that great (as expected). The return to home feature is perfect for a beginner as you will feel like you are lost in the dark. Just press return to home and the drone comes right back to you by itself. It’s hard to “trust” it if you’ve never used a drone, but my findings are that it's 99% accurate when returning to its starting point. The camera gimbal is smooth, but does “jerk” a bit as you rotate it round during flight. It’s a minor complaint that may be best explained by the wind speed (possibly no fault of the design, just aggressive winds at higher altitudes). I’m not a movie maker or anything, but the footage so far is incredible. Just being able to put it up in the air to photograph your home and surroundings is worth it alone since years ago this would have required an actual helicopter. The included (3) batteries, charger, and case are greatly appreciated since you will only get ~25 minutes of flight on one charge. It’s amazingly small and I can already see taking it on vacation without any drama. In its bag, it’s no larger than a lunch-bag. In all, I have zero regrets as a new “drone pilot” (lol) it’s everything I wanted and more. Just be sure to follow the rules and you will likely get years of fun out of it. Highly Recommended!

This is my first drone, I have a friend who has a DJI Mini as well, and seeing him fly it, I figured I'd hop on board as well. The SE Mini 2 is a very good starter drone, comes with everything you need to get flying. There is a learning curve, and I didn't expect to be flying on the same day that I got it, but I did. The unit comes with a battery charger pack and three batteries – which go into the drone. The remote control unit has a built in battery that can charge your phone if need be, or you can turn that feature off. The joysticks unscrew and store into the RC for storage. It comes with adapter cables for different phones. And then the carry bag and a USB charge - for the battery pack. Flight controls are going to take time, and make SURE that you are in an open area, away from houses, power lines, trees, small children. The app is REQUIRED to operate this on your phone as you use it to initiate take off and landing. The app also indicates if you are cleared to fly it and luckily my area only has a 500 meter altitude limit. The controls are different per model, but on this – the left stick controls altitude and and yaw (which way the drone 'turns left or right') the right stick controls movement – pitch and roll (forward / backward – strafe left / right) And the sensitivity on this is JACKED – so keep that in mind while attempting to fly – go easy. Overall, if you are looking to get into the world of drones, this one won't break the bank, and get you flying in no time

Wow I was so super excited to get this mini drone. I am a novice to say the least so what matters most to me if ease of use and practicality. This drone came nicely packed from Best Buy however there was something loose inside causing some rattling. Still nothing was damaged. Inside the box you get the drone, controller, 3 batteries and some other charging cords etc that you may need. There is also a manual with a pamphlet and I’m getting old and appreciate that! Setting up is easy it requires downloading the DJI fly app and connecting it all together (controller/drone/app). Now this is why I think if you are a novice this might be a perfect drone to purchase to get the hang of flying before you upgrade to something else but I’m not sure you’ll ever need to or want to do that. Very easy to control and lots of preset features like one that does an auto panoramic shot from where you are standing. Also this thing is small and lightweight but had no issue on a windy day navigating even though I was worried. I really love this drone and I’m super excited I got it. I would highly recommend to anyone who is new to the drone world!

DJI is starting to feel like the Samsung of the Drone market, a drone for each budget. The Mini 2 SE takes the spot at the entry level of the DJI lineup. You can still find the Mini 2 and Mini SE for sale online or in markets outside of the USA, but on their official webpage, DJI US Store, the options are Mini 4 Pro, Mini 3 Pro, Mini 3, and Mini 2 SE. DJI’s naming scheme is straightforward at this point, but you would be forgiven if you didn’t realize that the Mini 2 SE came out in early 2023, while the 3 Pro and 3 were released in 2022 (4 Pro just “dropped” last month). Even though this is the case, the feature set is reflected by the model number and the higher the number the more features included. If DJI holds to their current naming scheme and feature list, next year should see the Mini 3 SE replace the Mini 2 SE.The SE seems to follow the “upgraded version” and also lose some features. However, the Mini 3/3 Pro/4 Pro really jump up to the next level with features, so the Mini 2 SE may remain in the portfolio for a longer period than the last SE model did. As the previous SE was based on the original Mini with a lower feature set, the Mini 2 SE follows the trend, however there are only 2 changes to note: the drop from 4K resolution to 2.7K and the 2.7K resolution loses the 60fps option; it does retain it at the 1080p resolution. And that’s it! The Mini 2 SE nearly the exact same drone feature set. The Mini SE before was missing some of the Quickshots, but the Mini 2 SE does not. Depending on your shooting needs, the drop from 4K to 2.7K is not very much and honestly, depending on the lighting conditions is not noticeable. And depending on the type of shooting you are doing the 1080p60 is more desirable when wanting to shoot footage at faster speeds of travel. But if you are using the Cinema Mode, 2.7K30 delivers excellent clarity. The key with any kind of photography is lighting and so that is going to be the biggest factor no matter the drone. So if you are just getting into capturing Drone footage and don’t want to get too crazy in cost, the Mini 2 SE is going to be the best option. The Fly More combo is really the best option as it adds the carry case, external charger, 2 extra batteries, triples the spare screws (6 to 18), triples the replacement blade set (1 to 3) and adds the propeller hold for transit/storage. Saves about $70 if purchasing separately. As for flight times, the max DJI says it can fly is for 31 minutes. This would be with near zero wind, Cinema Mode, and no obstructions. Real world I get 24 minutes. Distance is the same at 10km, but flying conditions and obstructions will determine how far you can travel due to battery life and remote signal transmission ie. wind, trees, and tall buildings are your enemy. I do want to note my first Mini 2 SE I could not get to connect to the Remote. It took a couple of days to get through all the steps with DJI to manually pair, but it was to no avail. I had to send my device directly back to DJI. About 6 hours after I dropped off the drone at my local UPS (DJI provided the return label) I had notification of my new unit being shipped with 2-day shipping. This one connected in mere seconds after unboxing as I have been accustomed to with other DJI drones. Not sure what happened with the first one, but I was glad of the great customer service from DJI. I am not sure where their after-sales support is located, but it was clear there is a time delay going via email. The Chat support was available when I was available though. I can highly recommend the Mini 2 SE.
