I started flying with a Phantom 4, worked my way up to a Mini 2, recently bought a Mini 3 Pro and now I’m very excited to be giving the Mini 3 a try! DJI Has always lead the way with Drone innovation, and these latest drones from them is no different! The mini line has always been widely known as the “beginner” line of Drones. I can tell you, the Min 3 is anything but a beginner drone. It brings along a lot of the features from the Mini 3 Pro at a more affordable price. The fly more kit included with this will also give you everything you need including extra batteries, a case, extra propellers, and a charger. Starting off, is the RC controller. This thing is absolutely amazing! I always hated fumbling around with my phone and misplacing cables, and loading apps and stuff on my phone whenever I wanted to fly my drone. Now all you have to do it turn the power on the controller and drone on and in about a minute or so you are good to go! The controller feels great in your hands and the display is bright and very easy to see in most conditions. The only time I’ve ever had a problem is if there is direct sunlight on the screen. It can make it a bit difficult to see finer details and obstacles that might be in your path. Usually, you can position your body so you are casting a little shade on the screen and you’re fine. As for the drone itself, I’m sure a lot of people will be comparing it to the Mini 3 Pro, and they are very similar with a few key differences. This one doesn’t have obstacle avoidance, and the max resolution is 4K at 30 frames per second, and you can’t shoot in D-Cinelike. Other than that, you won’t find much difference between the two. The flight time on these is also longer than the Pro version. I am always amazed at just how long you can fly these things before your battery runs out! They claim 38 minutes on the standard battery. If you didn’t know, those claims on every DJI drone are not what you will actually get. For the standard battery you are looking at about 25-30 minutes depending on usage and weather conditions. Which is still amazing! If you get the larger batteries, they claim 51 minutes and I think you would have no problem getting 35-40 minutes out of one of those. DJI drones have always been notoriously easy to fly, and this one is no exception. Even if you have never touched a drone in your life, you will be able to easily pick one of the up and learn to fly pretty quickly (just practice in a wide open space with no obstacles) I wont get into every feature of the drone (cause there are a LOT) but it has all of the Quick Shots like Dronie, Circle, Helix, Rocket, and Boomerang. It also has the true vertical video where the camera actually turns on its side which is great for making content for social media platforms. It’s a feature I thought was gimmicky when I first got it, but now I find myself using it all the time! The videos this drone makes are absolutely stunning! Even in lower light they look amazing! I almost always shoot in 4K 30fps, but there are other lower resolutions you can shoot in if you desire. The HDR adds a little extra oompfh to your videos as well giving them rich vibrant color! One other thing I absolutely love about this drone compared to the Mini 2 is that you can easily swap out filters and things on the camera (something that was a pain in the butt on the Mini 2) You easily twist them on and off. I would highly recommend getting a set of ND filters and possibly the wide angle and anamorphic set as well. It will take your videos to a whole new level! As far as the distance, that will vary greatly on your environment. I live in a fairly rural small town and I am easily able to fly this 2-3 miles away before I lose signal. If you are in a more urban environment, that can be reduced significantly depending on how much wireless interference there is. I could go on and on and on about how much I love this drone and the different features and things. All I will say is if you are on the fence, just buy it! You will be VERY happy you did! Sure, it lacks a few high end features that are only on the Pro version, but for the money, I guarantee you wont find a better more feature packed drone!

DJI makes fantastic cameras; in this case, they’ve made an excellent entry-level drone for hobbyists who want to improve their content creation or photography game. This kit includes a fancy carrying case, 3 batteries, a 3-battery charging kit, 3 packs of extra rotor blades, the Mini 3 itself, and the remote control, along with two cables (USB-C to USB-C and USB-A to USB-C). You can use almost any phone or tablet charger, but DJI sells some too. The DJI Fly app makes setup pretty easy - though you will want to set up your account on a larger device first, you can also use the remote control (it has a touchscreen interface and seems to be an Android-style device). On unboxing, you plug in the Drone, battery pack, and remote control - total charging time is very quick. The Drone itself has a protector for the camera + gimbal setup, which you should remove before powering up (I’m mentioning this because it’s not in any non-app setup documentation - it’s in the PDF manual). The Drone is ready in approximately 30-60 minutes after unboxing (depending on battery levels). The arms unfold to form the X shape and the remote control connects quickly and easily to the Drone. The Remote Control also handles all the firmware updates and such. When ready to put the Drone away, you re-fold the arms and tuck it away. The whole setup is about as small as a medium size coffee cup. It’s also super light. The entire set (including the extra batteries, charger, remote, and Drone) fits inside the carry case, which is about the size of a lunchbox. On your first flight, the Drone has a tutorial mode (skippable) that walks you through takeoff, landing, and the automated features. The Drone also conducts self-checks and lets you know if something is wrong (e.g. if the gimbal is stuck or if the compass needs calibrating). You can set the Drone for cinematic mode (it slows response) or sport mode (speedy response) on the remote control. Other easy-to-activate settings, like camera orientation and automatic flight (called QuickShots), are available on the screen. There are also two customizable buttons on the remote, as well as an easy “return to home” button if something goes wrong. You can also set the specifications for the flight in advance: flight ceiling, distance from home, etc. I regularly got about 30 minutes of flying time (more if I didn’t go for crazy maneuvers). The interface has every bit of info you need and want - showing you exactly how much battery life is left, the height, flight metrics, connectivity data, etc., making the more daring maneuvers more fun and accessible. Takeoff and landing are a breeze (automated for the most part). Beyond that, DJI’s interface makes safe flying super easy, which in turn means that it’s a lot easier to grab great shots. The 4K video in lower-light conditions was as spectacular as the bright-light conditions. Exciting shots are possible, even for newbies, and DJI offers a lot of insight into how to do all sorts of things with each kind of Drone (they do this on their other cameras, too, but Drone content is a different animal). My only note is that if you're both new to drone flying AND new to aerial photography and videography, give yourself a bit of grace while you learn the ropes. While you can get some really cool shots in the first few outings, the content you create will suffer if you don't work to gain experience on the flying side - fortunately, this is a great platform to learn on. The one thing missing for newbies is obstacle avoidance, but it’s not a dealbreaker as this is available in the Pro model. DJI delivered an excellent Drone in the Mini 3 to capture stories, videos, and photos of your town or nature from unique angles. Because of the care and attention put into the little details (like flight stability and easy-to-access cinematic modes) and big details (like battery life and image quality), exploring new ways to tell stories is easy and fun.

got the drone in the mail turned it on and flew for 5 mins then the rc remote wouldn't work. not worth it to buy one of these drones from ANY 3rd party buy from dji directly or your drone will be crap
