Drone malfunction
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This review isn't about the drone. This is about Best Buy themselves. I bought this drone literally 3 days ago and it makfunctioned, shot straight up in the shy whole in take off hover mode and no matter what I did with the remote it would not lower down, causing the drone to crash land and broke the 2 left arms. I have tried numerous times to both call the local best buy in Huntsville , AL and I keep getting transferred to the online store who keep telling me that I literally have no options because I didn't purchase their warranty, this is the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I am not trying to get money I want to exchange my now broken drone because of a malfunction and they are basically telling me they can't help me. Ridiculous.

Great Drone, but shop around.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s a nice drone, nice pictures and videos…. However for the price of $800+ bucks I expect more megapixels from a drone close to a $1000.

Great product bad customer service
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I loved the product but I was mislead on the warranty. Made a warranty claim and they cancelled my warranty and signed me up for an extended warranty that I have to pay $5 a month without explaining it to me. Super disappointed on the customer service. They also had me sign up for Best Buy total membership promising me warranty but only to find out that it’s a 20% off repair fees. Again really enjoyed the product but customer service made me not want to shop at Best Buy ever again.

The perfect drone for most
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The DJI Mini 3 is the perfect drone for most people. It's not perfect, but it also doesn't cost a fortune. I won't go deep into technical specs as you can read the spec section for that. But I will say that this Fly More combo really does provide you with everything you need. Drone, three batteries, case, and several extra sets of propellers. The case holds it all at seems well made. The battery life is very good as far as drone batteries go lasting 30+ minutes (an optional extended life battery can be purchased that gives you closer to 45 minutes but I don't feel the need for it). The drone itself feels well made while being insanely light weight. I also have the original Mini from a few years ago. I was amazed by how light that one was. The fact that even more tech could be added to this one and still keep it under 249g is incredible. This is important because keeping it under 250g means you don't have to register it (but you do still need your TRUST certification. Very easy to complete). The Mini 3 is a vast improvement over the original Mini. The camera sensor is bigger providing better sharpness & less digital noise (although it is still 12 megapixels). The battery life is better. And most importantly, it now connects to the controller using Ocusync 2 for a much better connection and longer range. For me, the best part of the Fly More kit is the included DJI RC controller with the built in screen. Keep in mind that if you purchase the basic Mini 3 kit you will only get the standard controller that you need to connect to your phone. This is a much bigger deal than you might think. Honestly, there were many times I didn't bother flying my original mini because it was a bit of a pain to connect the phone to the controller. But here, with this all in one controller that doesn't need the phone, it makes getting airborne so much faster. And the screen is large & easy to see even in daylight. I can't stress enough how big of a deal this is. Now for a few hundred more you can get the Mini 3 Pro. So what's the difference? Well, aside from some software changes, the main differences are that the Pro includes avoidance sensors and 48 megapixel still images compared to the 12 megapixels of the Mini 3 (the actual physical sensor size is the same though). Now how important these things are is for you to decide, but for most I suspect you don't need the Pro. Avoidance sensors are nice, but seeing as you should always have there drone in sight it shouldn't be an issue (never has been for me). As for the difference in megapixels this is not as big of a difference as you might think. And in certain situations the extra megapixels can be a down side. Adding that many more megapixels can be great but in low light it will actually increase noise. Plus, depending on what you plan to do with the footage you capture, 12 megapixels is all you need. For social media and content creation you would be hard pressed to need more. I should mention that with the Mini 3 you have the option to shoot JPEG & RAW for your stills. This is a big plus over the original Mini that only provided JPEG. Being able to shoot RAW and extract more detail and more latitude for editing in general is a big plus. With the Mini 3 you really don't have the ability to do much in the way of color grading with the video footage. This is saved for the higher end models. But again, most do not need this. Since getting the Mini 3 the weather in northern Minnesota hasn't been the best. However, even flying in wind that I never would have considered taking the original Mini out in the footage has been steady and I have had no issues controlling the drone. I've also had no signal losses. This is mostly due to the Ocusync system that is a vast improvement over the older wi-fi connection. So in my opinion, unless you have a specific reason for needing more megapixels, the option for color grading or the avoidance sensors I really can't imagine this not being a great drone for most. And if you are a content creator for social media, the small size and ease of use with the all in one controller will allow you the freedom to keep the drone with you and the speed in getting airborne to capture more of the footage you want. The Mini 3 will be with me a lot and will be a big benefit for my photography.

DJI mini 3, not pro, but just as great.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.DJI has been one of the main players in the drone scene. The DJI mini 3 is as advertised; a small, lightweight, and fun to fly drone. Out of the box you get the drone with a battery, the RC controller (With touch screen), a charger with two extra batteries, a USB-C to USB-C cable, a USB-A to USB-C cable, a mini screwdriver in the event you have to replace some damaged propellers, extra propellers, and it all comes inside of a convenient carrying case. (And some inserts on how to do everything). Before you begin, you'll need to charge both the drone and the controller. You may as well charge the extra batteries as well in case the firmware download goes longer than it should, leaving with you 5 minutes of flight time, might as well be prepared. Once you turn on the controller, you'll go through the set up process and firmware downloads. (You'll need to create a DJI account to fly the drone, it's convenient to do with the touch screen). I light that the thumb sticks are removeable and can be stored behind the controller itself as seen on the photo. This lowers the risk of them breaking. Once all is set and paired, you'll turn on the drone by pressing the power button once, and then pressing it again and holding it down until all the green lights light up. When you're in a nice clear area, you can press the launch button on the touch screen. The default control set up is kind of awkward. I didn't know until my second flight that you can change the layout. You have a good number of options in the controller setting screen from camera resolution, controller layout as mentioned, altitude max, etc... The controller itself has two dials, one dial controls the camera tilt, and the other controls zoom. It's easy to get used to almost immediately. There are also two triggers on the back that you can map. The best part is that once you're done flying, you can see what you recorded immediately on the touch screen. The legs on drone flex out when it's time to fly, and flex in the compact mode when it's time to pack it up. This is a great design in that it allows for greater portability. The batteries are graded to offer a run time of about 30'ish minutes of flight time. This is great considering you get three batteries in total. The drone is responsive, the screen gives you a great view of what you're capturing, it's light weight, portable, comes in its own carrying case. The only gripe I have is that the return to home button is hit or miss so far. It's only worked 2 out of the 5 times that I've tried it... It's kind of annoying since the return to home button is a great way to return when battery is low and you don't have time to expertly fly back down. All in all, excellent drone.

It may be the perfect starter drone
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this drone, but I’m not convinced that it is really awesome for photographers or media creation. If you are interested in learning to fly and focused on that as well as maybe grabbing an awesome photo or video or two that this is the perfect drone for you. The main reason I feel like this is more for the beginner that a content creator is the obstacle avoidance tech that is missing in this one compared to the pro version. When I am paying more attention to the content I can miss obstacles, which is why I think obstacle avoidance is a content creators friend most of the time. It is also missing follow me which is something that I like to use and the fact that it is missing is big for me. Honestly those two features are main two features that I feel like make or break this drone for people depending on why type of content creation you are into. Now for the rest, I’m not exactly what you would call a pro level content creation artist. I create content but I depend heavily on that auto mode, and for that this drone is everything that I need out of a drone. The videos look awesome, the photos are clear, and I am more than thrilled what can be captured with this. I have the remote controller with the screen and that is a such a better setup than using my phone. I used to be of the opinion that the smartphone was just such a smart way to not need a giant controller, however, I have changed my mind completely on that having used a full remote controller for a while. If you are just getting into it and don’t mind the dual use, using your phone for the controller screen is a great way to save a little money, but honestly, if you can I would absolutely recommend the fully dedicated controller. Multiple batteries are a little bit of a must as well, while this battery actually lasts longer than the pro, one battery is never enough fly time. So, all in all I can easily recommend this drone, I absolutely love it, for the right person. If you are just getting into flying drones and it is more about flying than content, than you will love this drone as it requires you to fly it. If you think you might use the follow me and obstacle avoidance; I would really recommend seriously considering the mini 3 pro versus just the mini as you may end up buying twice. I know that my kids want to get into flying drones and the mini 3 is the perfect starter drone for them (I wasted too much money on lesser drones to even try those first at this point). For a starter drone, this takes off, flies steady, and makes learning a breeze.

||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a great buy, but it lacks all of the features that the Pro has to offer. If all you are after is a point-and-shoot type of setup, then this is for you.

Mini Magic and Fun
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super excited to get my first drone. It’s a little intimidating at first, trying to understand all the functions, features, buttons, remote, batteries etc it was a little overwhelming. But after about 10 mins of reading, going through the tutorials, watching the videos my excitement came back. The DJI Mini drone is really small and feels very delicate. I guess it needs to be in order to fly. I am very surprise of the video and picture quality I was getting on the remote control display. Pro - The 3 batteries plus docking station charger is really useful. My kids wants to “play” more without having to wait for the battery to charge - Light and compact design make it easy to carry and bring around - Video and picture quality really good. I feel like a professional video producer - Remote control with screen display work really well. I dont like the idea have the RC connected to my phone in case someone was calling. - A lot of “how to” content and “expert advice” on the DJI Mini Con - Intimidating to start with all the buttons and lingo - No step by step to get started. ( need to go online to find) - Does get warm after using it for 20 mins. There might be concern if I use it at the beach some place with a lot of sun. Overall, I highly recommend the DJI Mini for anyone looking to get started or is in the market for a drone. Its simple to use and easy to understand. I cant wait to take this on family vacations and other outings.

Great for newcomers, but not much for the vets
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am attacking this review from 2 perspectives. The 1st is new user's, and the 2nd is upgrading from the Mini 2. If you are entering into the drone space, this is a fantastic model to purchase. The flight is very smooth, the battery and run time are top notch, and the built-in screen takes away much of the hassles of having to integrate your phone into the controller for each flight. The bill is impressive. I've already crashed it twice trying to stabilize, and besides a couple of scratches on the wings there has been no damage. I've had No name brand drone's crash and that was that period these are built to take a few hits. The controller fits perfectly into my hands. It's not too large, and the screen is just the right size that I can catch all of the details without feeling like I'm missing out. Getting from ground to air has been greatly simplified. Speaking of which, after all of the initial updates were completed, I was flying within 2 to 3 minutes. So far, out of the dozen or so flights I've taken, I have had no connectivity issues. Also worth noting is the GPS finds and attained signal faster than previous versions. Just my experience thus far. Charging times for all components is lacking. At this point with fast charging being so uniform, I would expect it to be faster. When you plug the charger into the battery pack of the fly more combo, it charges one battery at a time almost at trickle pace. If I recall, with my Mini 2 it would at least charge all 3 at once, so I could see who had the most power in case I wanted to quickly get back in the air. Not terrible as in all day, but definitely noticeable. Transferring the content from the drone to whatever editing platform you choose is still some of the best in terms of speed that I have come across. That has always been a gold factor. In terms of modes and shooting capabilities, this one is a dozing. Lots of fun shooting modes, aperture settings, and the inclusion of the vertical shooting will have content creators like myself testing our imagination limits to create optimal contact. It may be marked as a entry drone, but the shooting and the visual quality is anything but. In capable hands, or someone who has had a lot of practice, you can seriously create high quality content and be amazed that it came from such a small package. Just a note that if you used the high end battery coma you will have to register with the FAA as it will succeed the 249 g limit. Not a huge factor, but just worth noting. Battery is the last thing I'll touch on. You get every minute of that 38 minute runtime. That's only 7 minutes above the Mini 2 but 7 minutes in the air makes a huge difference. Loading and unloading the battery is also easier. No covers to remove or anything to unscrew, just squeeze 2 tabs and you're good to go. All in all, as a first time buyer, you can't go wrong with this drone. It has everything needed to get you up and going and used to how a drone flies. Now, as a mini 2 owner, I see the Mini 3 a bit differently. First off there are no differentiation in modes. It's the same old carried over from one system to the next. I see no advancements, or any improvements with enough to be notable. Secondly, and serves the most disappointment, the FPS for 4K. At this point there is no reason why this camera should not be able to record 4K 60 FPS. That is a low-end cell phone standard at this point, and to not have it as a standard for all drones, especially DJI, is very disappointing. The last is still a lack of two features that as technology has advanced should have allowed some iteration into newer drones; obstacle avoidance and a following feature. For the obstacle avoidance, I can somewhat understand but if you took the time to put in a downward sensor system for flying without a gps, it isn't a stretch to put in a basic obstacle avoidance for an entry-level drone. Understandably it is a cost feature so I get it but it is a letdown. Across all message boards and comments, including my own, adding a simple following feature was the biggest misstep of the Mini 2. With so many requests I thought that was a shoe end, but apparently it is just attached to the Mini 3 Pro. Once again, disappointing as it's another feature that I felt was lacking in the Mini 2. That being said, the design is nicer, the flight is a bit smoother, and there is longer flight time. Is that enough to purchase for an upgrade? Not in my opinion. So to summarize, if you're new to the miniseries and looking to buy a drone that will get your hands dirty and produce some great results, this is a definite pick up. But if you're wondering should you upgrade from a mini 2 to the mini 3, I can't recommend it as I can't find enough of a reason to make that move.

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Too many regulations, gps not accurate, let me take off but then it started to automatically fly away from me due to seeing itself in a restricted zone then the area it flew over was not a safe area to be in & was private property. Must have data hot spot running. I returned the defective unit & they charged a restocking fee so they've decided to resell defective products.
