The object avoidance was a big selling point for me, along with the RC controller. Don’t underestimate this drones capabilities from its size! The camera stability and clarity is worth it.

It breaks incredibly too easy. Extremely fragile. Battery dies too quickly as well, but the features on it are amazing!

The Mini 3 Pro Provides An Interesting Proposition

The DJI Mini 3 Pro falls into an interesting position in the drone market which is already dominated by DJI. The Mini 2 could regularly be had for $399 - $449. The next step up was the Air 2s for roughly $999. That’s a massive leap in financial commitment. The Mini 3 Pro goes for $909 with a superior controller to the Mini 2 and even the more expensive Air 2s. I am revolving this review around comparing these three drones because most consumers buying the Mini line from DJI are first time drone users looking at a cost effective entry point. That used to be an easy task, buy the Mini 2. Then, the Air 2s came out which blows the doors off a Mini 2 while still being under $1000, and now we have the Mini 3 Pro which closes the gap between the Mini line and the Air line. Here’s the comparisons: The Mini 3 Pro blows the Mini 2 out of the water as far as the drone technology itself is concerned. Better camera, flight dynamics, battery life, portrait mode, and a few other things that make it a better drone before we even talk about the remote. The gimbal on the Mini 3 Pro is excellent and a decent upgrade over its predecessor. It has improved tilt, roll, and pan. More freedom of movement results to steadier video. The really cool thing about the roll upgrade is the ability to rotate 90 degrees and take portrait pictures. This is a really cool feature when using content for social media. The optional display remote for the Mini 3 Pro is so crazy that it’s offered for the Mini line of DJI drones now. The Mini line of drones have always been a more watered down experience. A display remote was only offered for more high end experiences like the Mavic 2 Pro. Not anymore. Now, if you want to pony up your hard earned cash, you can have a high end remote experience with your Mini 3 Pro. It’s a great remote that literally just takes all the functions of your phone’s DJI app and integrates it for a more seamless experience. Now, in comparison to the Air 2s, the Mini 3 Pro begins to feel like an enigma. The Air 2s is a superior drone as far as technology and it reflects that in its price. It costs roughly $100 more, but it has an inferior remote to this Mini 3 Pro kit. So, this is where you as a consumer needs to make a decision: Do you want to save $100 and have a better remote, but a lesser drone? Or do you want a better drone, pay $100 more and have a not as refined remote experience? Obviously, this will be up to you and what your goals are from a drone. The biggest step up with the Air 2s is its camera. It features a 1 inch sensor which provides a step up in video/photo quality, especially in lower light situations. Something that shouldn’t be forgotten either, is that the Mini 3 Pro is more portable drone, and sits below the 250 gram threshold where you don’t need to register it to the FAA. Hopefully this makes your decision a bit easier. It is an easy recommendation to buy this Mini 3 Pro kit over its predecessor. However, when it comes to the Air 2s you need to decide what is most important to you. As a product, I can recommend the Mini 3 Pro.

      Dear customer,

We appreciate your feedback with us and we're deeply sorry to read about the inconvenience. DJI Mini 3 Pro is designed without a built-in fan, which can effectively reduce power consumption to make the flight time longer. Additionally, the new structural design with propellers that have been adjusted for a more aerodynamic flight, which allows the drone to use the wind generated by the propellers to dissipate heat, ensuring good heat dissipation effects during the flight.
If the drone stays in standby mode for a long time, its temperature may continuously rise. Rest assured that the DJI Mini 3 Pro comes with a built-in temperature control system that the drone can detect the current temperature and decide whether to automatically power off to prevent overheat.

In my opinion (keep in mind I am NOT a professional nor a licensed drone pilot) this version of the mini is far more flimsy than its predecessor….the mini 2 was an absolute beast….furthermore the controller is a bit overhyped….if it’s not something you absolutely HAVE to have then just stick with the normal controller.

My luck everything worked, flies great. But as soon as I started it up the first time, the gimbal didn’t move and screen says gimbal is stuck. It moves freely by hand and will not recalibrate or reset. Taking it to geek squad. We will see what happens. But I tried everything recommended on you tube for stuck gimbal. Can’t say I would recommend it to a friend as of today

      Dear customer,

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused. When a “Gimbal Stuck” warning is shown in the DJI Fly App (error code 40002), debris is stuck in the gimbal. (For example, the aircraft was powered on when it was folded, or the gimbal protector was not removed.)
In this case, please check whether the debris is stuck in the gimbal. Please remove the debris, restart the aircraft, and then recalibrate the gimbal. If the issue persists, please contact our support via the below link (https://www.dji.com/nz/support/repair) and they will help you check the problem.

The one star is for Best Buy customer service in handling my issue. Drone itself was not able to fly in several areas I went to because of restrictions, these included my own house, 2 other family members and also a friends house. It also would not fly about certain ceiling heights at 2 places friends ricks climb so it was impossible to capture them on the side of the mountain as they were climbing. Just certainly not going to work for me. No disclosure about any of this and yet I returned it and Best Buy still finds it acceptable to charge me the restocking for for something that was completely out of my hands and rendered the drone a useless piece of equipment to myself.

I wont suggest anyone buying this product in best buy. In the name of restocking fee they charged me 15% when i returned the product. how can you experience a product without opening the package and after opening if you even if you use for 1 day there will be restocking fee which is not fair. I have returned the product because US putting more regulations on drone flying and near my house i cannot even fly a drone because of restricted zone and the best buy team is not ready to hear my challenges and why I am returning the product

First off DJI is a terrible company for customer service. I had nothing but issues with how they handled things. Secondly, the drone camera was mediocre... it really cannot handle video panning and is quite laggy. Still pictures are OK but my iPhone can do a better job. Flying it was fun- when I could. I had to go through so many loopholes to actually get the thing off the ground. Overall not a great experience.
