These Quick Mounts are EVERYTHING!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.DJI continues to prove it’s a high quality brand for on-the-go media equipment. This Osmo Action 4 4K action camera adventure bundle offers many convenience factors like quick magnetic mounts, voice commands, quick record button, custom settings, and much more. The camera itself offers awesome video quality with many resolution and frame rate settings to choose from alongside slow-mo and time lapse options. I highly recommend the adventure bundle for all of its extra accessories. IMAGE QUALITY The Action 4 camera offers stunning images and videos. I tested this out in a lot of the focal lengths for both video and photo. I don’t usually go for slow-mo video, but since this camera has 4K/120FPS & 1080P/240FPS, I had to see what it was like to film my dog running around. It was great! I’m going to use slow-mo more often to film my dog. I also took some pictures in low lighting and from what I can see, the images are sharp (given that I was very still). The high quality low-light photos are due to the image sensor that comes in at 1/1.3” - impressive for such a tiny camera! STORAGE CAPACITY As with any higher quality settings, it’s going to take up more room on the card. The display does a great job of letting you know how much storage is left on each setting. For reference, I am using a 128GB card and have about 116GB free, so with that in mind, here are some examples of what I’m getting for remaining storage on Video mode. 4K 48-120FPS: 1h 59m 4K 24-30FPS: 2h 31m 2.7K 48-60FPS: 2h 31m 2.7K 24-30FPS: 3h 28m 1080P 200-240FPS: 2h 19m 1080P 48-60FPS: 3h 5m 1080P 24-30FPS: 4h 38m FIELD OF VIEW & IMAGE STABILIZATION I use both horizontal and vertical filming to accommodate multiple video platforms and with the magnetic mount accessories, it’s very simple to switch between both filming orientations (more on accessories below). I find that for vlogging I’m partial to the Standard (Dewarp) focal length which is equivalent to 14mm on photo and 15mm on video. If I’m in a scenario with a bit more action, I will use the wide or ultra wide field of view and use any combo of RockSteady, RockSteady+, or HorizonSteady. RockSteady+ digitally zooms in to account for movement in the image. In most cases, I’m going to use at least RockSteady, because without any kind of stabilization, moving scenarios simply need the stabilization. If I’m just going to set up the camera and walk away like for a timelapse, then I’d feel comfortable turning off stabilization to get the full field of view. Speaking of the in-camera stabilization features, the HorizonSteady feature is very cool. I am able to run around with my dog while filming and the horizon line will stay, as named, steady. I can see this feature being super useful for people who are going on extreme adventures (surfing, cycling) but it really is useful even for someone like me who walks around a lot at events and theme parks. ACCESSORIES I am very impressed with the accessories that this bundle comes with. Not only does it come with 3 batteries, but it has a neat little charging case for the batteries! It’s so convenient to have a dedicated charger for the batteries as well as a good place to store them on-the-go. Let’s talk about these great magnetic mounts. With my old action cam, I had to spend time screwing or unscrewing the base from the mount to remove the camera from the housing, but the Action 4 comes with magnetic “click-on” mounts that are so easy to use! Just make sure that it really clicks down. No more messing around with the screw piece unless you want to change the mount piece all together. Now I can simply unclip from the mount mount and flip the camera to the vertical position and it just clips right into the side mount. So simple and pretty much hassle free. The extendable handle reaches almost 5ft tall. I’m a little bummed that it doesn’t turn into a tripod, but it does have a threaded mount at the bottom which is useful. BATTERY LIFE The battery life seems to be okay. I’ve gone from 100% to 59% in 3 hours of intermittent use. The battery case fits neatly in my camera bag so I’m not worried about running out of juice at an event. I did read that this product works well in cold temperatures, which is great for those that need it, but I’m in Texas where summer feels never ending. I am worried about my devices overheating, but that’s not unique to this DJI action cam - I have to look out for any of my camera devices. TWO DISPLAYS I always appreciate a camera display that tells me how much storage and battery I have remaining so I’m pleased that this DJI action cam has that info in the top corners of both front and rear displays. I really like that the front display is touchscreen. I like having the “selfie” camera so I can easily switch it up while vlogging and not lose track of the viewfinder, but if that’s not for you, just turn it off in the settings. I bet it saves some battery if the front display is off, but I use it too much to turn it off. SETUP & SETTINGS The one thing that took a little time to set up (maybe 20 minutes?) is the app download and firmware update. The camera sounds/beeps are pretty loud by default so I went into the device settings to mute everything. I noticed that the sounds defaulted back to “high” when I updated the firmware. Not sure what other settings would get reset when updating firmware, but that’s something to keep in mind. I suggest doing all the app work/ firmware updates before messing with the settings too much. There are certain unique settings like SnapShot, Voice Control, and Custom Settings. Custom settings are so convenient to set up and I love that I can add any of these to the quick select button on the side of the camera. Set up to 5 custom settings with any combination of video resolution and frame rate as well as photo mode. SnapShot allows you to push the record button from the off position to quickly start recording. The only thing to keep in mind with this setting is that the camera will turn off once you stop recording. Voice Control is hit and miss. There are specific voice commands like Start Recording, Stop Recording, Take Photo, and Shut Down. It picked up my voice like 70% of the time. It’s super convenient to be able to say “take photo” while holding the camera out on the extended rod, but it doesn’t work unless I’m loud. It also doesn’t work if you say “Take A Photo”, you have to say “Take Photo” for it to work. DJI MIMO APP I’m on Android, so I had to download the DJI Mimo app from their website since it’s not available in the Play Store. The app is able to live preview what your camera is capturing so it can be super useful if you want to use it as a remote or monitor. I was also able to download photos and videos from the DJI action cam directly to my phone. Unfortunately you can’t really bypass the app setup as the action camera itself will only let you skip that step 5 times. OVERALL The DJI Osmo Action 4 is an incredible action cam and the Adventure Bundle is the way to go since it comes with extra batteries and a charger. I’m so excited to take this camera hiking next month when it gets cooler. I can tell the ultra wide field of view is going to capture so much of the scenery. Small but mighty, the DJI Action 4 is an excellent choice for an action camera.

The best action camera I have had yet
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Leave it to DJI to consistently listen to their customers feedback and continue to produce products that are cutting edge. As a long time DJI user with several of their products, I am always happy and excited to get the teaser emails from them suggesting a new product is right around the corner. The Action 4 was tops on my list due to the larger sensor size and boasting better low light results. Low light capability being the only reason I have never been a huge fan of action cameras before. Is the low light capability perfect? Not by any means. Is it better than my previous action cameras? Without a doubt. This camera utilizes a backside illuminated stacked 1/1.3 inch sensor. The same one that is found in a few of the newer DJI drones, including the fantastic Air 3. In a nutshell, having a stacked sensor allows different tasks to be performed by each layer, as opposed to all computing power being done by one sensor, therefore creating a more efficient and capable sensor for today's 4K high frame rate demands, as well as in low light scenarios. The grain in shadows is very controlled and as someone who is a stickler for grainy footage, I haven’t seen any action camera perform in low light like the DJI Action 4. You can now even shoot at 4K 120fps, which is crazy! Couple that with the fact that you can shoot in 10 bit D-Log M color space and you have a modern action camera that can produce stunning results. If you don’t want to edit or color grade your footage later in post, you certainly do not have to, as the standard color space and shooting modes also produce rich colors and beautiful footage that can easily be shared immediately on social media without the need for any extra editing. If you like to edit your videos in post, or match the footage up with another DJI product, such as one of their stellar drones, shooting in the native 10 bit D-Log M color space will give you more dynamic range to play with in both highlights and shadows. Next up would be the mounting system and accessories. All excellent. I absolutely love the magnetic quick release clips. This enables you to shoot in landscape or portrait mode quickly and easily. To make it even better, the mounts are compatible with the other guys mounting system and accessories, so if you have any of those laying around, you are good to go. Bonus! The kit I received came with a protective frame that is also compatible with landscape and portrait shooting. It is very quick and easy to install and adds just another layer for peace of mind if you were to bump or drop the camera. I also received the extension pole and the three-battery case, which houses and charges all of the batteries at once. More excellent design choices by DJI. The extension pole is quick release and there is no need to fumble around with any tension screws. You simply pull it open and push it shut. It feels stout and well made, so I can foresee it lasting a very long time. On the bottom of the extension pole they have thankfully included standard tripod mount threads. This will most certainly come in handy if you choose to shoot any stationary time lapse videos. I do however wish that DJI would have included small tripod legs with this kit. Thankfully I had some third party 4.5” aluminum tripod legs that work perfectly. I also had a third party (action camera) three axis gimbal laying around, so I charged it up and tested it with some amazing results. Using the internal stabilization on a gimbal makes for some buttery smooth footage. If you go a step further and shoot at 60fps or higher, it is literally so smooth you can get cinematic looking footage with this camera easily. That said, you do not need a gimbal to get smooth footage. The internal stabilization modes, including HorizonSteady and RockSteady 3.0, are simply the best I have tried to date. The dual touch screens are also very responsive and look absolutely stunning, even outdoors on bright sunny days. All of the swipe features are available on both sides of the camera making it very easy to manipulate in various situations. The stereo microphones that are built into this camera can produce great results. The sound is crisp and clear and there is even a built-in wind filter. This camera even has a front facing color temperature sensor that makes your recorded footage match more clearly what you are seeing as you are shooting. As a photo and video geek by trade, I highly appreciate the addition of this useful feature. It essentially makes editing your videos that much quicker since you don’t need to worry about white balance as much. This also makes shooting in standard color modes more precise color wise. With its stellar performance and picture quality in both photo and video modes, plus a host of accessories to match your style of shooting, including ND filters, mounting options, and so much more, the DJI Action 4 is capable of being a camera you can and should take everywhere. It is perfect for anyone who wants to capture amazing footage of their adventures. For all of these reasons, I can highly recommend this brilliant camera.

Fit for all actions!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The DJI Osmo Action 4 is the latest iteration of DJI’s popular line of action cameras. And after using it while hiking and doing some light outdoor fun activities with my dogs, I’m really glad I upgraded from my 4 year old action cam. If you are in the market for a no-nonsense dependable rugged camera, this should be one of the top choices. And having the “Adventure bundle” I believe is a must-have. The design and build is what’s expected from DJI. The camera, frame, mounting accessories everything feels premium. As typical, the camera is waterproof up to 60ft (18m) without a case (which can be increased to a whooping 186ft (60m) using a separate case) so that suited me for all the diving activity I ever plan to do. The camera came with 3 batteries, a battery case (which also doubles as an USB power bank when in a pinch), 2 quick-release magnetic adapter mount, a curved adhesive base, a protective frame, and finally a 5-ft (1.5m) extension rod. Among them, I believe the extension rod, 2 batteries and the battery case are not included in the standard bundle. More importantly, these accessories are compatible with at least the Action 3 camera. As for me, this is my first DJI action cam (all my previous “heroic” activities are captured by the other one). Since I upgraded from a fairly old camera, I found DJI Action 4 to be easy to get used to. Most of the things are well thought out and pretty intuitive. I love the magnetic mount system - it’s something that once I got used to I had difficulty getting back to my old gear (no more “thumb-screwing” whenever I needed to move the camera). And for vertical capture, the protective case comes with another magnetic mount position. At first I was a bit afraid how it’ll hold up over rough terrains when I was capturing some off road driving, but once I figured out how to make a secure latch/lock there was very little wobble. And even when it did vibrate a bit, the Rocksteady+ came into view (albeit sacrificing some FOV angle). Next comes the batteries which charge up really really fast (when of course I had a fast charging brick at hand - unfortunately no charger is included, only a USB-C cable) - this is a game-changer for me. I was getting 2 hours+ when using Rocksteady+ with 4k30, and could charge up in a jiffy when I forgot to take my battery case (DJI claims 80% in 18 minutes, and I concur). Furthermore, DJI claims the camera is deep-freeze resistant - I haven’t been able to test that out yet, but hopefully it’ll hold up in the upcoming skiing season. Next comes the camera designs - in particular the dual touchscreens. My previous camera had a monochrome LCD-type front display which was handy, but now with the full color touchscreen, a whole new way to shoot and interact with the video opened up. Gone are the days when I had to dismount the camera from its base to change some video settings. Now most of that I can do from either one of those touchscreens. Speaking of interactions, the menu and controls are well laid out - it was a new system for me but I was able to figure out most of the stuff after a few shoots (and for more in depth the DJI Mimo app has a lot of helpful tutorials, and finally you have YouTube 🙂). From a video quality perspective, I think it’s at the same level as it’s competitor. DJI has a distinct “flavor” to it which I think is like an acquired taste. I saw the difference in color and exposure immediately when I looked at my first footage, but after a while, and with some customization I have found a good blend. I don’t do a lot of post-processing color correction, but for interested people there’s the 10-bit D-log M color mode that opens up a ton of possibilities. Be sure to check some example videos etc. from creators to check if that suits your taste. Now for my gripes: the companion DJI Mimo app is not available in Google Play (at least when I’m writing this). I had to sideload the app by downloading an .apk file from the DJI webpage, which raised my eyebrows. I’m not sure what’s the story here, but that’s what I found (it’s available in the Apple App Store though). I was very skeptical, since it opens up a vulnerability in Android, and I consulted a number of forums to confirm. Once it’s installed and set up it has been smooth sailing. The second issue is - this annoying notification that pops up to activate the camera with the Mimo app. And of course for the first day it was a major pain in the back, because the app could not be found in the Google Play Store. It left a sour taste in my mouth. All in all, I’m really enjoying using the camera. I have already filmed a few hikes I’ve done, and mounted it on my St Berdoodle to capture some very funny videos in the Oregon coast. It stood up well and did its job with ease. Highly recommended.

Adventure Combo Missing Key Items
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Open box item in "good" condition, no items missing was missing both magnetic mounts as well as both thumb screws and the protective cage. DJI refused to help and It is an hour drive back to the store so this open box item will end up choosing me more than a new one would have. Way to go Bestbuy and DJI. It was your typical crappy experience from both of you.

Extreme Action Camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The DJI Osmo Action 4 4k camera continues DJI's reputation of creating high quality products that offer a great value at a good price. The adventure bundle is quite impressive upon inboxing as you receive 3 batteries with a charging case that can charge and store the batteries. The package also includes a action horizontal-vertical protective frame, a quick release adapter mount a mini quick release adapter mount, a action curved adhesive base (can be attached to a helmet), 2 locking screws, a type C usb cable, a extension rod that can be mounted to a tripod, a action lebs hood and a anti slip pad. You will also find some paperwork as well as a DJI sticker. The set-up process is quite easy if you follow the on screen directions. You are required to download the DJI app in order to activate the camera however that is not a problem because the app allows you to remotely control the camera. Once the SD card is installed you are ready to go. The Osmo action 4 has quite a large sensor that allows you to capture footage at a high quality regardless of the lighting. The low light imaging is quite impressive as the footage was very clear when I took the camera out an early morning bike ride and I assumed the footage would not be great because of lighting but I was glad to be proven wrong. The color performance of the footage also allows you to keep great quality upon editing. If you are into snowboarding or skiing the camera is able to with stand temperatures up to -4 F while allowing you to record for 150 minutes. The camera records at 120 frames per second with an ultra wide 155 degree field of view. The stabilization is also unmatched as the footage was smooth even when running with the camera. DJI also indicated the stability control works even with full 360 degree rotations. You have the ability to record time lapse or slow motion videos as well as take pictures. The camera itself has a viewfinder on the front and a touch screen on the back. You also have the ability to view the camera on the app via your phone. I am excited to continue using the DJI Osmo Action Cam 4K as DJI has hit it out of the park with another great product. I'm excited to continue to capture high quality footage with this camera and my DJI drone for years to come.

Impressive Action Camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The DJI Osmo Action 4 4k Action Camera Adventure Bundle is a pretty sweet option for folks who want a good-quality, durable, portable, action camera. I have been impressed. This camera is used in multiple ways, including: hiking, camping, kayaking, motorcyling, off-roading, and (planned but not yet) snow skiing. I have tested it extensively and am very pleased. Connecting to the DJI app on your phone is easy and quick. This makes it super easy to edit photos and to transfer them to your primary mobile photo albums. Low-light performance is particularly strong, especially for this genre of camera. The editing software also offers useful enhancements, should you be so inclined. Color and image quality top-notch. I appreciate that I don't get nearly the "fish-eye" look that you get from some similar products. Beyond that color, the color gamut seems true to the eye and helps enhance the overall appearace of photos and video. Battery life has been fantastic. I can use it over extended periods without even swapping the battery, but I REALLY appreciate the fact this pack includes three batteries and a portable battery case to keep them topped off. I feel confident taking this setup on any trip and wish I'd had it earlier this year when we toured Europe. Video is steady and seamless. You don't feel jerked around while watching video from the DJI Osmo Action 4. It's just a nice camera that does a really nice job. Of course, the Adventure Bundle comes with a variety of useful accessories, including: * Osmo Action Horizontal-Vertical Protective Frame, * Osmo Action Quick-Release Adapter Mount (this is also magnetic, which makes it easier to use), * Osmo Action Quick-Release Adapter Mount (Mini), * Osmo Action Curved Adhesive Base, * Osmo 1.5m Extension Rod, * Osmo Action Lens Hood, and * Osmo Action Anti-Slip Pad. My only minor gripe is that there is no onboard memory at all. You can't take any photos without a memory card, and the package doesn't include even a basic micro SD card. So count on spending a little extra money for a memory card. But the good news is micro SD cards are pretty cheap now. Overall, this is a very nice action camera with a useful accessory pack. Overall, I love this little guy.

DJI Osmo Action 4 is the way to go.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used a few DJI products so I was familiar with the quality that was to be expected out of the company. This camera bundle is no exception. The package includes 3 batteries and a charging case that holds/ charges the batteries. It also includes a few other add ons like a protective frame, a quick release adapter mount, cables and a extension rod. The batteries last quite a while from my experience. It boasts being able to record at -20 degrees c, and while I thankfully had a chance to try to use it at that temp it's supposed to get 2.5 hrs of normal battery life. The Osmo action 4 can record in 4k/120fps and has an ultra wide field of view at 155 degrees. The Osmo has a touch screen on front and back of the device which is really cool. Setup was easy and self explanatory. Settings are easy to get to and I still haven't made my way around all the settings yet. It uses extremely strong magnetic mounts on the bottom and side for easy mounting on metal devices. I used the DJI app on ios to connect the camera and I would recommend it as it has more options than just fiddling around with the camera itself. It makes setup an even easier process. I've used this camera in several different ways. I followed my kids and dog around on their bikes and recorded them zooming around as well as I've taken some photos. When videoing I used the Rocksteady and Rocksteady+ setting. These made me running around chasing my kids extremely smooth, like major motion picture smooth. I'm really impressed. I also tried out slow motion, which looks extremely cool on playback on a 4k tv. The sound quality the Osmo picks up also sounds really great on playback. Photos and video look amazing from this device. All in all this is an amazing action camera and has a ton of uses with many different options to choose from for everyone. I think this camera bundle is well worth it and I highly recommend it!

DJI Continues to Impress with the Action 4
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.DJI without a doubt has learned their lesson from the days of the DJI Osmo Action 2. When the Action 3 came out I was thrilled. It performed better, had additional features, a better mounting system, and truly came to market as a competitive product. The Osmo Action 4 continues that mentality adding onto the feature set and success of the Action 3. First let's talk Battery. Now the Batteries from the action 3 are compatible with the Action 4. Thats huge. Why? Batteries are expensive but DJI understands their customer base and the last thing we want to do is have an older model camera that doesn't allow for interchangable batteries. Secondly, fast charging. You can charge this battery insanely fast. Testing it I was able to drain a battery throw it into the charger and unplug 30 minutes later and I had something around 85 percent battery back. Do you understand how key that is. Picture this... you are out in the Rockies skiing or snowboarding, you drain your 3 batteries with all the awesome footage you've captured from shredding down the mountain. So 3 hours of footage but now a storm has rolled in. You gotta get this on film. How? Dead batteries. Go to the lodge plug it in and have lunch. 45 minutes to an hour later your batteries are GOOD TO GO. That's huge. Good on DJI Sensor talk - Tech Geeks rejoice 1/1.3 Sensor is much larger with a 2.8 aperture. Why do we care. This camera is beyond impressive in low light now. The camera even knows (if enabled) to enable low light mode and reduces noise. Its a MASSIVE difference now from its predecessor. If you record in lower light this is a game changer for the Action series. Temperature tests. The Action 4 continues to be able to function in higher heats and lower climates. I haven't been able to test in the field in the Rockies skiing just yet but throwing this thing in a freezer for an hour seemed to have no effect on its performance. Direct heat inside a car - same result handled it like a champ. Overall I can't say enough about DJI's impressive continuation of the Action line and if you are looking for a perfect gift or perfect action camera this is the product go-to!

Sleek Camera, Great Video and Amazing VERSATILITY
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The DJI Osmo Action 4 Adventure Combo Action Camera is a very cool gadget that is easy to accommodate any outing. This camera has Ultra High Definition recording and a 2.25 inch screen size with a very responsive touchscreen. The black color and waterproof feature give it a sleek look and make it very versatile. I was very nervous about the waterproof feature but I used it without any issues. The action pack comes with adapters and accessories for almost all occasions. The video quality and field of vision is very good as is the stability of the video. The three batteries give you a ton of recording time and keeps you prepared for all occasions so you don't get cut off. The adapters that come with it allow you to connect it to most things and positions. I mainly use it when i go biking and the footage is a little jumpy but i'm biking on trails and digitial stabilizer works wonders. It is easy to setup, easy to edit the video and transfer the video. I really enjoyed using it and if you have an active lifestyle it is a nice addition for the memories.
