Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the Osmo Action Camera's video quality, ease of use, and stabilization. Many also appreciate the front screen and its compact size, along with the waterproof capabilities and competitive price. However, some users noted limitations with the zoom functionality and occasional connectivity issues with the app. A few also mentioned the camera's tendency to overheat in certain conditions and its less-than-ideal low-light performance.

Sadly I had to leave a bad review. I have a 6 foot pool. I bought this I want to go snowboarding, use it on the lake and a bunch of other things. But I shoot a lot of footage underneath water. And it was not underneath the water for more than I would say at most 20 seconds. Now mind you again I have a 6 foot pool. I didn’t even get to the bottom and it leaked everything was shut right. I thought maybe I just got a defective product but after reading many reviews on Google this is a known problem.

The video quality is great but the delay is so noticeable. It has over a second delay when filming.

Decent action camera. Found it to be a little difficult to figure out, but once I did, it worked fine.

I have had dozens of action cameras and the only reason I bought this was because of the front screen. Well, unlike my GoPro HERO 7 Black, this camera is not worth $349! The front screen if wet is not view-able rendering it useless in the wild. Aside from being way heavier than I thought, the cropping on the stabilization cuts down your field of view almost 25% which is ridiculous and a huge loss of what I was trying to capture. Did I mention you have to register the camera, download an APP that hardly works and had to call support to get connected before you can even use this device on your vacation? Terrible user experience and the customer support was horrendous! DJI is a Chinese brand that I feel is just trying to stir the pot with the drone business tanking. Trying to copy GoPro and a bad attempt at best with this camera. Just trying basic photos was a challenge even with Auto turned on, shadows and poor clarity. If you really like the brand DJI, wait for their 3rd or 4th launch if they get that far, this camera is going back for sure.

This product worked great for a little while, the first few use's. Then would not turn on. I am in process of calling DJI for a replacement or to be fixed. Will re review if customer service does not honor their product. Issue is I don't use it a lot, I bought it almost a year ago and used it four times.

I’m surprised to see that even though most of the reviews compare this camera to a GoPro, none mention the fact that it is an outdoor camera that can’t meet the basic outdoor camera needs that a GoPro can. You cannot turn the sound off on this camera, and even on the lowest setting loud beeping occurs when it is used. Don’t plan on taking any photos or videos of wildlife with this camera, they’ve all panicked and fled the second I’ve pressed record. Also, all of the “action” videos of my sons on the obstacle course or at the petting zoo are 5 second clips of them standing there distracted and staring at the camera after the blaring sounds occur. I’m past the return period for this camera, it now stays permanently mounted on my bike while my GoPro 4 (yep, the ancient camera is better suited for outdoor use) goes on the hikes and family adventures with us.

For the most part it worked perfectly, but after i went scuba diving it shut off. Water was able to get inside the battery compartment and corrode it. Till that moment I had owned it only a couple months. Not sure what happened. Could not return because it was past 30days.

Great product while it worked. The second time I went underwater the camera flooded and never worked again. Thankfully DJI honored their warranty and a replacement is on its way.

I bought this camera with much anticipation since DJI makes great drone cameras that work well. I expected this to be the same. It was terrible with the top SD card inserted. I took it back and got a replacement thinking that it may be a lemon. The second camera that I got was just as bad. Thought that it might be computer settings but my computer plays all of my DJI drone videos (4K) without hesitation. I have decided that either I got two lemons or they are just crap. I'm not familiar with Go Pro but I have a feeling that the Hero 7 is probably a better camera. Couldn't be worse

I wanted to love it, unfortunately DJI should stay with drones and gimbals. Can't jump into water with it, not durable.

It says its waterproof but it is not. Do not trust and do not buy if you don't want to waste your money. I tried calling the company a few months behind and they tried to get me to mail it to them and pay for the pieces needed after water got in and damaged my camera. It's supposed to be waterproof so it shouldn't be my fault that ot got damaged. I barely ever used it and it got damaged

    Actually pretty good...

Not sure why people don't like this action camera... So far my experience has been great... 1st off yes you do have to activate it with the DJI Mimo app the process was simple and here is what I found out as I tried a couple times to activate it as well you have to be on the same Wifi as the camera I have both 2.4 and 5 GHz if they are not both on the same Wifi name it will not activate meaning both your phone or whatever device you are using and the camera both have to be on the same wifi name... when I did this activated with no issues... Then I shut the camera off and connected back to my iPad 4 mini and using the Mimo app making sure they are both on the same Wifi name told me there was an firmware update and I let it go... took about 1 minute to update... the camera works flawlessly. I am actually going to spend more time typing this review then it took me to activate and update the firmware on the camera once I figured out both need to be on the same Wifi connection. I have the Hero 7 Black as well and the Osmo Action works just as good... the front facing camera is nice to have if you are taking selfies/VLog but know that it is not touch sensitive but it is nice to see what you are actually filming, I think that GoPro might look into this as well just my opinion, but I also got good at filming myself with the GoPro just making sure it was positioned right. The RockSteady is just that rock steady and works great as well... I was running around my back yard with my dog and it did not even look like I was running and jumping... works just as good as HyperSmooth in the GoPro. I am just an average guy that likes tech stuff one of those that has to have the latest new gadgets that are out I am not an expert by any means that said...I will keep the Osmo Action and use it along with my GoPro 7 Black and it is 50.00 dollars cheaper so I would say buy it... watch the YouTube videos about it 1st if you wish to see if it is for you either way Action or GoPro you can't go wrong. I should also add this when I 1st started using the Osmo Action and messing around with it trying to figure it all out I did not have a SD card inserted and it got very hot once I put the SD card in it was normal... I guess it kept trying to access/read a card that was not there... Just an FYI
