You know there's a cheaper alternative which is the Skylab gimble. This thing was bulky and huge.

Hello Overpriced. Although we can't comment on other companies' products, we can say that the Osmo Mobile provides a user friendly and ergonomic experience without compromising on weight or price. Sorry you felt it was too large for your applications. DJISupport

So I was never able to get this to work with any Android phone due to it not allowing you to create an account. So I will be returning the two I purchased for my Nephew and myself. My phone is a Note 8 and LG V20, my Nephew's phone is a S7. Pretty current phones and DJI's app is just terrible. They announced a new version coming out the end of the month that is much improved and way cheaper.

I purchased the DJI Osmo Mobile prior to attending Game 7 of the 2016 World Series to be used in conjunction with my iPhone 7. The gimbal failed over and over, causing the motors to release, and the phone to dump to the side. I had to continuously reset the device in order for it to start working again. Within 2-3 minutes, it would fail again. I returned it to the store and paid a little more money for he OSMO.

I have a Samsung Note 5 phone and when I attached it the phone leaned heavily on one side so I could never use the product. Looks like its only made for smaller phones like an iPhone. I guest the higher end version would be better to use. This model didn't work for me.

I bought this for a vacation. Still unsure if I'm happy to the purchase as I didn't use that often during the trip. I ended up just taking videos/photos on my phone on the fly instead. Because of the need to screw the phone in, calibrate, etc. and walk around with basically a joystick it can make it cumbersome to whip this out and use it while traveling or just out and about. You would have to make a concerted effort to set things up and shoot video/photos with it. What I'm saying is if you are more used to just taking ad-hoc photo/video, you might be dissapointed or find it collecting dust. For example if you're using your phone to navigate while traveling, then stop to take photos, you have to take 5-10 minutes each stop to get setup, calibrate, launch the app, etc. Not the best product for these situations. That said, the results are great. Panoramas are a little weird but okay. You may have to invert the joystick settings to move things around - otherwise you may be confused at first.

IF YOU DON"T OWN AN IPHONE THIS IS A MUST READ

In the past I have always regarded Dji as a great innovative company. I presently own an OSMO and an INSPIRE. Both of which I truly like very much and Dji has worked to improve the software constantly on the INSPIRE to add some great features. Since the release of the NEW!!! OSMO MOBILE, I was extremely excited to use it with the new LG V20 Cell Phone which has an amazingly clear 4K camera and audio system. I was looking forward to get the OSMO MOBILE in my HOT little hands and test it out before I took it on a job I would be doing in Las Vegas. UNFORTUNATELY my EXCITEMENT was tarnished by lack of communications from Dji and problematic software inherent in this new futuristic marvel. I have not been as excited by a product since I acquired the steadicam which I owned in the early 80's, a model 1A. I had tried to contact the folks at Dji for weeks prior to buying the device but I could not get anyone to answer my calls. I called tech support to find out how I could reach management with questions before I purchased it but I was told to reach out to [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected]. All emails seemed to fall on deaf ears. I even called China 2x to see if I could have someone call me back. I do product integration and I wanted to use the OSMO Mobile in conjunction with some other devices to see how they would work together for delivering Spot Breaking news by a reporter when a camera crew is not available. With all my calling I could not find someone to talk to and time was running out so I just bought the OSMO hoping that it was the answer to a BRILLIANT outcome. Unfortunately the LG V20 and other Android hardware has varying issues with the software connectivity of The OSMO. Mind you I could not test theOsmo with an IPhone, but if you look at the reviews you will see they are pretty split. My guess is most of the dissatisfied customers probably own ANDROIDS. If you look at the Dji website you will notice the OSMO MOBILE is always being used with an IPHONE. In conclusion I feel the Dji OSMO MOBILE could be a great tool if all the features worked with my phones. I feel Dji could have put more time into the development of this product for the broad base fans of this type of device instead of just setting it free and letting consumers buy the product only to be disappointed that it did not work with their personal cell devices. My Advice.....If you want a gimbal to smooth out your camera moves and you don't need a device with all the bells and whistles that don't work look into some of the devices that are made out of machined aluminum. They are more robust and you can screw them right to a tripod or a selfie stick without having to buy a bunch of other accessories to adapt them. Some of these units also have some cool remote controls and also have follow feature that are not as cool as Dji but they work. I tried to like this gimbal for two days but found that it has a hard time with trying to stabilize a iPhone 7 Plus. Ergonomics were great but gimbal roll motor get hot and stops stabilizing with iPhone 7 Plus. Could have been a great gimbal - but didn’t work for my iPhone 7 Plus - ended up returning it .I would recommend for smaller phones. Maybe

I was very skeptical about compatibility. I've read that people had experienced issues with droids, but we downloaded the DJI app, and it worked great. So far, we're very happy with everything, and the fit/finish is very nice. Just an FYI, we had to remove the case from the pixel xl for it to fit in the osmo.

this is a great gimbal and features a nice build quality. The problem is... the software is complete garbage which is full of bugs. More than that, even with the software turning off the image stabilization, particularly with the DJI software, it is extremely stuttery and twitchy. The front camera works great though as it has no stabilization. Main issue is that even though the DJI app and others like Filmic turn off the software stabilization, the back camera still has a hardware stabilizer which screws up. Just brows the DJI support forums.

Hello MaxN. The experience you've had is rather unusual as the Osmo Mobile is one of our most popular products. Both the firmware and app have been robustly tested. Have you been able to reach out to our team for extra help? DJI Support would be delighted to assist and can be contacted by phone, live online chat or email. The videos and photos are NOT automatically saved on your mobile device. You have to download the app and you can only access your files if the phone is attached to the device. Another annoying issue is that after taking several videos and photos you cannot save them to your phone and a message comes up: "Insufficient storage Space. Retry after cleaning up" and I have aprox. 180GB available on my phone. After searching online apparently several customer are experiencing the same issue. They have to find a way to save the files directly to your phone and allow access without the phone being attached to the DJI Osmo Mobile.

This thing is in a league of it's own for phone gimbals. I'm not sure if it's me, firmware or something else but I see it completely lose calibration and fail to do it's job from time to time.
