Great small camera for personal, professional work
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is a great tool for a variety of use cases. In my case, I’m going to look at the camera through a professional’s eyes, as I primarily chose to test the Pocket 3 from a wedding photographer and videographer perspective. After using the Pocket 3 for about a month in a variety of environments, I can safely say it’s a great tool for the professional. Before we dive in, I do want to say that the Pocket 3 is a great tool for those with more casual use case’s as well. The sensor beats most phone sensors you’ll find, and the gimbal stabilisation is very good and concise. It will be a harder sell to want to carry around, but the Pocket 3 is very small and lightweight enough that you could toss it in a pocket (no pun intended) and be alright taking it places. That said, there’s no real reason to go with the Creator Combo if you don’t “create”. Most of the Creator accessories can be purchased separately anyway. Set up was fairly straightforward if you’ve used any type of cameras before. If it was your first time using a gimbal/stabilizer or a video camera it may not be the easiest to set up/get going, but DJI provides plenty of video tutorials on easy setup/functionality. Once you’re good to go simply insert a MircoSD card and you’re good to go. You can’t record/shoot any photos without one. After that, it’s pretty standard use of a camera on a gimbal. You can control the gimbal movements via a joystick or set the settings to your preference. You can set the different recording modes and swap back and forth with a swipe of the screen. The actual video quality was better than I expected, but just know that this isn’t a $2000 camera body with a $1200 lens attached to it. Concessions are made and it can’t replace that functionality. Although, it can come close enough to warrant usage in a professional and casual setting. For reference, the video picture was vastly superior to an iPhone Pro 14 Max. I don’t have a 15 Pro Max to test, but I’d imagine the gap is closer. You have 10-bit color, which is an added touch, and can also capture HLG HDR. In post, I found no issues using footage from the Pocket 3 in any capacity, though syncing up camera settings is a must (but you probably know that if you’re using it for anything like me). The DJI wireless mic is ok. But, you can connect your own lavalier mic to the 3.5 jack on the transmitter to have a quick record setup in a pinch. One of the best things, though, is that there is no recording limit (in my testing). The camera will record untl the battery is depleted. If your video file pushes past 16GB, the Pocket 3 will auto split the video into two files without sacrificing the quality or cut point. I had no issues with this, and was a major plus for me, using the Pocket 3 as a B-roll camera for wedding ceremonies over 30-minutes in lengt (some of my cameras have a 30-min 4K recording cap). Charging was easy and fast, especially if paired with a higher wattage charger. Honestly, my only real gripe about the entire experience is the DJI Mimo app. The app itself is pleasing, but I found it to be buggy and unreliable all the time. I can’t imagine someone in the professional space spending the time/effort to get everything lined up for a shoot, only to lose connection or a setting to get bumped. It’s much easier to just use the settings on camera. That said, there’s not a specific case where you have to use the app, and I ditched it pretty quickly. Again, for my use case it was easier to not, and since I wound’t be using any of the editing features it really is unnecessary. A couple features that may benefit usage not in the field are the webcam and livestreaming features. It was cool to use the Pocket 3 in both of these ways, and does open up possibilities for easily expanding your home office or creative areas. There is no way, sans using wireless connection via your smartphone, to display the video signal externally. This is a bummer from a professional standpoint, but not completely unexpected. All of this said, the Pocket 3 is a winner in my book. There are a few concessions that are to be made, but for what it offers I found it’s a great value, and worth it over the Pocket 2 as well.

Excellent travel companion.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent travel companion for those wanting a dedicated camera for video. Photos are ok and zoom not excellent but its small and no one will notice. I use it mainly to record live band videos attaching the mic to mixer for pro sound. This camera has replace my sony rx10 M3 which its another great travel camera due to its zoom capabilities. The video on dji osmo pocket 3 its very crisp and easy to edit. Camera is very unnoticeable and has excellent professional capabilities for its small size. I do recommend for travel videos and anything you do not want to bring attention to yourself. Camera its not water or dust proof so treat with care.

It's Like Hiring A Pro Cameraman To Film For Me!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A ONE INCH SENSOR IN A TINY CAMERA IS A GAME CHANGER! This camera is SO GOOD it is going to be hard to get across how I feel about it in words! It is like I have hired a cameraman WITH gear to film for me since I have started using it! No joke! It is THAT GOOD! First let me tell you that I have never owned anything DJI in the past but now that I have this I can see why they have been so successful as a company. This camera is MILES ABOVE what I have been using and I can get SO MANY more types of creative shots and now my filming looks much more like a professional filmed it. The FAST FOCUS and Controllable focus is AMAZING! Low light performance is INCREDIBLE! It sees more light than my eyes and the footage looks great! I do not have to fiddle around to get a shot setup or shot correctly with the proper subjects being in focus the way that I want them. Not to mention the TWO INCH SCREEN is amazingly clear, even in bright sun, and the touch response is great allowing me to change settings in literally no time, now that I have become familiar with the menus and modes. In addition to all of the built in features, customization, modes, gimbal controls and everything else this camera comes with it TRACKS me and my subjects! This makes filming as a solo creator even better because I can give my content the look and feel of someone following and filming me when in reality it is just this tiny, little, smart camera that is standing in for a live person.....and recording footage that looks like it comes from a much MUCH more expensive setup. This allows a casual creator to jump in and get footage that rivals footage filmed on setups that cost tens of thousands of dollars while having a ton to offer to advanced or pro users also. It lets you just use “out of the box” settings to get some great quality recordings or you can set up custom settings that you can quickly save and access to keep you "on brand" or in your style...or for advanced users it records in DLOG and you can do all your color grading later on. It even can be set up to identify part of your shot that are overexposed and make corrections BEFORE you even film rather than guessing and then trying to fix it post if you're not a pro. I’m going to say it again, This Camera Is AWESOME! Period! Point Blank! No Fluff! It’s SO Good! The battery life is AMAZING and just gets better with the battery handle! The extended battery also makes it much more comfortable to handle and moves the USB C port to the rear and gives you access to a 1/4x20 mount to attach it to a tripod, stick, etc. The addition of the mini tripod works great for holding still shots on the go but also allows you to get a better 2 handed grip for gimbal shots! The camera is amazing...and I love it if you haven't realized that yet. There is so much to go through here but I will say that this is a 1,000,000% recommend from me and if you watch some tricks and tips and "how to use" videos once you get one then you will be as happy as I am with it. This camera makes an "action camera" feel like a toy after you use this camera for a while. I find it hard to go back to my "old" camera style. This one is just so much better in every way and the gimble is awesome once you get used to it and set the reaction speed and mode for what you are filming. I honestly can recommend this one enough and that WAS NOT HOW I FELT ABOUT IT WHEN I PLACED MY ORDER to try it out. I'm not swapping batteries and missing footage because of battery issues, I'm not overheating like I am used to dealing with and the AUDIO is AWESOME and doesn't require cleaning up in post like I'm used to...so now that time can be spent on adding additional audio layers to make my content more engaging and professional. The mic transmitter is one of the smartest parts of this pack because it keeps a copy of your audio on the transmitter. By doing this it ELIMINATES CLIPPING caused by getting too far away from the camera or by interference in metro filming areas. You can use a lav mic with it on top of it being a wireless mic with a mic inside and you can connect up to 2 but you only get one in the pack. When not using it there are mics on all sides of the camera itself so the STEREO audio is Really Good for up to about 30-40 feet outdoors except that it does hear more of the background around you. The mist filter is easy to use and smooths out some of the "digital" look to the footage and it also includes a more narrow filter for when you don't want such a wide angle. It comes with a storage case that protects the gimbal and camera while it is in a pocket or bag and it holds the 2 magnetic lenses inside so they are always with you and ready to get whatever shot you need when you need it. There is so, so, so much more about this camera that I could go on for days about it but for the purposes of this review I think I have made my point. If you are a videographer, casual creator or creator the Osmo 3 Creator pack is the one to get! Value-wise it is the best buy because of getting the extra batteries, the wireless mic and everything else that is included, that you wouldn't get with just the Osmo 3 by itself. Considering the quality of video, the DLOG ability, the gimble, the filters, the Excellent Battery life, great audio, fast focus, great daylight visible screen and customizations this is a great buy when comparing its ability against much more expensive and WAY bigger camera gear. The only thing it lacks is being waterproof. I can only hope for the next version to include that feature but I am over the moon and back again happy with the camera and I am SO HAPPY to have it. My content looks night and day different since I switched to it and now my content is WAY EASIER to create in the first place. It has made my life easier and my content MUCH Better! This one is a winner! A++++++! Love It, Love It, Love It!

Love This Camera!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having never owned a DJI product before I was truly excited about trying one. Their drones are top notch but I have no doubt I’d fly one into a tree within minutes. A camera on the other hand is much more my speed, and the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 looked to me like a fascinating product. I got the Creator Combo which includes some great accessories. In the box you find everything tucked nicely inside a camera bag. The bag itself looks like a small toiletry bag. Inside you find the Pocket 3, a protective camera cover, a usb c cable, a pocket 3 handle, a battery handle, wrist strap, a wide angle lens, the DJI Mic 2 transmitter, mic windscreen, mic magnet, and a mini tripod. Please note that no micro sd card is included in the kit. The combo comes in at at about $150 more than the cam alone option and with so many included accessories I think it’s well worth it. The camera itself is solid and beautifully constructed. The swivel 2 inch touch screen is great for horizontal or vertical shooting. The protective cover is basically a plastic shell case which protects the screen and gimbal when the cam is not in use. It also holds the wide angle lens and has a spot where the mic clips on. The wide angle lens is magnetic and just snaps onto the camera and expands the field of view to 108°. The included handle is nice to extend the camera for a more comfortable and substantial grip. The handle also has a usb port which allows charging of the camera when attached. The battery handle charges the internal battery with its 950 mAh battery. It will extend camera operating time by about 62%. It would be nice to have a few of these on hand for extended shooting. On the bottom of both handles you get a 1/4″ tripod thread. The included tripod is small and basic but still great to have for some situations. Otherwise you’ll want a more substantial tripod. The highlight of the combo accessories is the the DJI Mic 2 with windscreen is a great add on for professional audio recording results. I’d say the low point of the package is the camera bag which is adequate but is quite small for easy access to all the contents. For setup you’re directed to download the DJI Mimo app which walks you through the process. You simply connect to Pocket 3 to your device then your prompted to create an account and register your camera. A firmware update later and the Pocket 3 was ready to use. The Mimo app is really nice and incredibly useful for changing camera settings and for its live view functionality where you can view what the camera sees on a much larger screen. As for the camera itself, access to settings is very intuitive by swiping down you find 8 icons with a multitude of camera settings and various configuration preferences. Here you can also save your shooting preferences in multiple custom profiles to easily set again in the future with just one touch. Swipe left and access more pro settings including white balance, shutter speed, ISO, color profile, focus, sharpness, noise reduction, and mic settings. Here you can also use glamour mode which alters your appearance while filming including brightening your teeth, smoothing your skin, slimming your face, adding blush & lipstick, plus many more. Interesting effects which I think is yet another great feature by DJI. Under the focus settings is another notable feature called product showcase which autofocuses on an object that you hold up in front of you. This works incredibly well and would be great for video product reviews. If you swipe up on the screen you find the settings to adjust video resolution, frame rate, and aspect ratio. On the main screen a touch on the camera icon you can select your shooting modes from panorama, photo, video, low light, slow motion, and time lapse modes. Within each mode you can configure additional settings. Using the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is so much fun. The resulting image quality is truly impressive with its 1 inch CMOS sensor it can record up to 4K 120fps. Combined with the incredibly smooth stabilization from the gimbal, my videos looked truly professional. Using ActiveTrack 6.0 which automatically tracks your every move and keeps you centered. It does this so effectively that your videos look like you have a cameraman filming your every move. I was most impressed by the low light capabilities of the Pocket 3. While filming in low light environments I was skeptical that the resulting video would be even useable since it was so dark but here the advantages of the 1 inch sensor are evident with stunning low light results. When playing back my footage on a large screen 4K TV friends and family were shocked by the overall image quality and professional results. I’m a tech junkie and this is hands down the coolest device I’ve used in ages. Love it. Buy it if you’re a vlogger or if you just want amazing quality video of your kids, pets, and vacations.

Smooth Professional Looking Video in Your Hand
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I want to start by thanking the Best Buy Tech Insider Network for sending me the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo for review. Back in the 80's and 90's I used to video tape weddings. I used a full size VHS camcorder and a 100 watt light on top of it as the camcorders of the day needed a lot of light. To get that amount of light, I had to wear a battery belt made of 4 lead acid batteries strapped around my waist (that weighed about 12 pounds) for 8 hours. I would be exhausted by the end of the day. Today's modern camcorders or action cams don't need that much light to record a great quality video. I have had a few action cameras over the years as well as the DJI Action 2 camera that is the size of a large ice cube. Although I shot an entire wedding with that camera and it came out great but it was very hard to control the camera due to it's tiny screen. This DJI Osmo Pocket 3 camcorder has a 2" screen and is on a gimbal that makes the smoothest moves you could imagine. The camera lens floats in the direction you aim it towards giving you a very smooth side to side motion. It keeps the image stable if you tilt up or down as well and the quality of the 4K video is delicious. You can set the camera to shoot 4K (down to 1080p)60fps down to 24fps and in slow motion mode you can record up to 120fps so in playback you will get a really smooth slow motion video. You can set the camera to do timelapse, hyperlapse, and motionlapse as well. The camera can shoot still photos and automatic 180 degree panoramas. There are so many options, too many to go into here so let's just say you have complete control for anything you need to shoot. The Creator Combo comes with almost everything you would need to shoot everything from a web vlog to a wedding. The Creator Combo comes with a hard case to protect the camera, an external battery in a grip that also gives you a 1/4" tripod socket, a grip with a tripod socket but without the battery if you are only going out for a quick shoot and a wide angle filter. It also comes with a Bluetooth microphone and wind screen (dead cat) that can be clipped on to a pocket or held onto a t-shirt using a magnet. There is also a USB-C to USB-C cable to connect to your computer or phone and a soft case to hold all these accessories. The only things not included are the mist filter for giving you a soft dreamy looking video and an accessory holder that let's you wear the camera attached to your backpack or clothing and a set of Neutral density filters to improve the lighting outdoors but they were not available as of this revue. I love the quality of DJI's products as I have 2 of their drones as well as the Action 2 camera. They have such attention to detail and really know what the users want. This is the ideal camera to take on vacation or anywhere as when it's in your hand it's very inconspicuous and yet shoots at a quality that years ago would have cost you thousands of dollars and now professional video is available in your hand (literally).

Great little camera to capture life moments
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera is amazing!!! Being new to vlogging and newbie to this kind of handheld technology, I must admit that I was a bit overwhelmed by the different parts of this equipment when I first opened the box. I literally do not know how to put things together initially. Following the step by step instructions included in the box helped tremendously. Connecting the device with my iPhone 15 Pro through the suggested app was quick and never had any connection issues thereafter. I also downloaded the recommended video editing app and it is fun to use especially for a newbie like me, I like testing different ways to make my videos look pleasing and worth posting on social media. As for the video quality, wow I was blown away! The stabilization is quite impressive, my shaky hands were not noticeable at all! I am used to taking videos using my phone and you can easily tell someone with shaky hands were taking it. With the DJI pocket camera, the videos I captured were smooth and I am very impressed. Even the voice recorded through the microphone of this device was way better than my phone in my opinion. I am so glad I picked up this portable pocket camera to take on my recent trip. My reels have never been this good! lol! I highly recommend this pocket camera, not only for seasoned social media vloggers but also for us who just want to capture life moments.

DJI thought of everything
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First thing I did was pop in a 256 GB Micro SD card. The formatting was almost instant. While this is called "Pocket" I would not carry it in my pocket without the protective cover. Even then it would be iffy for me. i could only see this fitting in a back pocket comfortably. Ideally in a jacket pocket. The camera itself has a 2 inch rotating screen that is bright enough it is fairly visible in the sunlight. The gimbal works almost flawlessly. If you lock in on a face it follows nearly perfectly. You can also manually control by touching the right hand portion of the screen and then using the joystick. Otherwise the joystick handles a very smooth zoom control. Videos and images are crystal clear and quite accurate with color reproduction. Zooming in on the photos show great quality. Included with the camera is a remote mic with wind screen. This works quite well. I was hoping to attach a video with examples of how it handles lighting and wind, but unfortunately the weather has not cooperated. Also included is a short tripod/base, a carry case, a protective pocket sheath, a "wide angle" lens, the mentioned mic and wind screen and a USB type C expanded battery and a short handle extension. The battery doubles as a handle extension. I will admit, it is worth attaching the extender and/or battery if only to have a little easier time getting to the joystick/thumbstick. I have large hands and the fact they thought of adding an extender gives you an idea of the detail they put in this camera. Simply a fantastic camera that I can not wait to start creating some content with.

Great camera for content creators!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is a great tool for up and coming content creators who are looking for a stabilized 4K camera for solo recording or for action shots. This particular Creator Combo comes with everything you need, with the exception of an SD card, to get right into the action. This combo kit is a great way for creators to get started making their content. With face tracking and dynamic tracking you can easily keep your subject in frame and get the amazing shots you are looking for. This also helps if you are recording yourself for vlogs or other front facing content, and the camera rotates to face you so that you can still keep an eye on the view finder to frame up your shot. This combo also includes the DJI Mic 2 allowing you to capture crisp, clear audio for your content. There are multiple amazing features included in the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 and this particular Creator Combo gives you everything you need to get going. I think one of the cool additional features is the ability to turn this camera into an amazing webcam in a pinch, with it's amazing image quality it will look amazing. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking to get an amazing handheld camera, and if you are into content creation then I would doubly recommend this camera.
