Great 4K camera for content creators

As a new content creator, I recently acquired the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo, and it has completely transformed my filming experience. Before, I was just using my iPhone mounted to a selfie stick or on a tripod, but that was cumbersome to use, shooting time was heavily limited by the phone’s battery, and did not result in getting the optimal shots. This compact 3-axis stabilized 4K handheld camera has made it far simpler, easier, and in the process more fun in creating content. The 3-axis stabilization on the Osmo Pocket 3 is nothing short of phenomenal. Whether I'm shooting fast-paced action sequences or slow cinematic shots, the gimbal ensures buttery-smooth footage, eliminating any unwanted shakes or jitters. The camera's 4K video capability produces stunningly crisp and vibrant footage. The 1 inch sensor features a F2.0 aperture that allows for 4K60FPS and 4K120FPS. The colors are rich, and the level of detail is impressive, making it suitable for both professional projects and casual vlogging. The rotatable 2 inch touchscreen is a standout feature that adds a new dimension to the filming process. It rotates allowing for horizontal or vertical shots which enables easy framing and composition, even in challenging shooting conditions. The interface is intuitive, and the touch controls are responsive. The screen is very bright at 700 nits and I found I didn’t have any problems using it outside in bright sunlight. The Osmo Pocket 3 comes with a variety of shooting modes, including ActiveTrack, Slow Motion, and Timelapse. These modes provide creative flexibility, enabling me to capture dynamic shots without the need for additional equipment or post-production tweaks. The DJ Mimo app allows for fine control of settings. The pocket-sized design of the Osmo Pocket 3 makes it incredibly convenient to carry around. It's the perfect companion for on-the-go creators, fitting comfortably in my pocket without compromising on performance. It comes with a bag that resembles a men’s wash kit that you can store every accessory that comes with the camera and makes it easy to transport when travelling. While the battery life is decent for its size, prolonged shooting sessions may require carrying spare batteries. I found that I got around 90 minutes of battery life filming in 4K. However, there is included a 950 mAh battery handle attachment that DJI claims gives an additional 62% increase in battery. The handle of course adds size to the camera, but it is an easy way to add battery life if you don’t want to carry around spare batteries. For beginners, there might be a slight learning curve to fully harness all the features of the Osmo Pocket 3. However, the well-designed user interface and the wealth of online tutorials make the process relatively smooth. There is an active online community of DJI Pocket cam enthusiasts that are always giving tips on how to get the most out of this camera. Just go to Youtube to watch these videos to get better shooting with this camera. The DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo is a must-have for content creators seeking a portable and powerful handheld camera. Its combination of stellar 4K video quality, advanced stabilization, and innovative features like the rotatable touchscreen make it a versatile tool for filmmakers, vloggers, and anyone passionate about capturing high-quality footage on the go.

I really love photography (and video), and am always looking for different, “better,” or more interesting content. This camera absolutely has helped me do that. For starters, DJI really sets you up with everything you need. Included in this set: - The Osmo Pocket 3 camera itself - A hardshell case for the camera - A carrying bag for the remaining components: - DJI Mic 2 Microphone (wireless) - DJI Mic 2 Windscreen - DJI Mic 2 Clip Magnet (for attaching wireless mic to clothing) - Osmo Pocket 3 Short Threaded USB-C Handle - Osmo Pocket 3 Battery Handle - Osmo Pocket 3 Wide-Angle Lens - DJI Wrist Strap Lanyard - Osmo Mini Tripod - USB-C to USB-C cable Everything is solidly and well-built, and “feels good in the hand.” From the camera itself to all the accessories. It is quite compact, even in its largest form, and while it has a nice weight, it is by no means heavy. The display is a nice size, and its ability to rotate easily and smoothly makes switching from horizontal to vertical modes a breeze. The UI is smart, clear, and intuitive. You can easily see all of the relevant information as well as make changes as needed. The are nearly endless customizations available. The corresponding app (DJI Mimo), while perhaps not the best app out there, does work well. I did find some of my transfers were a little slow, but that could be many things, as well as some large file sizes. I can’t say it was any fault of the device, just something to note. While everything I said so far is great, if the camera does not deliver, none of that really matters. Here, I can easily say, no worries, the camera does deliver. For starters, the tracking, focus, and speed of the focus are very good. Very. Subjects, simply, were in frame and clear. Beyond that though, the stabilization is somewhat crazy. I have had, admittedly, minimal experience with any type of gimbal/stabilization like this prior, but I was honestly kind of floored what I was able to grab out of this thing. Everything was smooth and fluid. Like perfect. I just was not expecting that much from this device. Quite frankly, however, I was even more impressed with the output the camera gave me. Video (and photos) was crisp, clear, smooth, just everything good. Further, the number of options and customizations available really allows you to capture everything in nearly every manner. Slow motion, timelapse, hyperlapse, motionlapse, panorama, different fps…etc. Lastly, it just captures so much data it lets you do so much more in post-production. While I have not truly gotten a chance to utilize the mic, in testing, it did very well, and I think will be suitable for most things people will be looking to do. Lastly, battery life has been good for me. Charging is also quite quick. Sure, it will depend on use case, but so far for me, I have zero complaints. I do not think it will be an issue. Ultimately, I absolutely love this camera and package. It is all built very well, it is feature and accessory rich, and most importantly, it produces truly great pictures and video. That it does all of that in such a great form factor is just another bonus. Of course, it will depend on what your uses are, but if they align, I think this is a great value and I think nearly everyone would be pleased with it.

I was eager to explore the capabilities of this pocket-sized marvel. The Osmo Pocket 3 has not only met but exceeded my expectations, making it an indispensable tool for anyone passionate about capturing life's moments with precision and creativity. One of the standout features of the Osmo Pocket 3 is its impeccable design and build quality. Crafted with precision and attention to detail, the device feels robust in hand while maintaining a sleek and minimalist aesthetic. The compact form factor ensures portability, making it an ideal companion for spontaneous shooting sessions. The matte finish not only adds a touch of sophistication but also minimizes fingerprints, a practical consideration for those constantly on the move. Cinematic Capabilities: Okay, I'm not a movie director, but this thing makes my videos look way smoother. It can record in 4K, and I think that's a big deal. The videos do look sharp, and it's stabilized, so my shaky hands aren't ruining everything. User-Friendly Interface: I like that it's easy to figure out. The touch screen works fine, and the menus aren't too confusing. I can change settings without feeling lost. Battery Life and Charging: Battery seems to last a while. I haven't timed it or anything, but it's good enough for me. Integration with DJI Mimo App: I downloaded this app, and it connects to my phone. It's like a remote control or something. I can edit videos and share them on social media, which is cool. Conclusion: So, yeah, I'm not a camera pro, but the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is pretty sweet. If it can make my videos look cool, I'm happy with it. It's small, does the job. If you're like me and just want something easy to use that makes your videos better, check it out.

I tried two different SanDisk cards, both were recommended on Reddit. Both made the pocket 3 overheat. I wasn’t able to get past the format card process. I’m sure I got a lemon. Returned for a refund.

Buy something else. This is my second DJI camera. The app sucks IF & WHEN it decides to work. Best Buy should know better than to sell an item with so many customers having issues even setting it up. The app is required to set up the camera SO, if you can't get the app to load or run, then you have a $1000 pretty rock on your desk.

I purchased brand new and the gimbal has an issue that does not allow it to fully rotate without me having to manually adjust it. I contacted DJI and was told I can return it but Best Buy’s policy is 14 days. So now I have to ship it off to DJI and wait weeks for a replacement.

Great small camera for personal, professional work

The DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is a great tool for a variety of use cases. In my case, I’m going to look at the camera through a professional’s eyes, as I primarily chose to test the Pocket 3 from a wedding photographer and videographer perspective. After using the Pocket 3 for about a month in a variety of environments, I can safely say it’s a great tool for the professional. Before we dive in, I do want to say that the Pocket 3 is a great tool for those with more casual use case’s as well. The sensor beats most phone sensors you’ll find, and the gimbal stabilisation is very good and concise. It will be a harder sell to want to carry around, but the Pocket 3 is very small and lightweight enough that you could toss it in a pocket (no pun intended) and be alright taking it places. That said, there’s no real reason to go with the Creator Combo if you don’t “create”. Most of the Creator accessories can be purchased separately anyway. Set up was fairly straightforward if you’ve used any type of cameras before. If it was your first time using a gimbal/stabilizer or a video camera it may not be the easiest to set up/get going, but DJI provides plenty of video tutorials on easy setup/functionality. Once you’re good to go simply insert a MircoSD card and you’re good to go. You can’t record/shoot any photos without one. After that, it’s pretty standard use of a camera on a gimbal. You can control the gimbal movements via a joystick or set the settings to your preference. You can set the different recording modes and swap back and forth with a swipe of the screen. The actual video quality was better than I expected, but just know that this isn’t a $2000 camera body with a $1200 lens attached to it. Concessions are made and it can’t replace that functionality. Although, it can come close enough to warrant usage in a professional and casual setting. For reference, the video picture was vastly superior to an iPhone Pro 14 Max. I don’t have a 15 Pro Max to test, but I’d imagine the gap is closer. You have 10-bit color, which is an added touch, and can also capture HLG HDR. In post, I found no issues using footage from the Pocket 3 in any capacity, though syncing up camera settings is a must (but you probably know that if you’re using it for anything like me). The DJI wireless mic is ok. But, you can connect your own lavalier mic to the 3.5 jack on the transmitter to have a quick record setup in a pinch. One of the best things, though, is that there is no recording limit (in my testing). The camera will record untl the battery is depleted. If your video file pushes past 16GB, the Pocket 3 will auto split the video into two files without sacrificing the quality or cut point. I had no issues with this, and was a major plus for me, using the Pocket 3 as a B-roll camera for wedding ceremonies over 30-minutes in lengt (some of my cameras have a 30-min 4K recording cap). Charging was easy and fast, especially if paired with a higher wattage charger. Honestly, my only real gripe about the entire experience is the DJI Mimo app. The app itself is pleasing, but I found it to be buggy and unreliable all the time. I can’t imagine someone in the professional space spending the time/effort to get everything lined up for a shoot, only to lose connection or a setting to get bumped. It’s much easier to just use the settings on camera. That said, there’s not a specific case where you have to use the app, and I ditched it pretty quickly. Again, for my use case it was easier to not, and since I wound’t be using any of the editing features it really is unnecessary. A couple features that may benefit usage not in the field are the webcam and livestreaming features. It was cool to use the Pocket 3 in both of these ways, and does open up possibilities for easily expanding your home office or creative areas. There is no way, sans using wireless connection via your smartphone, to display the video signal externally. This is a bummer from a professional standpoint, but not completely unexpected. All of this said, the Pocket 3 is a winner in my book. There are a few concessions that are to be made, but for what it offers I found it’s a great value, and worth it over the Pocket 2 as well.

Excellent travel companion for those wanting a dedicated camera for video. Photos are ok and zoom not excellent but its small and no one will notice. I use it mainly to record live band videos attaching the mic to mixer for pro sound. This camera has replace my sony rx10 M3 which its another great travel camera due to its zoom capabilities. The video on dji osmo pocket 3 its very crisp and easy to edit. Camera is very unnoticeable and has excellent professional capabilities for its small size. I do recommend for travel videos and anything you do not want to bring attention to yourself. Camera its not water or dust proof so treat with care.

It's Like Hiring A Pro Cameraman To Film For Me!

A ONE INCH SENSOR IN A TINY CAMERA IS A GAME CHANGER! This camera is SO GOOD it is going to be hard to get across how I feel about it in words! It is like I have hired a cameraman WITH gear to film for me since I have started using it! No joke! It is THAT GOOD! First let me tell you that I have never owned anything DJI in the past but now that I have this I can see why they have been so successful as a company. This camera is MILES ABOVE what I have been using and I can get SO MANY more types of creative shots and now my filming looks much more like a professional filmed it. The FAST FOCUS and Controllable focus is AMAZING! Low light performance is INCREDIBLE! It sees more light than my eyes and the footage looks great! I do not have to fiddle around to get a shot setup or shot correctly with the proper subjects being in focus the way that I want them. Not to mention the TWO INCH SCREEN is amazingly clear, even in bright sun, and the touch response is great allowing me to change settings in literally no time, now that I have become familiar with the menus and modes. In addition to all of the built in features, customization, modes, gimbal controls and everything else this camera comes with it TRACKS me and my subjects! This makes filming as a solo creator even better because I can give my content the look and feel of someone following and filming me when in reality it is just this tiny, little, smart camera that is standing in for a live person.....and recording footage that looks like it comes from a much MUCH more expensive setup. This allows a casual creator to jump in and get footage that rivals footage filmed on setups that cost tens of thousands of dollars while having a ton to offer to advanced or pro users also. It lets you just use “out of the box” settings to get some great quality recordings or you can set up custom settings that you can quickly save and access to keep you "on brand" or in your style...or for advanced users it records in DLOG and you can do all your color grading later on. It even can be set up to identify part of your shot that are overexposed and make corrections BEFORE you even film rather than guessing and then trying to fix it post if you're not a pro. I’m going to say it again, This Camera Is AWESOME! Period! Point Blank! No Fluff! It’s SO Good! The battery life is AMAZING and just gets better with the battery handle! The extended battery also makes it much more comfortable to handle and moves the USB C port to the rear and gives you access to a 1/4x20 mount to attach it to a tripod, stick, etc. The addition of the mini tripod works great for holding still shots on the go but also allows you to get a better 2 handed grip for gimbal shots! The camera is amazing...and I love it if you haven't realized that yet. There is so much to go through here but I will say that this is a 1,000,000% recommend from me and if you watch some tricks and tips and "how to use" videos once you get one then you will be as happy as I am with it. This camera makes an "action camera" feel like a toy after you use this camera for a while. I find it hard to go back to my "old" camera style. This one is just so much better in every way and the gimble is awesome once you get used to it and set the reaction speed and mode for what you are filming. I honestly can recommend this one enough and that WAS NOT HOW I FELT ABOUT IT WHEN I PLACED MY ORDER to try it out. I'm not swapping batteries and missing footage because of battery issues, I'm not overheating like I am used to dealing with and the AUDIO is AWESOME and doesn't require cleaning up in post like I'm used to...so now that time can be spent on adding additional audio layers to make my content more engaging and professional. The mic transmitter is one of the smartest parts of this pack because it keeps a copy of your audio on the transmitter. By doing this it ELIMINATES CLIPPING caused by getting too far away from the camera or by interference in metro filming areas. You can use a lav mic with it on top of it being a wireless mic with a mic inside and you can connect up to 2 but you only get one in the pack. When not using it there are mics on all sides of the camera itself so the STEREO audio is Really Good for up to about 30-40 feet outdoors except that it does hear more of the background around you. The mist filter is easy to use and smooths out some of the "digital" look to the footage and it also includes a more narrow filter for when you don't want such a wide angle. It comes with a storage case that protects the gimbal and camera while it is in a pocket or bag and it holds the 2 magnetic lenses inside so they are always with you and ready to get whatever shot you need when you need it. There is so, so, so much more about this camera that I could go on for days about it but for the purposes of this review I think I have made my point. If you are a videographer, casual creator or creator the Osmo 3 Creator pack is the one to get! Value-wise it is the best buy because of getting the extra batteries, the wireless mic and everything else that is included, that you wouldn't get with just the Osmo 3 by itself. Considering the quality of video, the DLOG ability, the gimble, the filters, the Excellent Battery life, great audio, fast focus, great daylight visible screen and customizations this is a great buy when comparing its ability against much more expensive and WAY bigger camera gear. The only thing it lacks is being waterproof. I can only hope for the next version to include that feature but I am over the moon and back again happy with the camera and I am SO HAPPY to have it. My content looks night and day different since I switched to it and now my content is WAY EASIER to create in the first place. It has made my life easier and my content MUCH Better! This one is a winner! A++++++! Love It, Love It, Love It!
