You can send it out for a 6 mile trip with out controls via waypoints and gps but if you plan on going out 800-1000ft, forget about it. The video cuts out and the range is poor. I purchased an aftermarket range antenna and only got 300 more feet. If using around you and at events this is great and the price is right. If looking for range, go with the pro version

It took months just to fix the firmware issues and then once I finally did and the quad started responding I took it out to fly twice and both times it went from upright to upside down tearing up its propellers never reaching above 3 feet.
