First off, I was very apprehensive about spending a lot of money on a drone that I might crash or lose. The good news is that this was very reasonably priced and has a number of fail-safes. If the drone loses it's signal by going out of the 1 kilometer range, it uses it's GPS to return to where it took off. We ran it until the battery was 10% and the controller said so and it returned to us and landed at our feet. The 2.7K HD camera is crystal clear, better than 1080p but not quite 4K. It looks fantastic on my 4K TV though. I downloaded the video into iTunes and I can watch it on my computer or AppleTV. My 15 year old son loves it. Very easy and stable flying.

This review is not at all towards Best Buy. I'm very glad Best Buy did the return. My son got this for xmas and he could never get it to fly. Something about software updates and firmware updates idk. Couldn't get anyone on the phone at DJI either .

This quadcopter was my first drone purchase ever, I brought it out of the box in an open area, calibrated before flight and this copter only seemed to slam its props into the grass on its right side with the camera lens facing forwad

The phantom 3 is not a toy. It takes a bit of practice but is surprisingly easy to fly. I highly recommend this aircraft if you are serious about having fun. Take your time and be patient to learn and fly this machine. It will bring you tons of enjoyment. Oh yes....the video camera is excellent! I am an avid GoPro user and am impressed with the quality of the professional videos I can take high in the sky or low to the ground. Have fun!

This drone is absolutely amazing. From the moment it arrived I unpacked it, read the manuals on it and charged up the batteries, took it outside and I was flying. This was my first drone besides flying a cheap one someone else owned before, the other one was very hard to fly, this one SIMPLE. The phantom is great as long as you have a relatively clear area just launch it and start playing with the camera taking pictures and video. It takes very high quality 2.7K photos and videos, yes it is not 4K but for half the price I didn't need to professional. I would recommend an extra battery or two and a case, who wants to just fly for 20 minutes and then take a break!

Very easy to fly. I only have 2 hours fly time on it but think it would be very hard to wreck this drone unless you have a mechanical failure. My only regret is that I didn't buy the professional

Great Drone. I absolutely love it. after a few glitches with the software which were quickly resolved. I took this baby for a spin. in beginners mode to protect it. love it. taking it on a real flight in about a week.

Order new for a Christmas gift. Item was an open box, missing stickers and 2 of the camera stabilizers were missing. Why would a a returned item be shipped before reinspecting?

hard to update firmware, control keeps on disconnecting. this drone is really not fun. thats why i return it and got phantom 4. this review is purely base on my experience.

Didn't work out of the box! Went to store and they wanted to charge me $150 for a new battery! Inexcusable ! Poor customer service ! Hope I never have to shop there again

DJI after sale service is truly poor. Having read the reviews it is clear that the Phantom 3 standard is often defective and a poor product.

First week with it and no problem at all. Take time to set the software up but after that will be amazing experience for a beginner. One thing that disappoints me is that Geek Squad doesn't have an extended warranty for such a excellent Drone.

I bought this item to have fun with it, and it turns out that it didn't even work. Wouldn't take off after I tried multiple times!!

This was my first drone and right out of the box I assembled it and charged it and flew it straight up to 300 ft in the air on my 1st flight. No problems and no worries. It was like I have been flying drones my whole life. For the price this is the best aerial photo taking drone. Buy it

I picked up this drone because of the price drop (new version released) and to add it to my video production business. I was excited to bring it home, charge it and take it for a test flight before a possible gig in 2 weeks. Well, I spent 8 hours trying to get it to even work and gave up. I'm fairly tech-literate considering the cameras and computers I use daily, but this thing had me pretty annoyed. The first 2 hours I spent with the app, DJI GO. You need to use the app exclusively to get video feedback, upgrades, etc, and it refuses to let you fly the drone until you register. There are several issues with that: 1) The app requires that you bounce back and forth between your home wifi and the controller's wifi, which connects to the drone. The process is unintuitive and inconsistent, even 6 inches away. How is that possible for a device that relies on wifi for communication during flight? Every 20-30 seconds, the wifi on the controller would drop. I even "forgot" all of my other wifi connections to make sure it didn't get bumped. Didn't matter, it would just turn off and that was it. 2) The app was crashing on my new Android phone, which I use for business so there are no games, etc on it. The app locked up during registration every time. I finally pulled out an old Galaxy Tab and, sure enough, it "worked". It made it past registration but never connected to the camera. There's no reason it shouldn't, but I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't. At this point, I assumed it was the firmware, which the app kept insisting I upgrade. That consumed the next 6 hours, without exaggeration. I began the install via the controller wifi and it disconnected. Every 20-30 seconds, it would disconnect again. Well, the problem there is the firmware had already started installing so when it failed, the drone went nuts with noise. There's no way to shut it off and, from what I've read, it will continue this insanely loud beeping until the firmware is successfully installed. Well, I can't do that since the wifi keeps dropping. I tried reformatting the SD card, I tried pulling the .bin from the tablet and putting it on the card, etc, but no matter what, if the wifi drops, the update fails. I've had enough. After spending $625, I am not going to spend 8 hours of frustration and have a loud, obnoxious brick to show for it. This thing is going back tomorrow and I will get a refund. There are plenty of other companies making decent products for a little more money. Side note, I've read a LOT of major complaints about the service with this company as well. I haven't dealt with them, but I quickly decided to return the product instead of going through the hassle I've read a lot of people deal with. Good luck if you buy this.

I have never owned a drone, I have and own lots of RC Toys, Wife bought this for me for Christmas, I set it up, charged it up and called a buddy of mine to bring his to do some testing. We went out to the country, fired it up, set it up and set a home point, I set the unit up to fly in advanced mode, and we were off, the unit ascended to an alt. of 396 ft. and it flew out to 12396 ft before I lost the signal, it returned home without any problems on auto return and landed safely. My friends Phantom Pro flew a little past that mark. I have about 15 minutes of awesome HD video. The Phantom is not a toy but it is a very affordable entry level Drone which I am very happy to have.

The drone force you to update the software and it did not fly.. Even the staff at Bestbuy couldn't make it take off...

when i bought this i was so happy! iv been wanting one for a long time. i never used one before but it was really easy to fly. if your debating on weather to get this or not. do it! the quality is good easy to fly. i make youtube videos for fun. if you want to see the quality and the way it fly then watch my video! Bought this as my first drone. My brother has one, so I knew sort of what to expect. Had it up and flying in no time, taking great videos and pictures. The range is good...a little better than I expected (1/2 mile). No crashes yet...LOL! Easy to retrieve videos off the SD card with the supplied cord. I would highly recommend this if you are just getting into drones for videos/pictures.

Would not calibrate or fly. After reading lots of bad reviews I returned it.
