It was great until it flew away
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this 4 weeks ago and it was easy to fly, the video was great and I felt really good about it. Until today. Everything was charged up, the screen showed disconnected in a grey box and I lost all video and all control of the drone. Its gone.

Great Drone! Not Great for Columbus, GA
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This is a great drone, I loved it but had to return it because I live in Columbus, Ga and with Fort Benning being close by all of Columbus is a Class-D NFZ. So this drone will not even take off. Now if you live someone where you don't have a Military base close by this is great for you, just did not work out for me.

It does an 'okay' job at withstanding the wind, however, it gets annoying when I am trying to get certain shots. Nevertheless, awesome drone for beginners and enthusiasts

Worst Customer Service I Have Experienced
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased a DJI Phantom 4 drone at Best Buy a few months ago for $1,400.00. I didn't use it for a couple months and started using it about six weeks ago. Over the course of using it about 20 times, it malfunctioned on its own and crashed itself into a buildings and to the ground. On the second malfunction, it broke the gimbal. I went to Best Buy with the drone and they did everything they could to warranty the product, but they found that they were not allowed to offer a warranty because DJI does not stand by their product- even for their largest retailer, Best Buy (says a lot when the largest electronics store in the country is not allowed to stand behind a product). I returned the drone to DJI for repairs, explicitly explaining the details of the incident. DJI would not stand by their product. DJI blamed me when it was their product, specifically their forward motion sensors, that failed. The gimbal had been damaged in the crash and did not rotate left to right any more, but it was still attached to the drone by its bracket and servo. DJI took a number of weeks to run diagnostics- they did not run any repairs, I can only imagine how long that would have taken. I explained the situation to DJI, and was never listened to. I realized that the company would not stand by its product so I requested that they return my drone 'exactly as it was sent' if they were not going to fix it. A full week later, I received my drone and found that the camera was completely severed from the gimbal, except for the wire strip which was partially torn. Not only did they not repair my aircraft, they damaged it more, rendering it unusable! Hands down the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Lazy and inattentive staff. Long wait time. They won't stand by their product. They damaged my property while it was in their care. I am telling everyone I know about this, regardless if they are using a drone or planning to. Do not buy any product from DJI. There are much better competitors out there who will respect the price tag they place on their products and actually care about their customers. Best Buy management knew about and warned me of this marked lack of good business practices at DJI when I first considered returning the drone, I should have listened to them, I would have saved a lot of time and headaches. As I am writing this, I am on the phone with Best Buy to recommend they do not carry DJI's product any more. I will also be calling any and all other retailers I can find with DJI products and warning them about my experience. I tried to post my complaint to DJI, labeling all of the review site’s fields at the lowest rating (which was appropriate). I hit ‘submit’ and all I got was a small green label written in Chinese letters with a small ‘x’ button. DJI appears to have set up their review site not to accept poor ratings!

Could be better for the price

And the camera only shoots 30 FPS if it was 60 FPS i would give it a better review. So i would recommend spending a little more and get the advance or professional if those things are important to you. I think for that price DJI should give the standard live streaming and 60 FPS on the camera. Other than that its a easy great fun flying drone.

Never got off the ground

After 1 hour wait for customer support, the difficult to understand tech provided instructions to reset the battery. Performed the reset, with no success. Then he pointed me to the web site to submit a service request. Couldn't help me directly by shipping me a new battery. Many complaints about battery's not charging on the web. Not an intelligent battery as claimed . . . Returned Phantom 3 for a refund. I guess it is fun for a while if you get a unit that works. Good luck and be ready to spend a lot on batteries.

Crash and its broken
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a retired Army pilot so the phantom 3 was very easy to fly out of the box after putting the blades on. It is connected with wifi on your phone, which is impossible to see outside. My phone lost signal and it dropped from 25 feet and gave my red bushes a good shaping. Needless to say. The gimble bracket broke and a black and silver wire are sticking out. I replaced some other things. 500.00 of fun for 2 days. I would recommend getting one controlled by just a remote control until you are expert at connecting phone to wifi when phone won't accept wifi. Then get a good carbon fiber drone.

some excellent quality some problems

Transmitter a bit cheap.You attach your smartphone with a clamp and flimsy support to transmitter which causes the phone to bounce around in use. NO sun shade supplied. Our AMA insured field is about 2 miles from former Grumman airport. The flight program/GPS locked the transmitter out declaring restricted area rendering drone useless, I had to return the drone.135 of our members fly and have no problems.

flew away after 2 flights

The first two flights were fine but during the third flight after flying it for 5 minutes the drone started to fly far away, when I clicked the return to home button on the app it said it was returning but it never came back. I called customer service that day and after waiting on hold for 90 minutes the rep told me I had to email support to obtain the flight records and the location of my drone. I Immediately did this on 12/28 and they responded saying that I needed to send them my proof of purchase. I sent this information to them on 12/31 and they have not yet sent me the flight info! At this point I am sure the drone is ruined as we've had several snow and rain storms. At initial contact with support I asked them to expedite the process as we knew storms were coming. It has been over a week since the drone flew away and we have yet to receive help from customer service.
