I have flown many drones from different manufacturers so I have good experience flying drones. I bought DJI Phantom Standard 3 recently and I bought it primarily by getting attracted towards the follow me mode. The other modes worked fine but follow me mode never worked for me anywhere anytime. Many a times when I put the aircraft in follow me mode, it would go out of control and ran into different directions and hit tree. I google about this issue and found that this is a recognized bug back in Dec 2015. http://www.phantompilots.com/threads/aircraft-lost-control-in-follow-me-mode.60753/ Unfortunately, I still see it so it means they have not sorted out the issue. Try this mode and make sure it works for you before you putting decent amount of money.

Terrible product and the service is even worse. Maybe I got a dud, when I got the drone, it worked great for a while and then the controller was not reacting properly with the drone and it went into the water. After fishing it out and sending it back to the company, they sent it back to me saying that it was fixed. Turned the drone on when I got it back and didn’t even turn the controller on and it took off and flew into a tree. It took 3 weeks to get it back and it lasted about 15 seconds when I got it back now sending it back to the company again. Nobody speaks English at the customer service center either. BUYER BEWARE! Went with another brand and the new one works great!

A recent update to the software that is required to operate this drone(accidentally) removed compatibility with this model. It's happened several times, apparently, and they're not really in any rush to fix it. So I bought a $500 paper weight. Which to me is just unacceptable. So I'm returning it, and won't be buying from this brand again. It must be a great product, but right now does not work as advertised.

IT FLEW AWAY... ITS ONLY 14 DAYS OLD!! Used the DRONE 10 times... DRIFTED AS SOON AS IT TOOK FLIGHT>> BATTERIES WERE CHARGED, THE DRONE WOULD NOT RETURN HOME He PRESSED THE BUTTON.... IT KEPT GOING.. " Then at your command, or if the control signal is ever lost, your Phantom comes back to you instantly" .. ABSOLUTELY the worst piece of advertising! THE DRONE IS NOW SITTING at GPS .02 a mile a way in the BAY!! I have a heartbroken teenager.. It's like E.T... DRIFTED from it's group.. SO DISAPPOINTED!! My SON saved up his money all year long and POOF it's GONE!!!

I bought the DJI phantom 3 and a 3DR Solo. I can honestly say the Solo is 10X better then the DJI. Took the DJI back and bought another Solo. I'm not saying the DJI is junk because it's not. It just not on the same playing field as Solo.
