Best Drone On The Market
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This drone is a must have for anyone who has the itch to fly. It is not for first time users but I will say it is a heck of a lot easier to fly than a toy drone.

Great drone
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Please do not fly at night in new locations specially when you can't see power cables at night. Drone will see them either. Other than that have fun flying it

Good, small quirks here and there
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good stuff: Excellent 4K video quality, even in relatively low light. Good raw (.dng format) image quality, there are some distortions especially towards the edge of the image. Gimbals works really well, the video is rock steady even in very windy conditions. The obstacle avoidance sensors are pretty cool, but it's usability is to be debated (can't see smaller objects or wires). Fly well over 25 min on one battery (best to get a backup battery for any serious work) Sports mode is freakishly fast! App is well designed and easy to use. Cool functions such as follow me or points of interest, as well as click to go. Cons: Famously horrendous customer support (had a small ordering issue, tried to call, no answer, tried online chat, the rep just connected and closed my chat window right in front of my eye.) When doing 4K Video recording, the drone splits file evey 4GB, but it does it so horribly, that when a clip is split, there is a 0.5-1 second delay (thus a good amount of frames lost) If doing 4K, your best bet is use start/stop record button more frequently so the file does not get split during important takes. Hard to grip the drone if you have smaller hands. (I put some sandpaper tape on the side of the drone to help with gripping) Hard to take the battery out of the drone for charging. The buttons are not designed well to be able to grip the battery and pull it out. (also put some sandpaper tape on the battery grips and now they are fine) Almost never reaches advertised flying distance, the signal would lose pretty quickly if not in an open field, despite frantic attempts at adjusting the antenna according to DJI user manual. In conclusion, it's probably still the best drone money can buy at this price range. So I would still recommend it to anyone who's interested. However for better value with less useless bells and whisles, the DJI Phantom 3 Professional is a real steal at current price ($799)

Awesome drone!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read a bunch of reviews before I bought my Phantom 4. Everything has worked well. No crashes or problems. It is very stable and easy to fly for someone who has never flown anything before. Sport mode is fun and the GPS (P) mode is perfect for beginners. The battery lasts 22 min in my area which is 4,600 feet above sea level. The battery is rated at 28 min at sea level. I have flown the drone 2.5 miles away from me and I could have gone further so the range of 3.1 miles is reasonable if there are no obstacles. In my neighborhood I can't go as far. The 4K video is amazing and flying the drone is a kick.

Great until update
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As of right now I keep receiving the no image transmission, with a aircraft code. I've done all the updates and the drone will not recognize my SD card. I dont know if I got a messed up one or not but I will be going back to Best Buy to trade it. Until then my review stands as poor.

Amazing Drone!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For never being in the drone scene, I wanted my first drone to be something of high quality. The Phantom 4 definitely surpasses my expectations. I have never flown a drone before and I easily picked up this one and flew it the day I bought it. I've only had this drone for about a month and I already feel completely in control no matter where I am. It's very stable even in higher winds. And it captures amazing quality video and nice pictures. Although I have not tried all the features it comes with (TapFly, Active Track...) I can't seem to just get over how fun it is to simply fly around a park and see the view from 400 feet in the air. The range is incredible. I have flow over 2000 feet away and the signal stays strong. I know it says the range is 3.1 miles, but I'm not too comfortable to fly that far without seeing it. Still, even flying it 100 feet away is amazing! And constantly getting asked what that drone is is a fun feeling! I definitely recommend this drone if you are looking for a higher quality drone. Yes the price is a bit much, but it is SO worth it! You will always be looking for the days where it's perfect to fly!

No competition yet
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This review goes in depth on a couple things and touches on many. This is meant for those looking for more info then usually found on short reviews. With the LightBridge technology and it's 6.2 mile radius, (5km out each way) in excellent conditions, easily go a mile and a half! No other company offers anything beyond 1000m because they're using WiFi. DJI uses a mature technical effective range controller and the best distance on the market, period. It doesn't seem to have the crazy distance us P3P/A users came to expect, which is a letdown to be sure, but I don't fly 2 miles away anyway so it doesn't bother me, what I have seen is 500m thru super dense trees in TX @ 100' canopy, so in the open she'll fly far. The battery isn't giving me or anyone 28m so don't expect that, it's doing about 24m which is pretty dang good. That's where any "complaints" end. This is static (meaning she doesn't move around at all) and with the vision position system being upgraded from a measly 3m to 10m really improves stability as it uses both systems (vision +GPS) to keep it stabile and static, compared to a P3P which moves around a little in flight, the P4 does not! Amazingly the collision avoidance is actually effective against tree branches without leaves on them at like 1/2" to 3/4" can actually be seen and avoided! Of course small branches are leathal and should be avoided like the plague. The active trac is just beyond cool, avoids obstacles while tracking autonomously, way far ahead in the game. Tracks like a military drone, way way cool. Fit and finish is exemplary and perfect, new motors are strong and push on props rock. To me the biggest improvement is the twin IMU and compass units (IMU is the inertia math unit, or Inertial Movement Unit and are the brains for tracking itself) with duals it not only compares and with lock-out a unit with algorithms preset to check bad influence and wrong calculations, same with compass. Now 3 units is the real way to go, using two to check the one in question, like real planes do, so it's not foolproof, but it's one more brain box then any other drone in this price range for sure. With twin units and smart RTH (return to home) obstacle avoidance fly always seem to be very rare if at all so far nothing on the web of a P4 flying away. I like the way the "radar" shows on screen and works very well, better then most expected. They added slo-mo and reduced chromatic aberration by 56% and lens distortion by 36% over the 4K P3P camera. The whole system is just "sweetness" on steroids. I upgraded from a P3P and am totally happy, even tho I got it for a song due to Best Buy and their awesome customer service, due to a TV purchase I had about $400 off. Best Buy is the best place to get this type of hi tech flying camera, due to the nature of these, you want to be able to exchange if for some crazy reason it doesn't update or something small makes it not 100%. Order from another vendor and you might be sol or have to wait weeks for mailing and RMAs, with Best Buy, they'll take care of you that day on the spot! It's $1400 sure, but your getting bleeding edge technology that no other companies can offer at this time. Lightbridge is the shiznit! Until others do likewise, Yuneek is offering 1000m range for video and controller, the P4 claims 3.1miles, which may be pushing it for normal usage, but surely out in desert or wide open might do, even if it doesn't and your in open area, no worries as so far, 100% of the time a P4 returns to home safely! What more could be said? I do wish it had raising gear, but it's not needed as props don't get in view like the P3P/a and earlier versions. Sport mode is crazy fast, even the pros are talking about how cool the speed is, and they know speed. Again, the "tap to fly" and "active track" along with follow me, "home point" and a few other smart functions it's a crazy efficient machine for photographers and hobbiest both. DJI has made it easy to really get the shot you want, and track subject easily using your tablet or phone. Buy an Asus 8s from Best Buy as its a great 4XHD screen and right at home on the controller, and won't break the bank either, to get the very most out of the DJI GO app, which in itself is pretty powerful and compliments the craft well. Unless your a range freak, which they have external antenna to alieve the range issue, you will be impressed, it's pretty well documented the P4 doesn't have the range of the P3P/A. Of course there are those that have gotten 4 miles also, but in same vs same conditions the newest quad does get less range usually, which hasn't been my consensus yet, but it's still very new. I didn't buy an extra battery and kinda wish I did, other then that, it's ready to fly out of the box after updating firmware. The case is comes in is a great little plus that is definitely a nice addition to save a little cash on initial purchase. So recommend this, to a friend or family, anyone interested in this awesome hobby! Don't forget to register, and something I had to learn, FAA doesn't send you your stickered numbers like I was waiting for, instead once registered your given your number, print out the info on two photo size photo paper (5X7), keep one with the case so it's with you, the other cut out the number and affix to the craft itself, that's the law, it can be placed in battery compartment as the batt. can be taken out without tools, so in the back of the battery holder is perfectly acceptable, good flying!

Amazing. Just Amazing.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This this is unreal. The quality, control and ease of use makes flying nothing less than fantastic. Being a first-time drone buyer/user, I did my research and read all the reviews. I am so happy to have spent the extra money on the Phantom 4. The extra features are fantastic and once set up, you are up and flying in no time. If you are looking at getting a drone, get the Phantom 4. IT ROCKS!

Easy to Fly.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This drone has been my favorite to fly thus far. Granted, I haven't tried one of the more professional drones, like the Inspire 1, but in the prosumer range, this takes the cake. If you're looking to do any type of professional video with your drone, this is really where you want to be spending your money. I'd also recommend grabbing an ND filter (ND16 from DJI) so you don't have to worry as much about prop shadow (look it up) showing up in, and ruining, your awesome aerial footage. However, if you're just a hobbyist that wants a drone to have for fun and not to make a profit, maybe consider GoPro's drone, the Karma. It's more portable than this drone, has a gimbal (the thing that stabilizes your footage) that detaches and you can carry it around with you, and it also allows you to remove the GoPro camera to use with other GoPro accessories. Truly versatile. But I'd say the Phatom 4 is better for flying, because that's what it's built for. It's great at keeping your shot stable. The tracking features are amazing. The collision detection is great (just keep in mind there are no cameras in the back or on the top!) I love that it includes a usable case (unless you're flying off somewhere, then you'll want something more professional). It can keep up with some intense action (45mph in sport mode, just watch out for your props showing up in your footage) And now that it's coming down in price, it's very competitive. To summarize. Get this is you're planning on doing any sort of professional work. Look elsewhere for more versatile and portable options if you're just purchasing as a hobby.

Amazing camera toy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this on the release day. It has been quite a joy to own. I had a quad before this one but the phantom 4 makes flying so easy and allows you to see the world in a whole new way. Even now and then I'll have video transmission problems but that is more so area dependent and a fixable problem. I bought an iPad mini 4 to use as my monitor. I would recommend getting more than 16 gigs as the dji app takes a lot of space the more videos you make. Just bought another phantom 4 for my dad for his birthday and retirement present. My brother bought one for himself. It's just amazing what you can achieve with this.... As far as specifications, I usually get between 23-25 minutes out of each battery. I bought a second battery cause that isn't long enough but great as far as these drones go. The quick attach propellers are great and easy to use. I've hit 2 trees and my deck and haven't even broken a propellor( obstacle avoidance only works going forward). Extremely sturdy reliable product. Buy it.

Newbie and loving it!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am very new to drones, and reviewed MANY MANY hours worth of information before deciding on the Phantom 4. I'm glad I did! The object avoidance alone is worth the price, and has saved me countless times already from crashing. The look is suitable, and I bought a skin for it to spruce it up. The battery life per charge is pretty accurate, unless you fly in sport mode. But, I've had it well above 50mph, so of course the battery is going to drain faster. I have not experienced any fly away or any sort of unresponsiveness from this drone. In fact, as a newbie, I was happily surprised by how fun and easy this drone was to fly. Read and follow all instructions and regulations, and you will have ZERO issues. I'm already flying like a pro!

Pleased overall
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to use after watching some tutorials on Youtube. Great photos and video. The only drawback is the size. It's portable, but is a bit too large for throwing in a backpack or hauling by bike.

Probably most advanced quad on the market
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.DJI did well with the Phantom 4. Colision avoidance, smart modes, and ease of use make this an easy buy for anyone wanting to take quality aerial video. The stability of the camera gimbal even in decent wind is quite impressive. Its unfortunate that DJI released the Phantom 4 Pro so soon after because it really makes the phantom 4 less attractive, but it also makes it so that you can pick one up now for several hundred less than a couple months ago.

Love the DJI Phantom 4
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have wanted a drone for over a year now. I purchased a phantom 3 in Dec. 2015 but could not fly it because of NFZ restrictions. Since I moved to a less restricted area I can enjoy this exciting drone and all it has to offer. The set up is really simple. Charge the batteries, attached the propellers, calibrate the device and before you know it, you're a bird in flight. I really like the advanced modes of the phantom 4. The speed is amazing too. With the amateur setting enabled the velocity is restricted but when the restrictions are disabled, it's an entirely different monster. The camera is amazing too. The first time I flew it was at night and the image quality was great considering the lighting in the area wasn't all that good. I like that it comes with a carrying case (included as the main package). Really makes transporting the drone around much easier and keeps it secure. I will likely get an official DJI backpack but the starter case is great for now.
