Great from DJI
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great new drone from DJI. The setup can be a little difficult but just follow the app directions. Make sure to get extra batteries, you will want them.

Warning: Drone flew away on 8th flight
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am an experienced and careful drone operator on typhoon and Dji models. Once it flew away on its own, unobstructed at an altitude of 160' only 9 minutes into a new battery over park land and lakes. Needless to say, I can't recommend this drone with the per flight cost I had! It was only 3 days old. Once it flew away, I went online and was floored by the number of DJI Drone owners with the same experience. I would have reconsidered buying such a new release. Without a crashed drone I have no recourse. Nothing. I'm out $1500.

Great Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I owned a small drone and had lots of fun with it until my dog ate it. When I won $3k playing a scratcher I wanted to blow most of it on an expensive toy so I bought the Phantom 4. Hope my dog doesn't eat this one.

Do not buy the Black ED
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The reason I am writing this review is out of frustration. I bought the Black ED of this drone, special Best Buy only. The problem? I can not find parts except for batteries and propellers. I chatted with DJI, they told me it was not a DJI product...really, than I called DJI, they told me only Best Buy had the black Landing Gear I am looking for. So I call Best Buy, they can not find the part either. So at this point I may have to buy a white landing gear set, and pant it black. Best Buy and DJI should support this product better, and let customers know if you buy a black DJI Phantom 4 you can not buy replacement parts that are black. DJI if you can read this, I hope you can help!

Battery Problems
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Battery will not charge on brand new P4 so returning to Bestbuy. After reading online and contacting DJI, it sounds like this is a common problem that has not been addressed with any recall measures. I reached out to DJI and they told me to return it to them without even asking anymore questions so I'm assuming this is a common problem that they are having to address with returns. The product may be great, but I have so far been very displeased with DJI support and the fact that a lot of people can't get the battery to work on brand new systems.

Worst Customer Service I Have Experienced
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased a DJI Phantom 4 drone at Best Buy a few months ago for $1,400.00. I didn't use it for a couple months and started using it about six weeks ago. Over the course of using it about 20 times, it malfunctioned on its own and crashed itself into a buildings and to the ground. On the second malfunction, it broke the gimbal. I went to Best Buy with the drone and they did everything they could to warranty the product, but they found that they were not allowed to offer a warranty because DJI does not stand by their product- even for their largest retailer, Best Buy (says a lot when the largest electronics store in the country is not allowed to stand behind a product). I returned the drone to DJI for repairs, explicitly explaining the details of the incident. DJI would not stand by their product. DJI blamed me when it was their product, specifically their forward motion sensors, that failed. The gimbal had been damaged in the crash and did not rotate left to right any more, but it was still attached to the drone by its bracket and servo. DJI took a number of weeks to run diagnostics- they did not run any repairs, I can only imagine how long that would have taken. I explained the situation to DJI, and was never listened to. I realized that the company would not stand by its product so I requested that they return my drone 'exactly as it was sent' if they were not going to fix it. A full week later, I received my drone and found that the camera was completely severed from the gimbal, except for the wire strip which was partially torn. Not only did they not repair my aircraft, they damaged it more, rendering it unusable! Hands down the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Lazy and inattentive staff. Long wait time. They won't stand by their product. They damaged my property while it was in their care. I am telling everyone I know about this, regardless if they are using a drone or planning to. Do not buy any product from DJI. There are much better competitors out there who will respect the price tag they place on their products and actually care about their customers. Best Buy management knew about and warned me of this marked lack of good business practices at DJI when I first considered returning the drone, I should have listened to them, I would have saved a lot of time and headaches. As I am writing this, I am on the phone with Best Buy to recommend they do not carry DJI's product any more. I will also be calling any and all other retailers I can find with DJI products and warning them about my experience. I tried to post my complaint to DJI, labeling all of the review site’s fields at the lowest rating (which was appropriate). I hit ‘submit’ and all I got was a small green label written in Chinese letters with a small ‘x’ button. DJI appears to have set up their review site not to accept poor ratings!

Can't Fly
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased, took home unpacked then loaded firmware update. Tried to complete the calibration in app. Completed but would not take. Took unit out to fly and I received a imu calibration and compass calibration error. I was able to calibrate imu but the prompts for the compass calibration never appeared. I tried to contact DJI but was unsuccessful. reloaded the original firm ware and every thing seemed to be working fine except I wasn't allowed to fly due to a necessary firmware update "the one that doesn't work. At this time I am still grounded with a "brand new aircraft".

Numerous Update and Calibration Issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I so wanted to love this drone, BUT... I unpacked the P4 to find a dead battery right out of the box. Found out online that this was not an isolated issue. Exchanged the entire drone for a new one at Best Buy. Took the second one home and began prepping for my first flight. First, the DJI Go app wouldn't recognize the drone. After an hour of troubleshooting, I finally just deleted the app and reloaded it. Success! I updated the firmware and tried to complete the calibration in the DJI Go app, but I kept receiving an incompatible device message (using an iPad Mini 2). I just continued with the update. Next, I received IMU calibration errors and compass calibration errors. I was able to calibrate IMU but the struggled to calibrate the compass. Finally everything seemed ready to go but then more problems: I could not access or view camera mode at all. Again, much troubleshooting and numerous suggested "fixes" for this issue listed online, but no resolution. After 6 hours of an attempt to set up the P4, I gave up. Instructions, written an online were extremely poor. Lots of guidance from Phantom 4 users and groups, but it was shocking that something so expensive did not come with adequate guidance or support, save for dedicated users. I'm a pretty tech-savvy guy, but Wow, my head was spinning. This never flew and I'm taking it back to Best Buy. I'm sure the Phantom is an amazing machine, but given all the headaches just trying to update and calibrate everything, it's not worth it.

Glitchy, and poor GPS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had nothing but problems with flight control on the 2 I bought. I returned them and went to another brand even thought the camera was much better on the 4. I had bad drifting issues with both but one of the it would rotate in a circle upon landing and I would have to catch it by hand. When I contacted DJI in there help forum they called me a liar and I don't know what I'm talking about. Never giving them my hard earned money again!

Nice Features but same old boring design!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Phantom 1, 2, vision, vision+, 3 and 4 almost look identical.. cheap toy looking. And why are these called phantom when they are clearly white? I was hoping DJI would have designed the new drone something out of a sci fi movie. A good example of a cool design would be Inspire 1 black edition and Q500 4K by Yuneec. Yeah, appearance is everything to me when it comes to drones. While Phantom 4 may have some good features, IT is UGLY. It's like owning a Pontiac Aztec with park assist, lane centering, night vision camera etc.
