Unable to connect
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It took me hours to try and connect my phone with the DJI Mimo app. Ultimately at the end I was unable to connect with the camera. The camera also only allows 5 attempts before it locks you out. I read a few online forums, sounds like this is an issue with android and the DJI Mimo app. Reading the forums, sounds like nothing DJI customer support can do after the camera locks up. Such a big disappointment as I was hoping to use this camera, looks like so much fun and great way for travel use. I had to return the camera at the end.

Posted .Dear customer,
sorry for the inconvenience caused.
The DJI Pocket 2 can record 4K 60fps video with a bit rate of up to 100 Mbps. The measured data volume of video files generated in one minute can reach 700 MB. It is normal for the product to emit heat when processing such a large amount of data in a short period of time.
DJI has paid special attention to this issue when designing the product. The newly added internal "T-shaped" passive heat dissipation will efficiently transfer heat to the metal heat dissipation area of the gimbal's pan axis base to ensure the normal operation of the product. After repeated tests, DJI has determined that the temperature of the handle area will stay within a reasonable range when recording, even if recording for a long time. Please feel free to use your product.
In addition, the device has a built-in overheating protection function. When the temperature reaches a certain level, the device will carry out self-protection to prevent the device from damage. Please rest assured.

Disappointing still AND video quality
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Compared to my 20.2MP Sony DSC-RX100, the pictures produced by the Pocket 2 (even when set to 64MP) look worse and when panning while shooting video (whether set to 2.7K or 4K), everything is out of focus.

Video Bloggers Need This
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There's a lot to like about DJI's Pocket 2. If your last "pocket camera" was the FlipHD, you're gonna be in for a shock at what the next generation of handheld cameras can do. The image stabilization aspect is a game-changer, and yes - your iPhone might be able to do SOME of that - but what your iPhone can't do is what this little camera specializes in. When DJI claims 3-axis rotation, they mean it. I handed the camera to my kindergartener who filmed a few minutes of Hotwheels cars riding on a track, following along with cars zipping along. The Pocket 2 was able to keep this hectic shot steady and the car mostly in-frame and my kindergartner was able to figure out how to set focus and change modes to get the desired shot with the touch-screen. Hobbyists will love the ability to create roaming shots, close follows, walk-and-talks that look like you have a full-on camera crew... tie it in with the app and connect it to your phone and you have a really solid setup for steadyshots beyond anything you have in your phone alone, especially in good lighting. If you can forgive the minimal instructions on unboxing (and have a microSD card ready), within about 15 minutes you'll be able to film shots that eluded you with more modest setups - and look a good deal more professional than you were previously capable of through your smartphone alone. My biggest complaints are that it doesn't ship with a MicroSD and the unboxing instructions are ridiculously vague. A minor complaint (but one that is common on this class of camera) is that low-light situations will not film well - you'll want good lighting to really take advantage of what the Pocket 2 can do. Everything else about this device is really well done. If you're wanting to be ready to go out of the box, you will also want some sort of squid tripod so you can do mounted follow shots (for what it's worth, the timelapse functionality is pretty stellar). The camera is exceedingly light, charges quickly, and is easy to use while walking because most functionality is accessible via the touch screen. I didn't have to tinker much while filming to get the shot I was after though - most of the setup is done with a few taps on the touchscreen. If you WANT the extra control of micromanaging the shot, you certainly can and DJI includes both a joystick and app controls through your smartphone (though not at the same time as they both use the front connector to do their magic). Similar to fancier cameras, it has a "Pro" mode that allows you to change settings to get a particular type of shot - this will be beyond the needs of most bloggers but squarely in the ream of hobbyist videographers who want to try something new without a ton of overhead requirements. The photo mode is just as solid, with a myriad of cool functions that rival your smartphone camera functionality. The audio quality is about what you'd expect, you'll still need a dedicated lav or shotgun boom for capturing dialog or interview-quality sound, but depending on your usage and the surrounding noise, it may be enough. The omnidirectional mics work well, but in the Creator Combo they have more options for wireless mics - and if you're doing anything more than family videos, you'll want the extra audio muscle. All in all: this is a handy and accessible new toolbox if you can't get the shots you want through your smartphone. Burgeoning filmographers will want the Pocket 2, but video bloggers (especially travel or event video bloggers) need this functionality to take their productions to the next level. DJI has delivered truly stunning tech in a tiny package. Pair it with your smartphone and rejoice at your new capabilities (it even includes a reasonable editor in the app, along with some other neat post-production functions, and a story mode which is similar to iMovie's templates).

Best all in one gimbal
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The DJI Pocket 2 is an easy to use gimbal that is difficult to beat. This is my first time using a gimbal stabilized video camera and I was very impressed. I tried making the video shaky by running and moving erratically, but the gimbal did its job and made everything buttery smooth. I wasn’t familiar with the three modes on the pocket 2 (follow, tilt locked, and FPV), but I got the hang of it within a few minutes. I will be using each of these modes for content creation as they play extremely well the 24 FPS to create a cinematic feel. One reminder is a microSD card is not included and the card can easily be exposed to water damage so I recommend not using this in the rain, unless you also have the waterproof case. The DJI pocket shoots in 4k, 2.2k, and 1080p, however you only get HDR at 2.7K and 1080p. One thing most content creators will enjoy is the universal option of 24 FPS across all resolutions, but if you want slow-mo you’ll be locked into 1080p. I tend to opt for 24 FPS whenever possible for the softer/more intimate video feel and it is always a good thing when you have a wider set of video options. Speaking of wider options, the field-of-view on the pocket two is great for getting landscapes shots or for vlogging while walking around. Whether I was hiking up or down a mountain, the video stayed extremely stable and captured a lot of the surrounding environment. The audio capture is also very good on the DJI pocket 2 since it has 4 microphones. For example, I hate it when people are loud and ruin the quiet hiking experience for others so I greatly appreciated that the DJI pocket was able to pick up on my voice when I was quietly talking in an effort to not disturb fellow hikers! I decided to test the microphones in a noisy environment so I walked along a busy street with loud cars and the DJI pocket was able to reasonable block out the loud cars and pick up on my voice. As for the audio, the 4 mics did a good job at making sure I could be heard in loud urban environments and on a quiet mountain hike which shows the power of having so many microphones. The DJI pocket is going to improve my video content creation, however I see myself still using my iPhone for pictures. The DJI pocket 2 is small enough that I don’t mind carrying it in addition to my iPhone, and the wide angle is extremely useful in small get togethers or panoramic scenes outdoors. In addition, I will be using the DJI pocket for documenting my travels since there is nothing out there as compact, with as many features, and with this level of stabilization. If you intend on travelling in a rainy area then I highly recommend picking up the waterproof case.

Super Cool, Super Small, Super Confused
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TLDR: If you are looking for a super small, super cool, stabilized video system that takes great videos in well-lit situations, go out and get the DJI Pocket 2. You will be very happy with it. If the super small, super cool part isn't as important to you as video quality and you already have a smart phone that takes great video, perhaps hold off (or else you are going to need some accessories). I was super stoked when I received the DJI Pocket 2. These have always been that one item that I keep walking by in the store, checking it out, thinking of all the blockbuster movies I could film with it (of my cat of course). I would keep swinging by on multiple visits even though I was intimately aware of how it looked and worked, but I was always trying to justify the purchase. C'mon, there are a lot of you out there that do the same thing. I've seen a few of you doing it as well. I got the box in the mail and I was flabbergasted at how small the box is. Despite knowing that the Pocket 2 is small, I did not realize just how compact they could get that thing and its accessories in a box. Unpacking the box though, immediately shows you just how easy it would be to travel with the Pocket 2 because it will hardly take up any room in your bags or even your coat pocket! And if that is what you are looking for, an awesome camera that is perfect for recording your trips, your family, your life while out and about, go out and buy the Pocket 2 right now, you won't regret it. Here are all the things to love about the Pocket 2: 1. Even in its case, with all of the accessories in the box (with the exception of the power cord) stuffed in there, this thing is ultra-portable. Can it fit in your jeans pocket, probably not unless you wear them extremely baggy. But it is perfect for a cargo pocket, a jacket pocket, or a purse/murse/fanny pack. 2. The stabilization is no joke on this thing. All the different modes give you a wealth of opportunities for capturing your videos with flare and not a lick of nausea inducing camera jiggle. 3. Outdoors or indoors in bright light, the video quality of the Pocket 2 is phenomenal. At 4K and 60 FPS, I took some beautiful footage of some hummingbirds in my tree out back. It was straight out of Planet Earth. I just need David Attenborough to narrate for me! 4. Ready to go in an instant. This is actually where I think the Pocket 2 excels. You can whip this out of your pocket, hit one button and be ready to film in seconds. Even if you have a nice smartphone, it usually not that easy to get it going and filming straight out of your pocket. If that checks all your boxes, go out and buy the Pocket 2. Like I said above, you will be super happy with it and have a blast taking videos and still with great abandon. If you want to know what is keeping the Pocket 2 from receiving a full 5-Stars from me, and why I think it might not be for everyone, read on while I run through my issues. 1. The tiny, tiny screen on the Pocket 2. Trust me, I am well aware that a tiny device like this will have a tiny screen if it has one at all. The problem is, if you are using this as a stand-alone camera if can be hard to frame your shots nicely if you are a guy in his late 40's like me. I have 20/20 distance vision, but up close, I need readers. When I downloaded my video of the hummingbirds to my iMac, I could see that I could have done a much better job framing the shots if I had been able to see better details. A lot of people would just say: 'Use the included phone adaptor you knuckle-head, that's what it is for.' To which I would reply: 'Kinda doesn't make it as compact or easy to have ready at a moment's notice.' 2. The phone adaptor requires you to have a 'naked' phone for it to seat properly. I have the new iPhone 12 Pro and so it has the really nice flat sides that make it perfect for sitting connecting flush with the Pocket 2. Problem is, any case I have on it, the Apple Mag-Safe one that I ended up storing or the full protection one (that actually covers the whole bottom of the phone) that is on there right now, would not allow the Lightning connector to properly seat. I had to take my iPhone out of its case completely and attach it to the Pocket 2 to use it as a screen/controller. While the DJI MIMO software makes it super easy to act as your viewfinder/monitor/controller, you gotta have it plugged in and that makes the Pocket 2 a much bigger device for filming than just using the phone. Plus, it freaks me out that my very expensive phone is unprotected. Even with the case off you are probably going to want the Pocket 2 Phone Clip to secure everything and pretty much turn this whole setup into a modern camcorder. Seriously, this accessory is almost mandatory if you are using the Pocket 2 with your phone. 2. The Mini Control Stick that comes with the Pocket 2 is great if you aren't going to have it plugged into your phone, but it really needs to be a combo between the Mini Control Stick and the Pocket Control Wheel. That way you can control the movements of the gimbal with the stick and zoom/roll with the wheel. Neither one of these two accessories gives you absolute control without switching modes on the fly. Sorry, I'm old school and I like all my controls at a touch and not have to switch modes and such. If they would combine to two accessories into one with a wheel, stick, and selector button, it would be phenomenal, but they haven't yet. 3. Low light situations rapidly degrades the quality of the video. I did a tour of my house, which has a ton of windows and lots of ambient light flooding in. The footage was really cool like I had a drone zooming around. Wait.... that would make me the drone. Oh well. But when I was viewing the footage on my large computer screen, I could watch as noise quickly set in whenever I left anything but brilliant light. Now I was able to smooth that out with some processing in iMovie (there is no desktop software from DJI for the Pocket 2 - only on the phone), it was still a bit disappointing. Now I know that this thing has a relatively tiny sensor and noise is an issue for many DSLRs with sensors ten times as large, but it is an issue, and I would be remiss not to note it in my review. Conclusion: Whew! Almost done. This is where my confusion sets in. With everything I know now about the Pocket 2, I really wonder who this is for. The only thing I can think that the Pocket 2 is perfect for right out of the box is someone who is going to be outside in bright sunlight with perfect up-close vision who needs to be able to whip this out and start filming at a moment’s notice. So, a skateboarder? A teenager out with their friends? I don't know. If you have needs beyond that, you are going to need to use your phone, which REQUIRES the clip unless you really don't care about your phone. But if you do care about your phone, you probably have a pretty nice one which probably has some pretty good cameras on it as well, so really you just need the stabilization, which DJI has you covered with their new OM 4 Stabilizer. All-in-all, the Pocket 2 is a cool little camera with a ton of tricks up its sleeve but some pretty serious limitations on what it can do out of the box.

Incredible features and picture quality!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The DJI Pocket 2 camera is incredible! I took my family out for a trip to Yosemite this past weekend, and brought along my DJI Pocket 2 camera to test it out. The setup is a breeze. Just download the app, use the included phone attachment (iPhone or UCB-C), download updated firmware, and I was up and running in no-time. The app is easy to navigate, and you can access the manual, and just about anything DJI Pocket 2 related on the app. Also, remember to purchase a micro sd card when purchasing the camera, as that is not included. the DJI Pocket 2 can hold a micro sd card with a max capacity of 256gb. The DJI Pocket 2 was so easy to handle and lightweight, so this was a big plus. Forget about those selfie sticks, the DJI Pocket 2 can do that and more. I love the motorized stabilization feature on this camera. No more having to worry about shaky hands and butchered videos. The DJI Pocket 2 takes care of that. I shot a video moving the camera quickly through a video shoot, and when I looked at the video on my phone, I was surprised at how the video quality came out great. No shaky footage, and the 4k shot makes the video look incredible. It is truly incredibly how there is so much function built into a camera with just a few buttons. Although there are buttons, the screen is touchscreen, and I must say that the touchscreen functions works incredibly great for such a small screen. I haven't had a problem navigating my fat fingers through the screen. Another incredible thing is the carrying case and its functionality. You can carry multiple attachments (wide-angle lens (not included), phone adapters, DJI camera stand, etc.) within the case itself! This thing is great! Overall, I love the DJI Pocket 2 camera. IT is easy to handle and the video and picture quality is amazing. I would definitely recommend the DJI Pocket 2 camera to anyone. It would make an incredible gift for anyone this holiday.

Tiny but Powerful
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setup with this was a BREEZE. I use an iPhone 11 currently. The first thing I did after opening this up was to scan the QR code and download the app to my phone. From there the app walked me through everything. There were tutorial videos that pop up first. You can also vie them on YouTube any time too. They were great for walking me through the set up process. The camera comes with 2 adapters to connect to your phone, one is USB-C and the other USB Lightning. Since I have an iPhone I used the Lighting connecter. It connected to my phone (and the app) instantly. Very intuitive. The camera by itself can seem a little small but wow does it have a great resolution, hello 4K. I really like having it docked on my phone when recording. It makes me feel like I am shooting Hollywood videos. My first recording was on 1080p and 30 fps. I recorded for 8 minutes and it used about 5% of the battery. My second recording was on 4k and 60fps and it used about another 10% of battery. This should not come as a surprise that using 4K would take more battery. The battery is not removeable so you will need to keep an eye on your batter life or have a portable battery back nearby to plug in and charge as needed if you plan to use it for long periods throughout the day. The tracking during recording is very smooth. It really does reduce the shake from your You can flip the camera from front to rear while recording. The camera works just as well as a stand alone, though the touchscreen is only 1". The screen is very responsive to my touch so I had no issue navigating the different settings on the device. You will need to provide a MicroSD card. One is not included. So be sure you have one handy or pick one up before you use the camera. With the holidays right around the corner I am excited to see how our family videos turn out this year with our new camera.

Amazing camera!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first thing that impressed me about this camera is the size! It truly is amazing how small it is. My hand seems huge while holding it! The video quality is amazing! With and advertised 64MP camera, every detail is visible! I love that now, when I record video, the footage is so stable that it doesn't make you dizzy watching it! The camera has a small touch screen that allows you to view video or pictures while filming or photographing. The camera view is small but that is to be expected with this small of a video camera. It comes with multiple attachments that allow you to connect the camera directly to an iPhone or Android phone (lightning or USB-C). That is the only feature I have a complaint about. The camera adapter that connects to my android device is too short. I have a phone case on my android phone and, in order from me to use the adapter, I have to take the phone out of the case. This is not convenient or safe for my phone! The camera comes with several other items in the box. It has a thick plastic case that it fits in to keep it safe while not in use. It also comes with a lanyard to attach to your hand while using it so you do not drop the camera. The camera required an update out of the box through the DJI Mimo App. It does not come with a micro SD card so you will have to supply that for yourself. The micro SD card also needs to be high speed, or the camera will display a message that the micro SD card is slow. All in all, this is a very versatile camera that can make certain tasks, like panoramic photos and time lapse photos, a breeze!

Compact and takes great pictures and video
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unboxing was easy and the setup directions were decent. The app download went fairly quickly and we were up and running in a couple of minutes. The controls are simple and there are online videos to guide you through setup and use. Video download and editing was also pretty straight forward. The self levelling gimbal feature is a huge improvement over shooting video with just a phone - shaky hands or being on the move doesn't affect the video quality and stability. The carrying case is slim and after a little practice easy to use; it's basically a slip over cover with one side open for access and is a bit of a tight fit. The battery life was OK; after carrying and trying it out for about 2 hours it was down to just 15%. Fortunatley, the recharge was about the same length of time as my cell phone, probably an hour or a little more. The only thing that was a bit off-putting was that the unit gets warm/hot in the screen area after just a few minutes of use, so you'll want to use the tripod (or a glove) if you are planning on shooting for more than a few minutes. It cools down quickly though. Overall, a very handy video option with nice design and features, other than the unit getting warm rather quickly, I was very happy with this camera and can't wait to use it on holiday or travelling.
