At first, was little confused to set it up. After I figure out, it was easy and functioning well. Good quality. Little heavy but durable.

Works with BMPCC 4k

This works with my Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k. Just make sure to use the extra base plate provided with the Ronin and slide it to the opposite direction to not hit the gimbal arm. Out of the box, the BMPCC 4k is too wide. I'm also using the Core Powerbase Edge for BMPCC 4k. Just mount it as show in the attached photo from CoreSWX's Instagram account. You will need a D-tap to BMPCC 4k connector that can easily be found on major online websites. The Ronin itself is great once you get the hang of balancing it correctly.

Great Piece of Equipment So Far

I've only used the Ronin S twice now so I'm still getting the hang of it.
I've seen so many reviews detailing how incredibly heavy it is and I have to disagree. Perhaps my expectations were inflated as I struggle to hold my Glidecam for more than a few minutes. I'm a 5'9'' female who weighs 120 lbs just to give you an idea. However, this is the first 3-axis gimble I've ever tried.
Yes it's not a light piece of equipment but, unlike the Glidecam, for example, you can use both hands to hold the Ronin S, and every once in a while switch to one if and when needed. I adore the SPORT feature as it allows the camera to move with you more rapidly and more deliberately.
Balancing the camera was surprisingly easier than I thought it would be. Just watch the tutorials online and set it up along with them. It does take some practice but not an overwhelming amount, and it gets easier each time.
You can even pop open the handle into 3 legs into a mini tripod and move the gimble using the joystick on the gimble, as well as move it directly on your smart phone using their app. Definitely take advantage of the amazing features of the app.
I'm still new to this and have a lot to learn. One thing I struggled with my second time using the Ronin is this semi robotic shake of the camera I got when I was walking with it very steadily. It could be a calibration or setting issue, as I don't recall this issue the first time I used it. I still need to work that out.
Storage is a bit of a hassle as you have to disassemble all the balance settings when you pack it up. So I try just holding onto it gently when traveling from place to place if I'm still going to be using it.
Very satisfied with this piece of equipment for the price and its SIZE. You don't feel like you're lugging around a whole film crew with you but you do still feel like a badass using it.

replaced by Crane V2 and 2

So i initially purchased the Crane v2 which i used for about a year, then when moving to a sony camera with a GM lens i needed to upgrade. So naturally i went with the Crane 2 initially, but after using the Ronin-S for just a few days i ended up sending the crane 2 back. Even though it doesn't have native Sony support or a focus motor initially its is just so much easier to balance and offers so many more features.

It produces very smooth video (even when running). So if you want smooth video, this gimbal is for you. The apps works great, has a lot of nice features, and even allows manual tweaking of the motor parameters. To control Canon camera (like 80D), you need to put the IR cable near the camera's optical sensor, which is annoying and cumbersome - note, you can only control the start/stop recording. The main drawback is its weight. I use 80D and Tokina 11-20mm f2.8 with this gimbal and it already feels very heavy - so i wouldn't recommend any setup heavier than this. Overall, I'm enjoy using this gimbal so far.

The DJI Ronin S takes stable video footage and its design let's you take creative shots from above the crowd and low to the ground quickly and easily. The battery lasted for a whole day (11 hours) shooting weddings. There is a learning curve on using the gimbal and balancing it takes some practice. Once I felt comfortable with it, I have been using it almost every weekend.

Been searching for a gimbal for a while to shoot videos with and came across this one. Took a while to calibrate at first but was impressed with the quality of the product. It's very easy to use and very self-explanatory. The app that comes with the gimbal makes it even easier to use as well. No problems with the item yet.

I was watching this for a while and when the price came down $200 I decided to purchase it and it works great. I've read all of the reviews and yes it might be a little heavy after a while but it still is a workhorse and quiet as a mouse. Easy to control and smooth shots once you get the hang of how it works. Nice.

Great stabilizer for beginners

The Ronin S is an amazing stabilizer. It gets the job done, it’s easy to use and you only probably need the battery that comes with it. It lasts a long time for a thing that last for 12hrs. For a first time user for a stablizer it’s pretty easy to understand. The only con about it is the cable of what it’s compatible with and the carrying case that’s all really.

I am a semi-pro videographer and this being my first gimbal made life much easier. It's easy to setup - the balancing takes a bit of practice but there are tons of good tutorials on YouTube. The functionalities can't be beaten for it's range. Great build quality. Very happy with it.

This is a monstrous handheld gimbal! I would recommended it for DSLR user not for mirrorless user... it doesn't balance on light weight cameras alike the Canon M50. DJI is going to release a weight to balance it but this mean more cost so I returned otherwise is a great product.

The Ronin S was exactly what I needed when I wanted to be quick and light on shoots. I have a Ronin MX but it’s huge and requires more time to setup. I’ve been able to use my Sony a7sii and Sony FS5 on the Ronin S without much fuss. Definitely recommended.

If you enjoy making video with your camera this is a must have. It is pretty heavy but it's also sturdy and amazingly easy to handle. It takes a little bit of time to set it up but theres plenty of YouTube videos to help you out if you're not used to gimbals.

This gimbal can hold a lot of weight and it makes your footage super smooth! The battery life is great and I can shoot for hours before needing to charge. The newest firmware allows me to pull focus with my Sony A7III using the supplied cable.

The build quality is very good. All the parts are carefully machined with very clean lines and markings. It has a quality feel to it. I like that. All the knobs lock down easily and adjusting all the axes is nice and smooth.

Heavy! But solid. If you know you need this, get it. I tried it as a hobbyist and actually never looked forward to using it. Setup takes time, the weight is awkward. But if you need gimbal, this is the one to get. It can do some amazing features. I just didnt find myself needing a gimbal.

Great, Solid Gimbal

I've used the Ronin-S for couple shoots so far and I have to say it's the best gimbal I've ever used. The construction is very solid and feels good in hand. It's is a bit heavier than say the Crane, but I think that just makes it feel more solid. This gimbal has a different speed modes, but the sport mode is a standout. If you want to capture something fast moving and need that instant control over the footage, just hold the mode switch button and away you go.
It can be a little difficult to get used to balancing. It has a bit of a learning curve compared to the Crane. But once you get it down it's a cinch. This is a problem with most cases that come with these devices, but you have to store it a certain way, and so if you are moving to another shooting location and you want to keep it safe in the foam case, you'll have to compromise your balance settings and repeat the setup process at the new location. That said, DJI includes a nice foam case, just like they do with their drones. So if you can't afford something better for the time being, it will definitely do the job.
I highly recommend this gimbal and can't wait to use it more this summer on the wedding circuit. Cheers!

I Wish the 3d lidar focus module was compatible with this model. For that reason I Found out real quick why there's a significant price difference between the rs and the rsc2.
The gimbal itself is next level. The axis locking mechanisms are a necessity. Raveneye is overrated Hopefully a few firmware updates and it'll be pretty nice. The best part about raveneye is using active track without having your phone attached to the top of your cameras cold/hit shoe, leaving room for audio solutions and the like.
Using it with a gh5 primarily with a leica 12-60mm f2.8 so it can handle a significant payload.
The focus system is nice having the wheel in the trigger finger position. The screen is small and the navigation wheel seems a bit outdated to be used on this piece of gear. You can control the follow focus remotely though the app while using raveneye, which is cool. It can also focus vintage/cine manual focus lenses using the trigger focus wheel.
