As his kingdom is being threatened by the Turks, young prince Vlad Tepes must become a monster feared by his own people in order to obtain the power needed to protect his own family, and the families of his kingdom.

This is the missing piece to most of the Dracula stories. The origin of how it started was always shaky. Going into why would anyone want to become a monster is complicated and as we learn it is to protect his "tribe". There's a lot of action and drama. Great camera work too.

The movie was fantastic but for me I believe they could have showed more deleted stuff. In other words, there was an alternate beginning which was very interesting to see. If you're a Dracula fan well you'll also love this early trick or treat movie in your horror collection.

The movie has a good storyline. It is different from previous story re. Dracula. There are some great moments in the film that keeps you awake. The musical scores are also enticing. The picture quality was excellent. Worth a movie to watch and enjoy.

I found this movie to be an interesting version of Dracula. It wasn't a scary movie but one more of story telling, history and action. The movie portrayed him in a different light. I had rented it and I liked it enough to purchase it.

Dracula is just a man who loves his family, Charles Dance tried to suck him into his trap, Bard the Bowman (Dracula) will go to any length to keep his people safe. I think this movie was a little underrated, I am glad I picked this one up, missed it in the theatres

I really liked this movie even though it was critically panned. This isn't the "typical" Dracula/Vampire movie, so as long as you don't have that expectation I think it will make the movie more enjoyable. This is definitely one I will watch again.

The franchise itself makes this movie one of many adaptations of the story of the legendary vampire, yet it brings it's own appeal to a newer generation by staying true to some of the history, and bringing in the usage of CGI to make it appealing to the masses.

This was definitely a surprising origin tale of the origin of a classic character. We have always seen stories where hes already established as the lord of darkness or whatever, but this delves into HOW or rather WHY he got there. And it was very enjoyable.

I liked it if only for the fact that it provided more of the actually history of Vlad the Impailer. Maybe a little over the top in the battle scene special effects of one guy against legions all in the '300" style. Okay! I still liked it.

A dark twist on the Dracula legend with a bit more of historical references concerning the actual time, places and facts. Special effects were beautiful and tear or 2 actually fell during Elizabeta's death scene. Over all enjoyable.

This new iteration of the Dracula tale takes on a new twist on why Vlad Tepes became Vlad Dracul. It is closest to Gary Oldman's vampire character with a lot more humanizing of the famed vampire. It's a pleasing difference and should be a hit with enthusiasts.

New approach to the Dracula legend. Good story line and special effects. Bonus features included information on making some of the scenes of the movie.

I really enjoyed this movie. Having been a Dracula and vampire movie buff for many years, this movie gave the background which is usually just mentioned or vaguely spoken of in other movies. Very nicely done, good special effects and a nice acting job by all.

a dark and entertaining story, that doesn't leave you with purely the original story. they took a creative approach to the Dracula story and made it worth watching. it is not something amazing or mesmerizing, but is just a fun watch.

The movie is very original and a different take on Dracula's origin. I thought it was very interesting to better understand Vlad's background and better understand his motives. The movie has potential for a sequel and a great start to another franchise.

I guess this is going to be the next chapter of this legend. True it's a slow start, but it's a very intriguing interpretation on the legend. It will grab your attention and make you look twice at the legend you thought you knew.

This is not Twilight nonsense. It tells the story (though not completely) of Vlad, the origin of the Vampire story.

Just because this movie stars Luke Evans as the lead, I give it 5 stars. Their has been countless movies made about the dark blood sucking demon, but this movie does tell his story in a different light with excellent visual and special effects.

For those who like this genre of movie, it's very well done, quite entertaining and a twist on the original of which many versions have been made. We loved it and recommend it to people who like Dracula type movies.
