What an awesome movie just as good if not better than

great movie with tons of action. this is a classic

Dredd is a movie nobody expected much of. The trailers were awful and the original Judge Dredd movie with Sylvester Stallone was still on people's minds. But when the movie came out, those who actually saw it were blown away. Dredd feels like it would be right at home alongside action masterpieces of the 80's such as Commando and Predator. The goofy sci-if setting, the cheesy one liners and badass stoic protagonist all just reek of the 80's and yet here it is in the 21st century. If movies like that are your cup of tea then there is endless enjoyment to be found in dark bloody corridors of Dredd. The setting is claustrophobic and intense, the action scenes are completely practical and exhilarating and Karl Urban as Judge Dredd deserves to go down in history as one of the all time great action heroes.

I had read that some people had trouble getting this DVD to play. I was worried, but I bought it anyway. I had no trouble. I watched the film with my wife, my cousin, and his wife. We all liked it. We weren't expecting Shakespeare, and frankly, we didn't want Shakespeare! The film was not cheesy at all. The plot was good. The acting was fine. It was a little strange that you never got to see Judge Dredd's face - he keeps his helmet mask on through the entire film - but that was not an issue for us. The best part was the 3D. The effects were probably the best of any of my 3D blu-rays except Avatar.

The steelbook artwork alone made me want to buy this day 1! Mexifunk did an incredible job with The Ghost in the Shell steelbook and he knocked out of the park with this one as well. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is because my steel arrived with two small dents. Best Buy needs to do a better jobs on their packaging of steelbooks. There are so many collectors that preorder from BB and have to cross their fingers to hope that their steelbook does not arrive with any dents.

Karl Urban nails the role in this adaption from comic to realistic live action. A more gritty and dystopian near future where, the powers of law enforcement is dispensed by street judges, this film gives us a dark vision of society in decay and ruin with the glimmer of hope in the eyes of a rookie judge. If you like Robocop and Diehard, this hard hitting action film is for you minus the humor and comedy relief. A must see! I have the blu ray already back on original release. Too bad Best Buy failed to make a Steelbook for the 4K version!

An amazing film housed within an equally amazing steelbook... and in 4k no less... what's not to love? Even if you already own this cyber-punk postmodern classic, the combination of breathtaking audio-visuals and the stunning steelbook are more than enough reason to double dip. And if you haven't as of yet added this incredible film to your collection then this is the version you've been waiting for... treat yourself, feast your eyes, sit back and prepare for movie greatness.

First off, I really enjoy this movie! And as for value, not only do you get it in non-3-D, you also get the 3-D version on the same disk. And along with that you have an option to see it in a digital copy, either iTunes or ultraviolet! Although I believe only the non-3-D version is available as a digital copy. I think that the image on the dist look excellent. I only wish I could report on how the 3-D did, but sadly I don't own a 3-D TV as of yet. And as for extras, you get to see the history of Dread, how the visuals were done, and a number of other things that I think you'll enjoy very much. All in all, I think this disk is a tremendous value, which I purchased at Best Buy for $10!

This movie is not going to win any awards and will probably not impress anyone looking for some mind-blowing sci-fi adventure that makes you ask questions. But, if you're looking for some down and dirty action with a no-nonsense silly character, then it's hard not to like Dredd. It's a satire that knows how silly it is, and understands the source material. It has no frills and was made on the cheap, but it is one of my favorites and is an absolutely good time while it's on.

I saw that my Netflix recommendations gave this a perfect 5 star rating so I watched it. 95 minutes later I sat on my couch like I just had a religious experience. Bought it the next day. One of the best action films in years hands down. Karl Urban's Eastwood impression (not BatBale!) is spot on and gives the tone a darkly comic edge. Better than the Stallone abomination in every way. After watching this I actually wanted to know more about Dredd's history. Isn't that proof enough the movie is a success? Sound quality is insane. The 7.1 mix is without a doubt one of the most active, aggressive mixes I've ever heard. I honestly can't wait to show this to friends.

I wasn't initially sold on this when I first heard of the movie years back, but when I saw it, I was pleasantly surprised. Karl Urban is an amazing actor and fit well in the boots of Judge Dredd. Lena HEady as Ma-Ma was a treat to see and I can only hope that we get much more of Urban as the titular character to come! The great thing about this release is that not only do you get a stunning looking 4K UHD transfer of Dredd, but for those that still have and love stereoscopic 3D, the 3D version of the movie is included as well. Definitely worth a buy, no questions asked!

When I first saw Dredd 3D advertised for the movies a few years back, I had no interest. When it came to Redbox I had little interest. I broke down and watched it when it came on cable or Netflix, when nobody else was home and was pleasantly surprised. It is a straight up shoot-em-up movie. Not nearly the story of the original movie, but very entertaining for what it is. I actually watched it several times on Netflix with other family members, then bought it when I found the 3D version plus Ultraviolet version on sale. The cinematography is surprisingly stunning. It's a shoot-em-up movie that looks very good, and has just enough of a story.

When Dredd was first announced as being made I asked...why?? Everyone remembers that Sylvester Stallone flick...I'll just leave that there. I just recently saw this movie about a year ago and was absolutely blown away. Right off the bat, it starts off intense and in your face. The action is high quality...every time you see through the eyes of a Kick user time slows and the average and normal becomes brilliant and dazzling...regardless of the scenario the user is in!! The best way to describe the movie is Fun...a good shoot em up with a solid plot...definitely gave some justice(no pun intended) to a very quality and influential comic.

Dredd is based off of the 2000 AD comic Judge Dredd. Dredd is set in a futuristic Earth where most of the United States is a radiation wasteland. The population lives in mega cities where one building would be like a small town. The police consist of judges who pronounce sentencing on the spot, even death. The story follows Judge Dredd who is working with a rookie judge. The story is nonstop action almost from the get go. If you liked The Raid: Redemption you would love this movie. Similar premise but both movies were actually shot at the same time. There is a petition for a Dredd sequel that Karl Urban (Judge Dredd) along with the film makers support.

This movie is actually a rip off from the Indonesian movie The Raid: Redemption....maybe rip off is a strong word lets say it was inspired by it. I watched The Raid and it was a very good movie and I highly recommend it. For $4 for a 3D movie I thought why not...but I was pleasantly impressed with the 3D and the story. I had very low expectations of how the movie will be because I thought it was a remake of the original Sylvester Stallone one but the story was different and acting was good. For a Dredd fan I would recommend a watch and FYI there is a sequel in the making which is due 2017.

Almost everyone has seen the latest super hero movies. Words like witty, cute, charming and action-packed come to mind about today's slew of PG-13, family friendly action movies. Well this is NOT that! This is a grown-up, tear your face off, punch you in the throat kind of action movie. Leave the kids out of this one! Character development? Who cares!?! People are being shot to literal pieces! And the whole premise of the movie centers around a drug that makes everything go 4x slower than usual to the user. That plus extreme violence equals BEAUTIFUL 3D! If you're cool with graphic violence and language, this movie is really great. And the 3D can't be beat!

Excellent acting. Awesome production design. Special effects used very well along with everything shot in-camera. This is a film for adult's and is taken seriously, with some slight dark comedy moments.. Picture on the disc is really good, has some grain to it. Audio is a great Atmos mix. Only downside is the digital code. Redeeming on Vudu via Lionsgate's page did not unlock the UHD version. But that isn't Vudu's doing.

The picture quality on the 4k disc is nothing to write home about honestly. It is almost too grainy in some spots. However the atmos sound track could be worth the price of admission even if the screen were blank throughout the whole movie. The height channels seem like they do almost as much work as the surrounds. It's a great experience. As a side bonus: the Blu-ray disc does in fact include the 3d version of the movie as well. It's too bad it doesn't also have the atmos sound track because that would be THE ultimate way to watch the movie.

This is an action packed movie that is full of guns and a whole case of whoop (blank). When I watch this movie I can't help but think of an old Kid Rock song, I am American bad (blank). Its just a non stop action movie. However, there is some room for improving the plot and script, but sometimes it's nice to just watch something for action. I do wish they would have turned out into a series, but it seems that its a one and done movie. Don't get this movie mixed up with the Judge Dredd from the 90's, because it's in a different level. Worth your time.
