First off, the film is great! The story telling isn't traditional so be aware of that. There isn't a real protagonist it's more of the experience and different perspectives of this event. The visuals are stunning and crystal clear, particularly in 4k (even though the blu ray is superb as well). The audio is just as dynamic and clean but it can be loud (intentionally made that way). The Has Zimmer score will test your system. By far the best 4k to show off your 4k/HDR TV and rock the bass in your subs.

A kind of mellow dramatic account of British and French troops desperately retreating from oncoming German troops in the early days of WW2. With a fleet of privately owned British boats and ships of both pleasure and commercial fishing classes

    A Visceral Masterpiece

Christopher Nolan is one of the best writer/directors of all time, and Dunkirk is arguably his best film yet. A short but hauntingly gritty look at the Dunkirk evacuation, told in a "triptych" form that takes three different viewpoints during the event: one on the beaches over the course of a week, one at sea over the course of a day, and the final POV from the air, over the course of an hour. Everything about the film is phenomenal, from the sound design that flows seamlessly with the musical score, to the cinematography and absence of dialogue. This film is a must-own, and the 4K UHD blu-ray is perfect.

    Dunkirk Blu ray Review

The picture quality on the blu ray is fantastic as is the same with all Nolan films the imax shots are vivid and really can be mistaken by an untrained eye as 4k shots. The blu ray also includes a special features disc with art unlike most bland blu ray releases. The sound mix is crisp and clear although I feel the right speaker set up would take full advantage of the audio track. The film itself is great and tense and any fan of history or nolan should definitely check it out.

The more you watch the better it gets

The movie is 3 three different stories covering an hour, a day, and a week during the Dunkirk rescue. The stories are also intermixed, so a focused scene in one story is a backdrop in another story. For example, civilians on a small boat make a comment on three planes flying overhead and later in the movie you see a pilot in the cockpit of one of the planes, and in the background outside the cockpit, you see the small boat. Very subtle, and the movie is full of scenes like that. The more you watch the movie, the more you spot intermixed scenes, and the more you appreciate the movie.

Dunkirk: a Moving Piece of History

The name Dunkirk is familiar to followers of WWII history, but what it was about is unknown to most others here is the USA, since it occurred before the United States entered the war. In 1940 the British had to evacuate France because of the German heavily armed advance into that country. The troops were stuck on the beach on the French coast with only the English channel between them and home. The week it took to rescue the survivors off that beach is the story of Dunkirk and it is magnificently portrayed in this film from several perspectives. One of 2017's ten best films.

Fantastic movie from start to finish. Christopher Nolan does a fantastic job recreating such a tense and uncertain time in history. A lot of people felt should have shown more about the French and Dutch soldiers there with the British, trying to jam so much content into a certain time frame can be very hard. He chose to go with how the English citizenry came in their soldiers hour of need and with great risks to themselves came and rescued well over 350,000 (yes that's right Three Hundred Fifty Thousand) soldiers and brought them to safety.

I saw the movie on the big screen. I try to see all Christopher Nolan's movies on the big screen. Dunkirk was an excellent movie to see on the big screen. The sound and visuals were outstanding. The score by Hans Zimmer was absolutely amazing, specially in the opening scene. I liked the movie a lot, however, Dark Knight, Inception, and Prestige are still the top three Nolan's movies for me. The Blu Ray disc with the bonus Digital HD copy is an excellent disc with great audio and video quality. This movie is excellent and I highly recommend it. Go for it.

Aircraft Lover's Cinematic Flight Dream Film

The reason I love this movie is due to the flight scenes contained therein. As a fan of airplanes - and especially the Spitfire - the dogfight sequences ticked all the right boxes for me. When I first saw the trailer for Dunkirk, the minimal footage of the Spitfires was sufficient to give me goosebumps and put a smile on my face. Having the full length film in all of its 4K glory.... Ooooo! If you loved movies such as Battle of Britain or Spitfire (First of the Few), then you might just maybe perhaps love this masterpiece as well.

This is one of the most beautiful looking movies I have ever seen. This is a fairly short movie from Christopher Nolan, clocking in around 1 hour and 45 minutes. Some war movies can be gory, which is not my thing, but not this one. The movie shows you just enough and let’s your imagination fill in some details. This isn’t a typical action movie so don’t expect a lot of action scenes like in Saving Private Ryan. Nolan once again plays with time in this movie, which might be confusing if you don’t know that heading into your viewing.

The 4K disk had a few issues with balance in my 4K player, a lot of noise. However, the Blu-ray disk had zero issues in the same machine. The movie itself was an interesting account of the historical events during the battle at Dunkirk. The director did jump all over the place in the events. It wasn't until half way through it my wife understood the earlier events were the later events and visa versa. It was as if was a recall of events from differ participants eyes (without warning really). I would recommend the movie for a history buff or just to see the carnage inflicted on the English, during that battle.

Although the military terms did not make sense to me, Nolan might have done a good job making the movie. I just wish terms and definitions were more clear. Also, the movie should have been longer.
