One of the best films of the decade and a paragon in how practicality can trump oversaturated special effects.

On the 205" screen (Epson 1080P) this movie is an adrenalin rush. In addition to an excellent story that is well composed and executed, you are treated to awe inspiring quality visuals that are best served on a large dispaly. The sound is equally impressive with fantastic amplitude range and low frequency components that bring the experience to life. Not only do you feel the explosions but on one scene, I felt a draft in the room - all produced by the sub-sonic component of this movie. The movie changes aspect ratio but I screened it at 2.4:1 using the anamorphic lens so during a few scenes I was cropping the top and bottom of the image. This was only noticeable a few times during aerial battles when some aircraft all but left the screen. If you have an anamorphic screen, I would recommend watching the movie in the occasionally cropped 2.40:1 aspect ratio. I also watched this movie not cropped on a 4k television with a run of the mill 7.1 sound system. Although this movie was still an outstanding work of art, well worth watching, it was not the same experience on a smaller uhd hdr lcd with a less capable sound system.

A fine telling of one of the greatest stories from the early days of WW2. A masterpiece of film-making.

What are these people with their one star reviews talking about? Unlike most of the ghastly war films made recently, this stays nearest the truth of what happened and eschews the ludicrous multi-cultural, woke nonsense of films like the Darkest Hour. No mock heroics, just a lot of tense, frightened young men thrown into a disastrous escapade not unlike that of the First World War. And the criticisms that there weren't enough soldiers in shot. Well, look at the pictures. Excellent acting from the old timers Branagh and Rylance and no duffers amongst the young ones either. I bought this Blu-ray expecting not a lot, for less than the price of a bottle of Milton. And it is far superior in scope and sentiment to the stiff upper lip 1958 version - which was fine for its time. Excellent subtitles and a host of extras in this very English understated film.

This is a good movie to watch. I didn't know a lot about it when I first saw it but it was recommended by my friend who's a big movie buff.

The movie moved along very slowly. Not used to that. Must be a Brit thing. Good start to research what happened to Britain during WWII.

This steelbook is fantastic. I don't have many steels but this is one of my favorite cover designs.

I enjoyed how this movie covered not only the suffering and courage of the soldiers but also the civilians who risked all to save their troops.

Amazing to watch in 4K. It is a slow burner film, so don’t expect a lot of action like other war films.

Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk instantly establishes itself as one of the best war movies of all time. Aided by Nolan's disdain for CGI, it is as gritty as Saving Private Ryan. However, Dunkirk's non-linear narrative alternates among three separate threads - soldiers trapped at Dunkirk, a Spitfire squadron crossing the Channel and a pleasure boat sailing from Weymouth. These storylines converge at Dunkirk in a triumph of determination and heroism over despair. Hope may not emerge (yet) in the end, but there is relief to be alive and a resolve to fight another day. While the movie does not aim to dazzle with colors, the UHD image is incredibly detailed and realistic. The lossless 5.1 audio is so immersive that I do not miss Atmos. It is difficult to tell when the sound effects end and the music score begin, and the booming scenes make the quiet moments all the more effective. The supplements, on a separate Blu-ray disc, show how the WWII event was recreated on land, air and sea. Overall, the 4K set is a technical marvel that even offers a glimpse of how it was done.

Be sure to get this movie, it's a great story that you won't want to miss. Bestbuy's price was great.

Realistic movie of the battle of Dunkirk during WWII that demonstrated the basic will of survival

Lots of action and suspense. Very well filmed and beautiful sceneries make this movie a must own.

I saw this movie in 70mm at the cinema and knew I would want the 4K UHD HDR disc when it came out. I pre-ordered it as soon as I could and was happy to receive it from Best Buy a few days before it officially launched. The video quality is exceptional, the audio is good but unfortunately my copy has a scratch or blemish on the disc that makes it freeze for about 12 seconds, around 19 minutes in. I have tried all the usual tricks to clean it up but it would not play back this section on either my Oppo 203 or my XBox One X. I suspect that Warner Brothers either have poor quality control or more likely, when they pack the UHD disc on top of the extras disc in the same plastic holder, they are somehow damaging the sensitive UHD disc. I have heard that those lucky enough to have the 4K disc packed on its own disc holder are ok but I was not that lucky. I will have to make the 70 mile round-trip to replace the disc which is annoying but not the end of the world. Regarding the movie though, it is one of my favorites and well worth owning as a demo disc if you own a 4K TV and player.

Christopher Nolan continues to marvel with “Dunkirk” a truly inspired and monumental tale of war! Great!

I really enjoy this world war film! Saw this in the movie theater I knew I had to get a copy of it
